Guys took great care of my vehicle and took the time to explain to me what was wrong and what was needed. Offered a wonderful tire plan!!! Will definitely be going back!

Called them I-64 when my tire blew and I was only able to drive 5 mph to the Pantops exit. They offered to meet me there and help me get to their shop, which I ended up not needing. But they stayed open 1.5 hours beyond their normal operating hours to replace my tires and get me back on the road = very "above & beyond" level of service. I recommend them!

Had a nice experience with this shop. Tried for 3 weeks to buy tires from Costco and could not get anyone to return my call. Walked into University tire, Victor promptly found the type of tire my car requires, gave me several options and rebate offers and got me scheduled for install the following day. Dropped my car off at 8am and by noon 4 tires were replaced, state inspection completed, and tire rotation. Really impressed with the speedy service!

Incredible experience! From the beginning as I sent emails asking for quotes on tires, the responses were quick and detailed. Adam was so helpful, kind, and informative. He offered great guidance in helping me decide on the tires. When I dropped off my vehicle to get the services I opted for, I received a call from Brandon and he was the same.....so helpful, kind and informative. There were some issues that were found with my car that needed attention (brake fluid, battery, etc.) and he explained all of them without any pressure at all for me to have these corrected while they had my car. I did not feel as though I was being hassled to do any of the suggested replacements (I did go ahead with some of them). He took time when I picked up the car to answer questions I had about my upcoming inspection as well. I was very pleased with the service I received and will recommend University Tire and Auto to others as well as continue using them for myself in the future (although I hope not to have car issues anytime soon).

Pantops location is amazing ! Very fast but thorough in the inspections . I never feel like I am being sold something when I come here. I have been a customer for over 7 years and 3 vehicles . They have a customer for life here!

One of the only places in Charlottesville you can still get a state inspection. I got there early and the wait was reasonable / appropriate. Staff were friendly and respectful of vehicle. Waiting room is a bit sparse but you can grab a seat somewhere dry if you need to wait. I will be back for regular service in the future. Thanks University Tire & Auto.

Easy 5 stars! University Tires at Pantops has inspected and serviced my Subaru for three years. My experience with them: Pleasant and easy to deal with. Friendly efficient shuttle service every time. Service within or faster than the time frame they give me. I am a widow and appreciate the fact that they never push repairs or replacements, even when presented with my car about which I am asking if there is a problem. While sitting in their waiting room, I have observed customers around me who are obviously having good exchanges with the staff. One day I overheard a clerk dealing with an obviously unreasonable and difficult customer on the telephone. I was amazed at the patience of the clerk, who described the problem in every possible way without losing his temper. I particularly want to mention General Service employee, William, who went out of his way to offer kind, courteous service. I know his position and name because I asked. I am not affiliated with this business in any way, but I do believe in acknowledging superior service when I receive it.

Set up an appointment for Friday at 9 am to get state inspection done on the vehicle. The website clearly states that state inspections are more of a drop off service and will be completed by the end of the day. I could not get a ride to pick me up any earlier than 9 am so they followed me to the Pantops location. I walked in and said that I was there to drop off my vehicle for the state inspection and I had a 9 am appointment. The gentleman behind the counter looks at me and says "We're not going to be able to get to it today". I was dumbfounded and made sure he understood that I had an appointment for 9 am and I was there at 8:50 am and that I was willing to leave the vehicle for the whole day. He said that I could leave it but they won't get to it until Monday!? You took my appointment, I drove 15 minutes to get here, I arranged for someone to also take the time and drive 15 minutes to get there to pick me up and now you want me to leave my vehicle over the weekend (at a place where other reviews said that they have had things stolen off their vehicle and they don't provide any coverage or security), no thanks. He told me I can "try" next week. Great, that's only Christmas week, that should be easy. Looks like I will look for a new place to take the business of my 4 vehicles.

They made my day! I needed the state inspection, and I had appointments with Flow Mazda at 10:15, but upon arrival I was told that I would have to drop it and return in 3-4 hours. That was unacceptable to me, not how I planned my day off. When I called this place and was told to come in at any time, I was pleasantly surprised! That was very convenient for me, no time wasted! they happened to be right on the Pantops and I was just lucky to get my car in and out within an hour. I will definitely use this service again.

This service is one of the worst services in America. The management is terrible and does nothing, disrespects the customers and tries to make fools othem and charge more than the cost of certain things. They steal money from customers. It's a pity that there are no inspections in America to call them and check what they are doing. I hope they won't be in business much longer, I would like to start a petition to shut this company down because we don't need a company like this in our city that tries to steal your money in every way possible. This tire was purchased on January 2, 24. The tire exploded on January 13, 24. University tire does not accept claims for rotten tires sold. And they try to convince me that the tire was OK. Once again, I appeal to everyone to avoid this shameful service and their services. This company needs to be shut down and kicked out of Virginia as a matter of urgency.

