Corey was absolutely GREAT!!! He did a very detailed inspection and broke down what need to be fixed immediately & what to budget for in the future, instead of trying to get everything from us at one time. We very much appreciated that because we are dealing with a death in the family & money is tight right now. I booked a friend of mine and appointment because I trust these guys!!!

I was in the market for a Toyota sequoia cash vehicle for my mother in law-had found a used one and wanted to have a pre purchase inspection done. I drove up to this shop with the vehicle and got hit with a 300.00 plus charge for the inspection-which of course I didn’t pay. The average pre purchase car inspection in DFW typically ranges from 100-200 dollars depending on vehicle and age. So when I go to pay and I see a 350.00 charge it’s a bit silly. And here’s the kicker. What I wanted to bring the sequoia in for was to ensure the timing chain wouldn’t be a problem since that’s a costly repair on the older models. I was told “we won’t be able to check the timing chain”. This can be done in under 2 hours which the time quote for the inspection job was 2-3 hours. I ended up taking the vehicle to another nearby shop that charged 89.00. I’m all for paying for “quality” services but if the best you’ve got is a diagnostic check (which I already have a device to do that with) and a visual inspection-I’ll save my money and my time. Maybe this was just a one off bad experience I had or maybe everyone else just pays shop prices without doing a price comparison. Who knows.

My car failed emissions inspection because the OBD port wasn’t working. They quoted me $145 for diagnostics, which I agreed to, but after confirming the issue, they let me know it might be covered under the federal emissions warranty and I can probably get it fixed for free at the dealer. They decided not to charge me the $145 diagnostic fee, even though they had done the work.

OUTSTANDING, As expected! I booked on-line as I was having a challenge with a couple items on my S80. What I thought was going to be replacing 2 hubs, turned out to be a leaking other part causing a similar sound (Growling or grinding) at start and in a turn. Filled up the leaking reservoir and runs like normal. Though I know this is a temporary fix. Having a 21 year old car its difficult at times to find parts or parts that are for this model engine, transmision. Yet Jon, JulieAnna, Cody and the fine folks at SouthWest Auto look out for me. Awesome experience, as someone that hasn't taken his vehicle to a shop for service in nearly two decades. They were warm, understanding and helpful. I tend to do a lot of my own mechanical but if you have a Saab or Volvo and I'm sure several other brands these folks are honest and up front about everything. They worked on two of my vehicles and I am very happy with the experience.

BEWARE of Southwest Auto. Do not send your wife, sister, or daughter here. They love to prey on women that they think are clueless. I took my Jeep in because I was having so electric issues on my way to work so I stopped in and asked if they could find the issue and give me an oil change while they were at it. They called me one hour after I dropped it off telling me that the issue was just that the hook up to my battery had jiggled loose and just needed to be tighten. I go to pick up my car and they hit me with a bill of $300, just for an oil change and a diagnostic to tell me the hookup to my battery needed to be retighten. I refused to pay the $300 and they argued telling me the average price of an oil change is $200 as if I was born yesterday. I told them they knew and I knew that this was absurd and unfair. They eventually lowered it to $170 which I still felt was extremely unfair for what was done. One of the shop owners is apparently a women , she was not there at the time of payment so I don’t know if she is in on it or if she is oblivious on how the men at her shop take advantage of women who they deem clueless. I feel really bad for other women who have gone here and maybe didn’t feel like they could stand up for themselves. Don’t send your loved ones here.

Took my S500 4matic a day before leaving the country for about 3 weeks. They took care of the issue that had troubled another transmission shop and stored the car for me with no charge. They gave me peace of mind while outside the country. Best shop and very friendly and understanding.

UPDATE 2024 - I've been using Southwest Auto for over 5 years now for my Sprinter van. They are still providing top-notch service. I have compared prices with my local Mercedes dealership where I purchased the van. Southwest is most often cheaper and faster! I still highly recommend Southwest Auto! Original review... After using big-name auto dealers for years, I decided to look around for a more "mom-and-pop" shop for my Sprinter van. I came across Southwest Auto years ago, and I've been going there ever since. I've been nothing but happy with Southwest Auto. They do great work, they communicate well throughout the process, their prices are fair, and they are very knowledgeable with all brands, especially Mercedes, Volvo, Audi, Mazda, BMW, etc. Their shop is always clean, their staff is friendly and they are always helpful. Highly recommended!

Car wouldn’t start in AM…battery going bad. SWA was able to take it in on short notice, and get me in/out in 20 mins. They always take good care of my family and me. I’ve been a loyal customer since 2006. Would highly recommend to others.

I came here for a check engine light showing an EVAP code. After calling around, this shop had the best price for my German car, and I was referred here by another shop that doesn’t work on German vehicles. I dropped off my car, but when they went to start it, the light had turned off—something I did must’ve fixed it. Instead of charging me for diagnostics, they told me the issue was resolved and didn’t charge a dime. Honest, fair, and great to work with—I’ll definitely be back!

My prayers were answered! I'm not kidding. On my way to my first appointment with Southwest Auto I prayed that my decision to change my "car doctor" that I had been loyal to for six years would be a good decision. I said to God, and I said this out loud in my car on the drive to SWA, "God, I have no idea what to do about maintenance for my car. I don't think where I've been going is the right place to take my car anymore but what do I know? I just have this gut feeling... how do I know who's good? How do I know who has experience and skills and the technology and tools to work on my Volvo and not break something in the process of fixing it? God, this is all you, now. I'm giving this all to you." So guess what?! I found a new family home for my Volvo maintenance! This family and team will earn your confidence with their experience, integrity, love of automobiles, their attention to detail, their transparency, their communication, their attitudes and their hearts. My Volvo is now in good hands! Yay! I'm spreading the word - they are the best!

car had 'thermostat' issues (or so I thought)... apparently I don't know how to diagnose a 'low water' condition, but they did, and serviced the water and _did not_ replace the (not broken) thermostat. They could have done the work and charged me and I never would have known otherwise! Thank you, guys! Keep this little smart-car on the road! (OH, and i met Morris the cat)
