Don’t waste your time. I went in yesterday to get my oil changed and was told to make an appointment for early morning the next day. I made an appointment and went in at 8am and was told they wouldn’t be able to work on my car since the guy who does oil changes doesn’t come in until 1pm. I came back at 1pm and then was informed that the guy who changes oil is still not in and they don’t know when he will get there. Then he proceeded to say, “I should just go somewhere else and I don’t have to get it done here.” Very unprofessional and I wasted 3 trips to try and get my oil change.

Do not go here. I had the most unprofessional experience with this place over the last 2 days. On a Tuesday afternoon, around 1:30pm, I made a same day appointment for 5pm via the website (there were several appointments available) for a flat tire repair. While en route, around 415pm, I got an email stating my appointment was cancelled. No reason was given. I called, and was placed on hold. I arrived on-site about 10min later and waited in line to speak with someone, and when I finally did, I informed them the call they had on hold was me. They apologized. I asked what happened to my appointment and they said they tried to reach me (my email and phone number was on file. I was not contacted at all…) but they were booked for the day and had to cancel, despite being open until 7pm and the website saying they had open availability. They said they could take me first thing the next morning and they open at 8am. I arrived at 8am the next morning and asked how long things would take, and they said it could be a while because their tech doesn’t arrive until 9am. So why was I told to get there at 8am?! Anyway, left my vehicle and went about my morning. Around 10am I called asking for an update and they had none. By 11:30am, I had enough and went there to ask for my keys back so I could take my vehicle elsewhere. After a little confusion, they said my service was done (so why wasn’t I notified???). I paid, and was given back keys, but the keys weren’t for my vehicle. After more confusion, it turns out I paid for SOMEONE ELSE’S service (who happened to have the same make and model vehicle as mine, but a year newer, and they were getting the same service done) and MY service was still not done. They asked if the owner of the vehicle whose service I paid for could Venmo me to pay me back, and then they would service my car right away for free to make up for all the confusion. They completed my service in under 10min and I left. All of this was severely unprofessional and the free service is the very least they could’ve done to rectify things. I 100% will not be going back here and I don’t recommend anyone else wasting their time either. 1 star for the free service, but honestly that’s more than they deserve from me

I honestly have never written a negative review before, but I feel like I really have to. If I can save someone from what I experienced then it's worth it. I brought my (old, but very well maintained) Toyota Camry in because my check engine light, and traction control light were on. I had a couple issues that I thoroughly described. After dropping my car off, they were very quick to call me back and let me know that they ran a diagnosis, and my struts need to be replaced, and I need two new front tires, which will cost me over $2,000. NOTE: This is NOT an actual diagnosis which was a huge red flag. These are things you actually need to look under the car and see, not anything a machine can tell you. Additionally, I had my front AND rear struts replaced 2 years ago which I have record of, so I know that was not the case, and my front tires are certainly not bald the way they described. I knew this was incorrect, so I let them know I would be picking my car up that night. The gentleman informed me they closed at 7pm. I receive a phone call at 5pm (while I was at work) asking me if I can pick my car up sooner because they are closing up early. I let them know I could not because I will be at work, and could be there at 6:30 at the latest. They then proceeded to ask me if I could just come pick my car up tomorrow instead "because they have things to do." I told them I was informed that they close at 7pm. The person I was on the phone with asked "who told you that?" I said that the last person I was on the phone with informed me of this AND it is on their website! When I arrived at 6:30pm on the dot, they asked me for $118 for a diagnosis fee. I did not want to pay because they did not give me a proper diagnosis as to why my lights were on, but they REFUSED to give me my car back unless I paid. They also refused to show me any record of any diagnosis. They said I can call and talk to the manager Tom the next day, or I can call corporate and talk to someone who could help. I called to speak to Tom the next day, and he has managed to dodge every single phone call I have made, or has conveniently "stepped out" before I called. Upon bringing it to a reliable independent mechanic, they verified that there is absolutely nothing wrong with my struts, and my tires have some ware on them, but has absolutely nothing to do with any of the issues I was having. Additionally, my new mechanic could not run any kind of diagnosis for me because the team at Pep Boys reset the lights that were on. I am really looking for someone to rectify the situation. I should not have been charged $118 for a diagnosis I did not receive. If this was any other woman who knew nothing about cars, they would have been taken advantage of, and would have paid $2,000 for work that did not need to be done. PLEASE save yourself from going to Pep Boys, or at least this location.

Long story short, I got an oil change about 7 weeks ago. This past weekend I went to put windshield wiper fluid in my car and found that my trunk release lever was broken. I called Monday and asked to speak to the manager. I was lied to by the person who answered the phone (he stated he was the manager). Explained the situation to two different people and was asked when I could bring it in. I told them Thursday (1/9/25). I miss money to take Thursday only to be told that no manager was working that day. The lady at the front desi called and texted the manager TOM. After over an hour he responds back to her and tells her to tell me he’ll call me the next morning. He’s a liar like the rest of them since I had to end up calling him. He got on the phone and was rude af and told me it’s been 3 months (which it’s e hasn’t been) and basically said that I broke it. I have no reason to go under the hood of a 2021 with 67,183 miles on it except to add windshield wiper fluid. I also get my car serviced only at the dealership (except oil changes). STAY AWAY FROM THIS RAGGEDY SHOP filled with raggedy and lying workers. Check to make sure nothing is broken on your vehicle.

