After going to the dealership, being overcharged and told to do service work not needed, I visited Motor City and couldn't be happier. They are wonderful to work with and always do quality job. I will continue to recommend them to friends and family.

I've taken my car to Motor City a few times and initially thought they were reliable and thorough. However, my recent experience left me pretty frustrated. I was told that everything related to my brakes needed replacement, which would cost nearly $2,000. They also mentioned the brakes should have been replaced 7,000–8,000 miles ago. However, when I brought my car for a previous brake check appointment (around 7-8,000 miles ago), they assured me my brakes were in good condition. I'm disappointed that they didn’t flag this issue during the first brake check, when I could have addressed the issue immediately and saved money. Whether it was a lack of thoroughness or poor communication, I’ve lost confidence in their service and won’t be returning. *EDIT: Thank you for your reply, but suggesting I misunderstood is disrespectful and inaccurate. "Your brakes should have been replaced 7-8,000 miles ago" is verbatim what was said to me during my latest appointment with you guys and I even talked about it further with the man at the front desk to get clarity, asking why this wasn't caught at the first brake appointment. Unless you are familiar with cars and know exactly what to ask/look for, I would not suggest going here. They have poor communication and will not explain issues to you accurately or thoroughly, and then blame you for misunderstanding. They also texted me using my personal phone # to tell me "think" about my review because I'm clearly an outlier and it's not an accurate representation of their work. This attempt to pressure me to change my review and blame me for the poor communication is completely unprofessional. I stand by my review and believe one star is accurate.

The crew at Motor City Garage are exceptional! I recently relocated from out-of-state & was nervous to find a trusted auto repair shop. We’ve all heard the stories… I’m so glad to have found MCG. I brought my car in when Motor City opened in the morning, and had it back by the early afternoon for an alternator replacement! Staff were very professional and helpful, would highly recommend for anyone looking for a reliable go-to mechanic in this area.

I recently had my Toyota Celica GTS engine replaced by the guys at Motor City Garage. They were more than professional in making the process as simple and easy as possible. Once they started it seemed like they were done before I had time to even hang up the phone. They are quick and thorough and I HIGHLY recommend them. They made a big job like that, seem like a cake walk. 5 stars everyday.

This was my first time going to Motor City and it was an incredible experience. Dane was fantastic. He was thorough and pricing was fair. Many of the other shops I called said they were weeks out to even inspect the car. Dane and his team had me in same day and had the car fixed a day before he said they would. What I most appreciated about Dane was how empathetic he was. This was a larger repair and the way he communicated with me really showed that he cared. It's rare to find a business with all five star reviews, especially a mechanic shop, but I can see why they have a five star rating.This is the only place I'll come to and recommend to all of my friends from now on.

Great shop! Fair prices and friendly techs/employees. The first time I used them was on a whim when my coolant system dumped all over Glenwood Ave near their location. I called them pretty close to closing time, perhaps even after closing, and I was able to get someone on the phone (I believe the owner). They allowed me to tow my vehicle to their parking lot after hours, put my keys in their secure drop box, and they fixed it the very next day with good communication throughout. Recommend!

Very good interaction. The repair was quickly performed and relevant explanations were offered. The solution proposed was cheaper than in other places, with exactly the same desired outcome, all within required specs. After the first visit I returned with my other car. Very knowledgeable personnel.

I'm a new customer of Motor City Garage. I have an old 2006 GMC pickup truck with 170,000+ miles on it that I bought a few years ago and I only put a few thousand miles per year on it. I did not have a reliable mechanic for my truck. I found out about Motor City Garage when they were recommended to me by Ted's Automatic Transmission (also excellent). I was having transmission problems that were defying diagnosis, and Teds' Automatic Transmission brought Motor City Garage into the process to rule out one possible cause of the transmission problems. Motor City Garage did their diagnosis and did not charge me a penny. Fast forward a few months, I was having problems with the ignition switch and I thought I might have multiple ball joints that needed replacement. Now, Motor City Garage could have changed out the ignition switch and charged me for that, and I never would have questioned it. But they researched and determined that there was a safety recall on the 2006 GMC truck for that ignition switch, and that safety recall was still in effect, and I could have the switch replaced at a GMC dealership for no charge. They also determined that I needed only 1 ball joint replaced. They performed the ball joint replacement and did the oil change also that I requested, and the price was very reasonable. The communication was excellent. I have complete confidence in these guys and really appreciated their honesty, and highly recommend them.

If you’re having car troubles, I HIGHLY recommend you bring your car here. Jonny and his team are honest hard working individuals and I can without a doubt say I’ve never been treated with more respect as a customer anywhere else. I’ve brought them my 2010 Toyota Corolla for everything, from an oil change to a rattling noise issue. They have always taken care of my car at a fair price. I had an exhaust leak from my resonator rusting out. The mechanics diagnosed this issue and replaced the resonator. I highly recommend this auto shop. The staff is kind, communication is great, and the work is excellent.

I have a 2017 Mustang that was having an issue with the clutch peddle, I called Motor City Garage and spoke to Johnny, he got me in right away, within a couple of hours they diagnosed the problem and had my car up and running in no time, ( which 3 Dealerships I took it to in the past, had no idea what the issue was )they are honest, friendly and very helpful, the customer service was top notch, I highly recommend these guys for any work you need done! I especially want to thank Johnny for all his help and going above and beyond to help me out. Thank you guys!

Rick Anderson These guys are absolutely outstanding! My 2001 Ford Lightning was screwed up so I took it to the Ford Dealership in Wake Forest. They couldn't figure out what was wrong so they recommended I take it to Ted's Transmission. Ted rebuilt the transmission but the truck was still screwed up. Ted recommended Motor City Garage and told me that "if they can't fix it, nobody can." Ted was exactly right. Motor City determined the problem was the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and persisted in getting the truck fixed. It took some time to find the PCM for this Ford Lightning but Motor City was extremely patient as we tried to locate a replacement PCM. This process took months and Motor City was certain the Lightning could be fixed. These guys are craftsman! They know what they're doing! Fundamentally, electrical problems are a nightmare but Motor City knew what to do. The Ford Dealer didn't really care because the truck was over 20 years old. I can't compliment these guys enough! As an electrical engineer, I wanted to drive my Lightning! Motor City made it work! September, 2024. Rick.

The BEST mechanic I’ve EVER been to. They won’t overcharge for unnecessary maintenance, the complete opposite actually. They’re always trying to find ways to save us on our car maintenance and issues & have done such fast and efficient work on both our vehicles! The people are genuinely kind & are always looking out! They are very reasonable in cost and did a good job with the work I had done to my car. I had a small whistle and they had me come back and they repaired it immediately. Car is running great. I will be going back to them again for any future repairs. I definitely recommend them.

Eddie, Dane and the guys at Motor City are spot on professional in every way. I was having an issue with my AC on my Jeep Grand Cherokee and was directed to them by a friend. Called the guys and immediately got Eddie on the phone, told him the problem and he said bring it in the next day. They had my Jeep in the garage and diagnosed within a few hours. Eddie sent me a digital quote so I knew what was happening before any work was done which I thought was fantastic. I agreed to the quote, they ordered the parts and had my jeep done within 48 hours. Their pricing, communication and work are beyond anything I was expecting. I will definitely send my cars to them again and recommend them to anyone needing service.
