Righty Tighty is an awesome place filled with awesome people who really want to help you. They aren’t the kind of shop that will convince you to do the most expensive fix just to make money off of you. I’ve had my 2003 Subaru forester in there twice so far. Once to get a new belt for my AC. Then to figure out why my radiator isn’t holding any coolant. I am a struggling college student and the second time they only charged me for the price of parts. It was well within their right to charge me labor costs but they understood my situation and only had me pay for parts. And I believe most places would have told me I need new head gaskets which would have been a more expensive fix than the car is probably worth, but they gave me a cheaper fix so I can try it out and see if it solves the problem before they move into more expensive fixes.

These guys were amazing, we had been struggling with lights on our dashboard in our Subaru for a year, A-1Brakes recommended we bring our car here, timing wasn't working so we took it to the dealership first and they wanted to do $8000 in work on a car I bought for $5k. Righty Tighty fixed the lights, our cruise control, emergency brake, antilock brakes and traction all work now, they completed in the predicted budget of a few hundred dollars, gave us a list of items that needed work, ones that had to happen soon and others that could wait. These guys will be where we always bring our Subaru from now on!

We were visiting family when the smell of burning oil spooked us so we wanted to get a professional opinion on if we could do an extended road trip or if we needed to get some work down. The team at Righty Tighty were professional, reasonably priced, and incredibly helpful. Highly recommend Righty Tighty!

A friend recommended Righty Tighty to help with a non Subi car (no work just advice) . I spoke with Jared who was excellent !! He gave me great advice when he didn't have to and recommended another shop that he trusted that could help. So these guys went out of their way to help me with questions and advice knowing that they couldn't work on my vehicle. Free of charge!! I have another car that's a Subi and I will never go anywhere else to have it worked on. Thank you Righty Tighty for being legit !! 5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I can't say enough good things about Righty Tighty Repair. Jared, Braden, and crew are truly salt-of-the-earth guys—kind, honest, and clearly passionate about their work. I recently went to them on very short notice after the Subaru dealership diagnosed a head gasket issue (amongst a few other things) that they said would cost $5000 to fix. The guys at Righty Tighty inspected my car thoroughly and quickly found that the issue was a broken radiator cap, not the head gasket. They explained the issue to me very clearly (as someone who is not super car savvy). They fixed it for less than $100 and even went above and beyond to install an OBD digital gauge to help me keep an eye on the cooling system temperature while driving. My car has been driving perfectly well since my visit to their shop and it's comforting to know it's still a reliable car. I just want to add a little personal note: their attention to detail and honesty really stood out, and saved me so much money—money that I was able to use to give my sweet senior cat a peaceful passing at the vet this week. It made a tough time so much easier to bear. I will be sticking with Righty Tighty from now on. These guys turned a stressful situation into a positive experience, and I’m so grateful for their help. Highly recommend!

Solid repair shop. I had a quote from a dealership to replace the ENTIRE front-end wiring harness for $7k (when only a few pins were loose). Righty Tighty repaired rather than replaced and said "it may not be the Subaru repair manual recommendation, but we're CONFIDENT in our repair" and wouldn't let me pay for the service until I had driven my 13 year-old car for a few days. In the end, the shop was communicative, quick, and a damn sight better than the local dealership!

Absolutely incredible. Was having some transmission issues driving through these guys helped me out in a jam got my transmission fluids changed out and walked me through the issues. Genuinly good people. If you've got a Subaru in the Bozeman area these guys are the best

Great service! They made time to check out my Crosstrek when everyone else was booked out for weeks. I was partway through my roadtrip and they really helped me out. They were very honest and knowledgeable. I can't recommend them enough for Subarus.

The name says it all. They’re definitely not lefty loosey and they sure ain’t loosey goosey. These folks are so nice and helpful. They replaced a timing belt on short notice and fixed a problem with my brakes for a great price. I went on a road trip for the next week and my car sailed smooth the whole time! Bad at listening to descriptions of the problem, bad at fixing the problem, bad at confirming the fix, bad at getting the car back in after failing to fix the problem. Three months wasted to their run-around.

Editing my previous review with more details Hopefully they have a dedicated service advisor/office person now as they’ve gotten bigger and expanded a bit since getting ahold of them on the phone can be tricky. I found out about them from tire world after I got tire world in a bit over their heads when my shift linkage roll pin snapped. Stuart and his team served me well on several repairs including a clutch job, camshaft oil seal, an engine replacement, and suspension components. What I really appreciate is that they keep several parts cars onsite for miscellaneous trim pieces and good used parts which came in handy when I brought my car in for an oil and transmission fluid change and when they had it up on the lift they discovered that my drivers front lower control arm bushing was in the process of falling out of the lower control arm. TLDR: I can’t say enough good things about Righty Tighty and the work they did for me on my 2006 2.5i manual limited and 2005 3.0R LL Bean, and if I hadn’t moved to Spokane I’d still be going here

I was having issues with my 2014 Outback for over half a year. I was in and out of mechanic shops, being told several different things by several different mechanics. I finally figured out my car needed a new transmission. I looked around at junkyards trying to find a used, low mileage transmission. Finally found one and was told would be here in a week. Three weeks go by, and it’s not here and not even shipped yet. I didn’t trust the company anymore so I canceled the order. Started calling around and I was very fortunate to have been referred to Righty Tighty. They found me a used transmission with low miles in less than a day. To say they were extremely helpful is an understatement. Come time to do the transmission swap, they followed through with their plan and had my car ready when they said it would be. Righty Tighty is very knowledgeable, professional, and efficient. They are the only mechanic shop I will trust with my Subaru from now on. If I could give them 10/5 stars, I would. Thank you Righty Tighty!

I would give them ZERO stars if it was an option. My engine blew near Bozeman going from Montana to Colorado. On a recommendation of a Bozeman local, I had righty tighty replace the engine. Months later I'm still discovering the ways they screwed me over. I never received and information about the supposedly refurbished engine they put in. I recently discovered that they broke the wiring connection to the mass flow sensor, a $300 fix. I also discovered that they cut the wires to the reverse light switch and didn't fix it, or tell me about it. I have had a check engine light on from the day after I picked up the car that relates to the engine work they did. I live in Colorado and took it to a dealer here and they said that righty tighty did not use standard Subaru parts on the (supposedly) refurbished engine. Do not trust them. Am I angry? Yes! I guess since they knew I was from out of state they thought they would take advantage of me.

Indeed the best Subaru shop in the valley. They took a look at my car in moments, were very transparent on their process by letting me walk around the car with them pointing out my concerns, and them explaining what they are checking for. Amazing people, professionals, TRANSPARENT, understanding, and friendly overall. Their certification speaks for itself when it comes down to mechanic stuff. Very trustworthy. If you are in the Gallatin valley and have a Subaru, bring it here. Best Subaru repair shop

These guys are life savers. I broke down on my way from Bonners Idaho to Sheridan Wyoming and called these guys last minute in the middle of a busy day and they had me back on the road within the hour. They were super friendly and knowledgeable, if you drive a Subaru don't take it anywhere else. Jared, Don and the team are the best!

This is where I came after B & B Auto Repair turned out so badly. These guys set me up for an appointment first thing on a Monday. I dropped my car off Sunday night. They open at 9:00. I called at 9:15 to make sure we were on track.... and the first repair was already done, and they had an estimate of noon for the second repair. I got a call at 10:40. Done. For less money than expected. Awesome work, awesome service, awesome communication.