Pep boys did great, installed the tires on my Tesla with no issue, fast too. Greatly appreciated.

They botched an oil change & I had to get it re-done at another mechanic. When I let them know they said they'd provide a refund for their mistake (after I had to contact the store & HQ multiple times) yet it's been 5+ months and still no refund. Awfulllllll service. Don't go. More trouble than it's worth & you'll end up having to pay someone else to fix their mistakes.

Called the manager, asked for an oil quote, told them i needed 5-30, told them their system will call for 0-20 but i opt out of using that. They said bring it in its okay. Then i drove there and they told me they wouldn’t do it because their computer recommends 0-20. Waste of my time and fuel and basically lied to me.

Came to the store yesterday to get brake lights repaired , "How can I help you" in a very hostile tone the gentleman said! I responded HELLO. He never said any type of greetings! He responded repeating "How can I help you"! His tone was very rude and unprofessional! They wouldn't do anything until Monday! 😕 I left there and called Ritner St. got an appointment for 11:00am today! Thanks Ritner St! Very courteous and professional!!

Do not bring your car here. It will come back worse than when you dropped it off. Dropped off for an inspection on a 4000 mile car. Told me the breaks and rotors needed to be replaced. I stupidly agreed and didn’t get pictures. When the breaks were replaced they didn’t install shim kits on two of the breaks and stripped two of my lug nuts. Just got off the phone with the manager who tried to say that since I switched from summer to winter tires last January the breaks would obviously be worn down. Previous service a few years ago they pinched my brake line while replacing the breaks.

Had a 1200 appointment. Saw no work being done at all and at 230 I finally asked when my car would be taken back and they said they weren’t going to get to it that day. I had the appointment for a simple inspection and there were at least 4 people working. I left.

I booked a 10:00am oil change appointment. Work on my car did not start until 1:45pm. The oil change itself didn’t take long - it was done by 2pm - but there was no reason given for the 4hour wait when I had made an appointment.

AVOID. Came here with a relatively new car and few miles just to get a state inspection. First off, was told the appt would be 1 hour and when I get there they said they will have it the entire afternoon. Get a call 4 hours later that it is done. I was told it did not pass the safety inspection due to brakes and windshield wipers (which I had replaced less than 1 week earlier). Tried to get me to keep my car over the weekend so they could install new brakes and rotors for close to $550. My father was able to get the parts for approx $100 and would do them if needed instead. Had an appointment with another local shop which I didnt cancel. Told them that Pep boys failed the inspection and what I was told (wasn't even given the brake thickness). The local shop passed my inspection, gave me a breakdown, said I had approx 3 more years on my brakes if I stay driving how I do. The guy working used to be at a Pep boys for 15 years and gave me a rundown on all the ways they will gaslight you into thinking you need work when you dont due to faulty wording in the Pennsylvania inspection protocol. Very shady business practices and likely takes advantage of consumers who do not have the time or means to be able to get service elsewhere. I would not recommend this location but if this is a wider business practice, I would advise looking elsewhere if possible.

Chris was friendly, professional and accommodating. He helped me out with a nuanced situation and I am very appreciative. This is my local pep boys location and I'm very happy with the current people working there. Thank you!

Got my car inspected and brake pads repaired to pass inspection. Waited for the work to be done and they got me in and out in less than a couple hours. Friendly staff without being annoyingly chatty.

Thomas was a life saver. I got charged $200 at another shop for an inspection and they were trying to overcharge me for the subsequent services. When I came into Pep Boys for a quote, Thomas helped me understand what needed to be done to my car and even gifted me a generous discount because of the ridiculous amount I’d paid for the inspection. The mechanic , Mamoon, did wonders on my car. The brakes no longer squeak and the rotors are fixed. Everyone was professional and respectful. Pep Boys also does do state inspections and for a much lower rate, obviously.

Kenneth and team were very kind and accommodating with getting my inspection done

Where to begin. If it wasn’t for being offered a partial discount (which now I question if that is even enough to compensate me for my wasted time and poor communication) I would have given one star. I had a scheduled appointment on a Tuesday at 10am. No one looked at my car until Wednesday. Then was told it would be ready Thursday. Thursday they said they didn’t get all the parts they needed in and it would be ready by Friday. Friday rolls around and they said their mechanic left before finishing the car and it would be ready Saturday. I called Saturday at 940 and they said it would be ready in 30 min they are just putting the lug nuts out on. 30 min go by and I look outside and my car is still up on stilts and they are doing an oil change. After an hr and 30 min my car is finally off the stilts and they go to start it and it’s dead. They had left a light on or something for too long and the battery was dead so they had to jump it. I finally get in my car and every tire pressure is set differently, my clocks are all wrong, and my messages aren’t reset. There are so many operational problems with this company I don’t even know where one would start trying to fix this problem. I’d find another mechanic at all costs.