Wish I could give less than one star. My catalytic converter was stolen off of my van while sitting in the parking lot. University Tire does NOT have insurance to cover cars in their parking lot, NOR do they have functioning security cameras which is very irresponsible!! Be forewarned, you may be going in for tires but coming out having to replace a catalytic converter!! STAY AWAY!! Better yet, stay out of the dump formally called Charlottesville VA!!

*****Beware***** I dropped my car off for a state inspection. They do not take appointments for this service. When I dropped off my car, it should have passed as I had new tires, new brakes and had replaced the headlight bulb (myself) that was burned out. Several hours later I was called and told that the car failed inspection close to the end of their business day due to a failed headlight assembly. We told them to look into the headlight assembly replacement. The next morning we were called and told that it would be appropriately $1060 to replace the assembly to pass inspection. I know that the headlight assembly was in perfect condition when the car was dropped off as I had replaced the bulb myself. We drove over to the shop to see what they were talking about and see specifically why and which assembly was bad. They walked over to the car, pulled it back from the parking space (it was in the greenery surrounding the parking lot). When the person lifted the hood, he walked over to the headlight assembly, that I had just replaced the bulb in, and shook it to show that the assembly was broken. When I asked him how that happened, he said that he didn't know. I told him that I had just replaced the front bulb myself and the assembly was not broken when I completed it. He said that "I highly doubt that you did that", implying that I could not have done that repair myself. I am a woman, and have no problem watching YouTube videos to make simple repairs myself. (The repair didn't even require any tools.) The person immediately cut me off from speaking when I told him that I would happy pay for service to my car, however, the assembly was not broken when I brought it in for inspection. He aslo tried to close the hood on me while I was questioning what had happened. It looked as if someone had taken a screwdriver to the latches around the exterior of the housing and broken them. If I could attach photos, I would. It looked as if the damage was made very recently and was not made due to use of the car. He walked away from me with my husband to collect the bill. I specifically said that I would write a review of service recieved. I will not be returning and do not recommend this location for anyone at any time. Beware.

I originally took my car in to get an inspection. They were trying to charge me $600+ to change my break pads and rotors (which did need to be changed but the pricing was over the top). They also rejected my tires on my 2016 scion because they were "below 1/32". My tires aren't even close to being down to the second rubber. Instead, I went to the JIFFY lube on Pantops, the guys were super sweet and honest and charged me less than $350 for the breaks pads and rotors (and they did an awesome job). My tires did not have to be changed, all I needed to do was rotate them.

I was reading some of the reviews and came across one a customer posted that they had a screw in their tire. What gets me is I come in today with the same issue and was charged 34.00 to take it out and the post I read the customer said they were not charged at ALL. After looking it up most places charged between 10 to 20 why are you charging 34.00 🤔.

My experience- Tell you at 8am on the way to the shop they can get you in for an inspection. (It's about a 20 minute drive MAYBE 30 tops with the lights) By the time you get there they tell you you'll have to leave it over night? Why was it a little bit ago in the phone you told me you could get me in, and have it done that day? I think it's our laziness. Or luck of the draw.

PLEASE, PLEASE DON’t take your car or truck here. You will be disappointed. Had them to do an oil change, they forgot to reset the oil gauge and didn’t put the next mileage oil sticker up. I don’t think they really change my oil.

This has to be the worst place to get a repair/Tires. I had an appointment at 4pm to get tires and when I arrived they did not have them in stock i was told that they can order them for me but I had to pay for delivery lol. I’m not asking for a special tire and why do I have to pay for there delivery when asked if I can choose another tire they said we don’t keep the tires here excuse me I had to wait for them to come from a wear house and it would take up to two days later to get service, How can you be a tire store but not have any tires on site awful experience and waist of time/gas. I don’t recommend doing business with these two stores in Charlottesville dirty lobby and awful customer service, guess what I got the tires at WALMART for a lot less and same day Sevice Thank you Walmart!

This is the first time I have ever had to wait 6 1/2 hours for a state inspection. I arrived at 6:45, was the first one there. The bald headed guy, I think I heard someone call him Dave, said it would be mid morning before it would be ready. There were maybe 10 cars in the lot including the employees, he made sure that the drop offs were done before me. It's not like they couldn't have taken me sooner and gotten me out of the lobby. I do not recommend them anymore! I will never go there again and now I'm wondering how thorough my inspection was. Very poor customer service and disrespect!! If they don't want you to wait maybe they should provide a shuttle service for those who don't have a ride! My review is a negative 1.

I have called every where local for a specific tire size I needed.. no one had it. So I called these guys. They said they had it and it would take them roughly 2 hours to complete the job. They did it in less than that. They was very friendly and professional! They looked over my car and gave me recommendations which I’m grateful for! They definitely got a customer from here on, definitely recommend these guys!!
