I can confirm the reviews here that say PDX Automotive provides reliable service that is truly needed by your car and does not overcharge by performing unnecessary ones. I had an oil change at Ron Tonkin and brought in the list of their recommended additional services. Todd reviewed it and made a guess about which ones I definitely needed, might need, and absolutely did not need. I left the car for inspection, and Todd called to confirm the needed services, which aligned with his expectations, for my approval before proceeding. My car was ready to pick up 5 hours after I dropped it off. Finding a friendly, efficient, and honest auto mechanic shop is invaluable.

Todd is such a great man - very respectful, honest , and genuine. he definitely deserves a raise if he hasn't gotten one. i walked in such a stressed mess and he was clearly having a very busy day and still took the time to help me out. I don't trust many mechanics but this place has my trust for a lifetime, one of the few car places where the mechanics won't rip you off.

Honesty is the policy of PDX Automotive. They do not "fix it" if it doesn't need it, and they do it right if it does. You will not get better results anywhere else.

I have had nothing but great experiences bringing our car to these folks. John is really fantastic. Well priced and honest. I recently had scheduled my wife's car for an oil change. We had some changes with a trip and they were able to get us in and out really quickly. Feel very lucky to have found this shop and grateful to not be going to the "stealership" any longer. Also, look at how they respond to negative reviews - that's a big indicator of a business being run well. Will continue to refer family and friends here

I first brought my 2007 Nissan Altima Hybrid to PDX Automotive after lots of frustration with the local Nissan dealership constantly trying to upsell me when all I needed was routine maintenance. This repair shop is a breath of fresh air. They've done two oil changes and safety inspections for me to date, and both times they gave me clear feedback on the condition of my car (tires, brake pads, etc.) and didn't try to sell me any services that it didn't need. The staff is courteous and knowledgeable, and always keeps me up-to-date on my car's status. If you're looking for an honest repair shop that does great work at a fair price, PDX Automotive is it.

Charged me $160+ for "diagnostics" and "parts" even tho the issue was exactly what I suggested it might be when I dropped the car off (after I spent 15 minutes googling). And they didn't even end up fixing anything... they just gave me a phone number to call to pay someone else to fix it. I feel scammed, and I would not recommend.

This was my first time at PDX Auto. They diagnosed and fixed the battery issues I was having with my Subaru Crosstrek hybrid and took care of the regular maintenance. Friendly staff, great communication. I will definitely be a returning customer.

Fast and honest. I thought for sure it was the starter. The car would not start. It was only a ground wire. They fixed it within hours and did not try to sell me on anything else. Very appreciative of their honesty and speed!

I spoke with John and his team was very kind. I wanted to have my car checked underneath after running over some metal on the road. While it wasn't a major concern, I wanted peace of mind since I had a road trip planned. They got me in and out within an hour. After a quick checkup, they confirmed that my car was fine and there were no issues. Although I was quoted $60, their internet was down, and they generously said it was free. I'm really happy with my first experience here and will definitely return for future needs.

PDX just did a safety check on 20 year old pickup. Requested this due to a small noise under the hood that seemed to be coming from the serpentine belt. They performed the inspection on time at a reasonable charge and recommended replacing the belt plus a few other minor maintenance services. They also identified a few other items to keep an eye on over the next year, but nothing that required immediate attention. Friendly, knowledgeable and professional. Will use them again!

Their website says that they are committed to gaining your trust. They gained mine fast. I took my car to PDX Auto because suddenly my car started making a very loud grinding noise coming from the front wheel. I didn't think I could wait to get an appointment to the place I usually take it, or that I could even drive it there. I was afraid it would be an expensive repair, but it wasn't. In a couple hours they found the problem: A small rock had gotten stuck somewhere in the braking system. That was it. Such a relief. I got my car back fast, the problem was simple and inexpensive to fix, and I found an honest place. Thank you!

Great work! Got an oil change, it got done in a reasonable amount of time and the price was fair. They also checked the usual things, air filter, tire pressure, windshield wipers and my headlights. I got a few of the suggestions delt with and left some for next time. Thanks for your great work!

I recently visited PDX Automative to diagnose a check engine light and asked them to check the brakes while they were at it. I did not receive a proper quote for the diagnostic work in advance, and to my surprise, I was charged $225 just for checking the car. The issue turned out to be extremely minor: the oil dipstick wasn't inserted properly. This is something I could have fixed myself in seconds. I feel this charge is insanely overpriced given the simplicity of the problem. What’s even more concerning is the lack of transparency regarding the cost beforehand. I believe it’s important for customers to be informed about potential charges upfront, especially when the solution is so straightforward. As a woman, I can't help but wonder if I was charged this much because of my gender. I’ve heard of similar experiences from other women, which makes me question if gender discrimination might have played a role in this situation. I am very disappointed with my experience at PDX Automative and feel that I was taken advantage of. I urge potential customers to be cautious and insist on a detailed quote before any work is done.

These guys are there best! Good, honest shop that has always given me great service at a great price. They've always been able to give me good advice so that I can make the best decisions moving forward. I highly recommend these guys. ALSO, they've installed a very expensive security measure (an electric fence) to insure that our vehicles are safe if they need to keep the car for multiple days, for big projects. I took my vehicle to PDX Auto for service on my brakes due to Jiffy Lube telling me I needed new front brakes. PDX Auto took a look at my vehicle and told me that I didn’t need brakes, but did need my tires rotated. They rotated my tires for no charge and only charged a small fee for looking at my brakes. It was so refreshing to go to a mechanic that didn’t find things wrong just to make money! I will definitely go back.

I had an appointment for a leak on a Tuesday, but when my engine light came on the previous Friday, Todd got me in for service. Accurate diagnosis, speedy repair, and other unrecognized issues diagnosed and resolved. Courteous service, reasonable prices. I'm glad I found PDX Automotive
