EXCELLENT REPAIR SHOP!!! I have 4 cars and have had the following repairs done: gas pump install, head gasket replacement, suspension parts replaced on a 4x4 and a Cadillac, dash control pannels replaced, transmissions flushed, driveline work on a 4x4, cooling system repairs including radiators, thermostats, and hoses, brakes jobs, harmonic balancer replacement, starter install, interior pannel replacement, shocks, window motor, diffirential fluid changes, wheel bearings, and more I've thrown some confounding problems at this shop such as electrical issues where other mechanics will give up, Jim at Van Ness gets to the bottom of what's going on. He takes the time to explain whats wrong and will show you the issue. His prices are very fair and I've never had to take a repair back to be redone. I can't say enough good about this shop. Had another shop pay him to fix their mistakes..... that's how i found Van Ness Auto. The mechanics really know what they're talking about and eventhough they are always busy, they'll make the effort to help every customer. I had 4 vehicles that all had problems..... now I have 4 cars I wouldn't hesitate to drive to New York and back. Also see a lot of people who take their classic cars to this shop. Finding techs who know how to work on classics is getting harder and harder now days. I can't say enough good things about this place. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I just can’t say enough about this repair shop. Jim is a genuinely awesome guy, who is fun to talk to you and who will spend lots of time chatting about cars and shooting the sh/t with anybody. They also do really good work in this garage, and I’m so committed to them at this point that they had better stay open for the rest of my life, because I really don’t wanna go to another auto repair place. All of this, and on top of the fact that their shop is on site to a retro gas station pump that ups their cool level by 200%. Keep up the great work gentleman.

Incredibly honest and reliable mechanics. I took my car in to have breaks replaced and have them give the vehicle a thorough once over to check for preventative maintenance and other issues. They found a few related to suspension and muffler, gave me a reasonable quote, and then came in under what they quoted me. Solid work and my car drives like new. Would recommend to anyone needing work large or small.

Always ready to work on my vehicle. The staff are polite and respectful. If other problems are found on my vehicle, they always contact you to inform you and get permission to fix the problem. This is the service repair place I've been going to for the past 15 years.

He did work for my sister & purchased a part & it was defected he expected her to deal with the company when he purchased it. He’s been very dishonest & deceptive upon believe. She paid over 1k & it had no oil in her car, disconnected gears for no reason & advised her he will not repair when he did or didn’t do!

I took my Chevy Malibu 2017 just for a hose change and it came back messed up check engine lights on very bad service. I will not recommend this place at all. I paid 1500 and my car is not running great no more really upset do not go to this place at all

I've been taking both my Jeep and my Prius to this shop and they've done a great job. Jim has been very good to me. He is knowledgeable, tries to save me money and addresses all my concerns. Spectacular business and would highly recommend to anyone.

I never received a written estimate. They wanted to release my car and the check engine light was still on. They put a newer engine in that didn't work and allowed me to use it until they got a new one. The car was undriveable I could not accelerate above 20mph and I was in 5:00 traffic. I was so embaressed. I ended up calling B.A.R. Bureau of Automotive Repair. It was over three weeks before I got my car back. My engine was in the back of my car on a pallet. These are not professional mechanics by any means. BEWARE....................
