Will definitely go again. Rob was transparent, straightforward, and thoroughly documented his efforts and results. He identified the problem I went in for, and also tracked down a small issue that I'd been dealing with for a year that two others and a dealership had all missed. I appreciate his approach and his experience. I feel like Rob wants to build relationships with his customers. The kind of old school mechanic that we need in this era of complex cars and complex problems.

Rob was happy to work on an engine coolant issue on my newer Toyota. He diagnosed the problem within the day, and found replacement parts. However, he went above & beyond to contact the dealer, determine that the repair was likely under warranty, and then forgo his profit from the repair to send me to the dealer which would save me money overall. Rob was very good at communicating and identifying problems and solutions. I look forward to working with him again. Note that it might not be the cheapest shop around, but you're paying for quality, experience & customer service!

Dr. Rob is absolute best!!! if you feel it’s going to be a complicated or difficult repair to figure out or fix, go STRAIGHT to Dr. Rob. it will end up costing you less time and money. Trust him and let him do his job.

In March, My 1993 Ford Ranger wouldn’t pass DEQ. Everyone I called for help told me they do not work on vehicles as old as mine. Finally, one of them referred me to Dr. Rob and the Car Doctor Shop. I made an appointment and dropped my truck off. Dr. Rob was very friendly, knowledgeable and honest. He diagnosed the problem and gave me a fair estimate to fix it. When diagnosing the problem, a report was created and sent to me, explaining the problems in a way anyone could understand. It also prioritized the work to be done. After the repairs, my truck flew thru DEQ without a problem. This was the best auto mechanic experience I’ve ever had. I will be going back to Dr. Rob when the need arises.

My 82 Chevy van popped a freeze plug last winter, and I overheated the engine discovering it. After that it smoked and wouldn't pass DEQ. So I rebuilt the engine. I tuned it best as Edelbrock and YouTube could teach me... got real close, but after 8 tests in two months, and trip permits expiring, I really didn't know what else to fix. After calling several popular auto/lube shops, I found out they only change parts and belts, and can't actually tune old cars. BUT one shop did refer me to ROB the CAR DOCTOR, announcing him as a "Classic Car Specialist". So I left my van with Rob and he smoke tested it, retimed it, and finetuned the oversized 4 barrel carb using his diagnostic knowledge and specialty equipment, and my van passed DEQ 1st try! This made me really happy to find this small, family owned shop. His honesty and professionalism are a rare find in today's world. Highly recommended when your local auto/lube shop falls short fixing up your classic ride!

There is no other place I'd recommend taking your car into, The Car Dr. is the man! My friend and I brought his Cadillac to the Dr. after having unsuccessful experiences with other mechanics who never really fixed the problem, they just did extra unnecessary work that still left the car inoperable, but we were recommended to the Car Dr. who took it in right away and found a number of problems that had been completely overlooked by other mechanics. Once it was diagnosed, he went ahead and corrected every single error with it and gave us fair rates that weren't going to hurt financially. Besides the excellent work, the Car Doctor, Dr. Rob is such a honest and humble man, he's very upfront with the work but is also very much interested in looking out for the people that he's helping, something that I personally don't see enough of. If you are looking for a great and safe auto shop for your car, this is the only one, and take no substitutes.

When everyone else was telling me to give up on my 93 Nissan dr. Rob was there to help. He is knowledgeable, helpful and made me feel valid. I will always take my vehicles to the car doctor shop and you should too!

Excellent choice for troubled electrical problems with my Jeep. Dr. Rob is the best at what he does. He was able to diagnosis the problem even after Jeep put a lockout on the system so only they can fix it…. Not good of them since they cannot keep up with their repair and maintenance system . Minimum 2 hr wait just for oil change with appointment…Thank you Rob🤗

I had an evap system leak that I had been trying to fix for a couple months at another shop and I was getting tired of it. Brought it into the Car Doctor on a whim and couldn't be any more pleased with the service. He helped work out a way to stay within my budget and had it figured out the same day. Will most definitely be coming back.

Rob was recommended to me by a trusted friend and his brother, a professional mechanic. He was able to not only diagnose why my 83 Corolla was misfiring, idling rough, and dying on cold starts, but adjust the fairly nightmarish early 80s carburetor to get it running smoothly. I drive it every day and am loving the experience every time I fire it up. Rob is a first-call mechanic. The engine bay looks even tidier than it did when I dropped it off and the communication along the way was clear and thorough, just like the work done on the car. I would highly recommend Rob to anyone, but especially to anyone with an 80s car.

After battling with a frustrating electrical issue with my Chevy van. A person from my local Battery Factory recommended Rob at The Car Doctor Shop. I was impressed with him as soon as I walked through the door. His professionalism and the “customer come first” philosophy. It was impressive. I was slightly leery at first because I never have experience this by an auto technician. But it did not take long to know his great attitude was legit. He worked on my vehicle for a couple of days resolving all the issues that I was having with it. And each day he texts me and provided detailed diagnosis, with pictures, of what he did to troubleshoot and repair. My van is running better than ever. Thanks Dr. Rob!

Rob is an outstanding Auto electronic technician. If your car has an electrical problem, you may want to visit Rob's shop before heading to a delearship. Very friendly and and honest. Will take time to explain what the problem was. He fixed headlight and sensor issues on my F350 quickly and efficiently.

I had a fuel pressure issue, as well as some other electronic issues, with my 1980 Camaro RS. I was recommended by another shop to visit The Car Doctor Shop, as Rob (the owner) is one of few in the area who can troubleshoot older vehicles. Not only did Rob get my car running great, he includes an online car status report with pictures, as well as detailing what he has done so far on the car. This is great as the customer doesnt have to wait and wonder what is going on with thier car. As a former mechanic myself, I can really appreciate this service. Highly reccomend this shop to anyone, expecially a person that has an older car. Thanks Rob!

I have been looking for a good mechanic in the Portland Metro area for a long time. My search is finally over and my expectations have been exceeded! He takes pictures, ranks which issues need to be addressed first, sends reports, and provides suggestions for future work. He is the only mechanic I will trust with my cars in the Portland Metro area. I will be a return customer and I would 100% recommend Dr. Rob for your car problems big and small!

I had an issue with my car , I knew it was an electrical problem, but dont have the knowledge on how to fix it. I knew Dr. Rob was great with vehicles and took my car to Car Doctor. He has more patience than I have. Just a very thorough person and made sure it was fixed before he gave my car back to me. I would highly recommend him.

I had.a repair shop in the area for over 18 years and I had a car that my crew couldn’t figure out so I sublet the car to Dr.Rob and he not only found the problem but he also repaired it for a great price to our customer. Rob was able to diagnose and repair several issues that were above my skill level on my 1992 f150. Because of his great knowledge and experience with old OBD 1 test equipment and know how the truck is once again a driver. We can’t thank him enough. Rob was able to fix a bizarre/unusual electrical issue on my Nissan Titan that not even Nissan could diagnose or fix. The warranty paperwork/process was a bit of a hassle but at the end of the day it all worked out perfectly.

Rob’s shop is great! From my perspective as an aircraft mechanic, honest, detailed communication and work is essential, and The Car Doctor Shop does both! The inspection report I received from Rob was fantastic, with detailed photos of problem areas, as well as complete descriptions which were not dumbed-down, and recommendations for repair. Rob helped me understand my car better, and his inspection will help me make more informed decisions about my car.
