tl:dr - Searching for a good mechanic can be expensive and discouraging so there's a huge value in finding a place like this. Sexton's Automotive is a rare find in that they appear trustworthy, competent, and fair. I plan to use them for more work on my cars. I'm impressed enough that the tl:dr is a paragraph on its own. I was a bit skeptical of this place in spite of reviews. I am mechanically inclined and often act on my curiosity and/or skepticism when I want to know more. I'm pretty easily dissatisfied with other people's work on my stuff, even if I don't complain or demand corrections. I stopped by the shop to go over the work that I was going to request in addition to tire install/balance, I wanted TPMS replacement, replace valve stems, 4 wheel alignment. The extra work was 4 wheel alignment, replace front valve stems, and check clutch/flush the fluid. The guy at the counter seemed a bit distracted/inattentive. This didn't give me much confidence that the additional work was going to be completed. I expected them to have the car for a week. The same guy was at the counter and warned me that they'd likely not have it ready until the next day. This also seemed to support my earlier assessment that he hadn't noted the work I requested. They called that it was ready the next afternoon and my disappointment was ramping up to anger for the entire drive to pick it up. I was certain that they had only done the tire install. I had almost no doubt and was deciding if I was going to trust them to do the work or just pick up the car and go somewhere else for the rest. Different guy at the counter this time and I geared up for my best Karen-quiz and folks, after that first question, I was so taken aback that I thought I was going to start stuttering. He didn't miss a beat, he clearly answered my question and more, rendering most of the rest of my questions unnecessary. They had completed everything I requested and even after checking the car when I got home, I didn't see any signs of carelessness, shoddy work, or abuse (excessive joyriding, damaged fasteners, etc). What a refreshing experience. To the guy at the counter the first two times: man...I owe you an apology. I dramatically misjudged you and our interaction. You heard everything I said and communicated it forward. Well done! I've learned a lesson and look forward to meeting again. Now if I can find a good auto body shop.

We were staying in Dalton and our plastic skid plate on our Camry pulled down after being caught on a piece of rebar in a parking lot. It was dragging so we drove into Sextion Automotive since it was the first place we saw for car repair. We asked for help and the mechanic immediately put our car up on the lift and fixed the skid plate and reinforced it for us! This was with no appt and required the lift in their garage. These folks are great people and thorough at what they do. Thanks! Sexton Automotive is the place to go in Dalton for car repair!

question here we live in cleveland tn. but my mom works in dalton georgia and has used you guys before and said you all did a great job on her car in the past. but here comes the question can you all change the oil in a 2023 honda hrv sport and reset the system after the work is done?

Mark and Micheal are awesome to work with! I needed some new tires to replace the worn tires before a family trip, problem was this was Thursday night and we were leaving Friday afternoon. I called down to sextons and talked with Micheal, told him the size I needed, and he had them by 10 am the next morning. I was ready to go by lunch. You don't get this kind of service anywhere. Sexton's for the win!

These guys go above and beyond with everything they do. I recently experienced a dead battery on my 2018 Pilot. I went to Sexton's & explained my situation. One of the technicians went with me to my home, got my car started and took it back to the shop to replace the battery and do a full service. All of this happened at 8:30AM and my car was ready to go by 2pm the same day. These Guys are Good!! LLB

This is a great place to take your automobiles for service, and especially if you have cars that require specialized care. They have serviced our Land Rover, Porsche, Dodge and Maserati. They are truly a one stop shop that handles almost anything you would need.

Update to original review. - 3 years later and still the best place in town to have work done on our families vehicles. Only place that touches our vehicles, honest, professional and fair. If you are looking for someone to work on your vehicle, this is the place.

Always a great and friendly staff who has checked and filled fluids as well as maintaining correct tire pressure for my vehicle. Great prices for these services. Highly recommended! 5 out of 5 stars!!

Definitely 5 Stars for Sextons Automotive. I highly recommend this shop for all your vehicle repair needs, tires, oil changes. Reasonable prices and fast, friendly service. I’ve taken 2 of our vehicles here for repairs. My daughters Jeep needed the oil cooler replaced. I talked to Mark (#SOTY) on a Friday. He scheduled repairs for Monday and I picked the vehicle up on Tuesday. No problems at all. My wifes expedition had a rough idle and a front end issue. Mark and his team took care of it. Had it ready the next day. Will definitely be using Sexton’s Automotive in the future.

We have a Chevy Tahoe from Mtn View Chevy with a prepaid maintenance plan. Chevy's service and attention to detail are woefully lacking. We dont use them any more even though we have the prepaid plan, its not worth the headache. We use Mark because we know, like, and trust him. He shoots you straight and treats you right. It's out of the way for us but it's worth it. We recommend him to anyone that needs quality car service. **UPDATE 2023: Mark Sexton continues to be be a huge assistance to us. Still a straight shooter, responsive communication, and recently just saved me from a potentially bad used vehicle purchase. Still highly recommended.

We were traveling to Atlanta from Knoxville for a girls wrestling tournament. We ended up running over a truck tire. My car started running really rough, so we pulled off at the first exit and hoped an auto repair center would be on that exit. Sure enough Sextons was right off the exit. We pulled in and I asked for them to just take a look. They did! Added some oils, looked under the car, and made us feel so much better. We were on our way in no time at all. My girl won first and we made it because of Sexton’s.
