I have been very happy with Taylor Automotive. They have done good work on my older Toyota Camry several times now and for very fair prices. Communication has been excellent. I highly recommend them, noting that several other San Jose locals have also mentioned to me that they like this business. I suspect other negative reviews are due to people from other cultures having difficulty with understanding the owner's accent or other unreasonable expectations.

Took my car to Long (Luong) a couple times now. Finding a mechanic you can really trust is worth it's weight in gold.
