YOU WONT GET GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM OLD MAN OWNER lol BUT GIGI IS INCREDIBLE. Old man owner is tired and back, knees, and hips are killing him from 30 yesrs in the industry. He is a nice guy but just very short and i can tell hes in pain walking when he got my invoice. Dont take it personal. i would be grumpy as hell too if my body is breaking down on me. I do alot of my own work but was in SF away from home i clipped a cone and my power steering bracket was already stripped from being 16 years old and was held on with a couple zipties. (common n54 bmw issue) So when i hit the cone it clipped the bracket off and drug on the ground and burst. i was on a hill in sf so had no choice to get a tow to phaedrus bmw. once i was in front of the shop i realized it was an easy fix but was already towed right out front so had them fix the line. 200$ for the line around 379$ for labor fair price for san francisco TBH. Got me fixed in 24 hours as i left it overnight. Beautiful large shop and tons of experience highly recommend. If your soft and need to be spoken too like a baby you wont like this place but if you realize it comes with the industry after so many years and dont take it personal you'll be great 👍

Bringing my car to Phaedrus was an awful experience. I arrived on time for an oil change and was greeted by the Phaedrus, the owner who acted as if I offended him. It was so out of place and uncalled for, I had to ask him what I had said or done to make him angry. I got no answer. I was so put off by his behavior, I asked my wife to pick up the car because she was the one to encourage me to go there in the first place. So, if you like abuse in conjunction with car service, go to Phaedrus. You won’t be disappointed.

Been bringing my cars here for the better part of ten years. Always to the point and don’t dilly dally. Not on the cheaper side but definitely competently fixed without the dealer tag. So long as they’re around I’ll keep taking my car here. Work done has been radiator, all oils, water pump, valve cover replacement.

Steer clear if you want a shop you can trust. I came in for an "in between" oil change before the car's computer called for one, which will be familiar to those looking to own a BMW long term. This shop reset not only my oil life interval in the computer, but *all* of the intervals, causing any subsequent dealer visits to not cover service that should have been included, such as the car's first brake fluid flush. The shop then had an incredibly dismissive attitude when I raised the issue, saying "OMG it's $200", "we've already been talking about this for way too long" (2 minutes into a phone call), and "we've been in business for way too long to be dealing with this" (yes, exact quotes). Guess they've been in business for too to care about doing work properly, owning up to mistakes, and caring about money except when it comes time to take it from customers.

The service at Phaedrus is amazing -- doesn't get any better. I know I can trust them to be honest, only doing the work that is necessary to keep me safe and my car in tip top shape. Everyone there goes out of their way to accommodate my schedule and get me back on the road as soon as possible. This kind of personal, professional service is hard to find!

They “fixed” my car and then I got a service engine light within 3 drives, brought it back, they “fixed” it again for $700 and on the way back home the car started smoking horribly, I immediately brought it back, they said there was nothing they can do.. so in total they took my money and then told me my car was worthless. It’s as if they have no idea what they are doing or are taking advantage of people -sketchy & unhelpful people-

After battling with a smog test for my 2002 BMW I finally took it to Phaedrus. They fixed it in a day and saved the day. If you have a BMW (old or new) this is the spot!

Phaedrus knows BMW better than BMW itself. Went to the dealer once because of an emissions issue and was told the issue was the catalytic converter. Phaedrus correctly diagnosed the problem for a fraction of the cost. Would recommend to anyone with a BMW.

Very fair pricing compared to other indie shops in the area and cheaper than the dealer. They also allowed me to use my own oil I had leftover.

I love this shop so much. It’s a beautiful space with honest and talented techs. I have an older m3 that has been in there few times now, and each time results in a fair and timely experience. If you live in SF and care about your BMW, then visit this place.

These guys reflect BMW cars; thorough and expensive. My wife and l have used them for over 10 years. The building is a spectacular early motor garage which appears in books about SF architecture. The staff take the time to explain what's wrong clearly. They won't bill for stuff you don't need. But you pay BMW tech, and parts prices, and SF shop space prices. If you have a used BMW in SF l would highly recommend them.
