First of the month was a Saturday I needed an inspection done. Was able to get a appt quickly by the friendly staff. Got inspection and some other work done in a timely manner while I waited. 10/10

2025 Update.. We had to replace the engine and because the engine was bad the new catalytic converter needed to be replaced. We were told by the dealership who replaced the engine to see if Midas would warranty the catalytic converter. Midas said they would since it was under warranty. Midas had the car towed to their shop and they are currently replacing the catalytic converter. I respect them a little more for this so I gave them 3 stars. Update ... original post under this update . We took the tucson to Mac Macdonald and they looked at it to get an estimate to fix the issue. Their statement to us was why did they replace the catalytic converter when the engine was bad, they also stated why did they suggest replacing the spark plugs and ignition coil module on #4 when that cylinder fails compression tests, Mac Macdonald stated no real mechanic or shop would have suggested replacing the plug and coil module when it is clear that number 4 cylinder wasn't even firing. So basically a new engine or a total rebuild is needed to fix her car. Over $2500.00 we forked out to midas when the engine was bad and any honest mechanic would have told you the truth and that the engine was bad. We truly trusted Midas and thought they were helping us but it turns out to be a grab your money and run scheme. We are debating about getting legal advice over this. It's going to cost us $6100 to replace the engine with Midas's shady work a total of $8600.00 so she has her car again. To anyone thinking of going to Midas of Richmond you are warned and I hope you listen. Take your vehicle to Mac Macdonald or any other place than Midas of Richmond. ‐------------ I really do not know what to think of Midas. We took my wife's tucson in to see what the issue was. I believed it was the catalytic convertor was clogged but earlier that day we had the oil changed and Jiffy lube stated there was signs of water in the oil so that is why we took it to midas. We told them about the loss of power and what Jiffy Lube stated. We wanted answers. Well $2000.00 for the catalytic convertor to be replaced and to fix a donut that was leaking exhaust due to the catalytic convertor being bad. We were told it was ready and that the spark plugs should be replaced. No comment on the water in the oil. We got the car back and it would not idle correctly, It was missing bad. so we turned around and told them about it. They recommended we drive it to see how it does. Well, White smoke popped out of the exhaust which had me worrying because of what jiffy lube stated. We let them know and returned the next day to have them look at it. Well their suggestion was to replace the plugs and one coil. $500 dollars later we have the car back, told they saw no signs of water in the oil and that the car was good to go. Well it still doesn't idle good and it is still puffing out white smoke, it's a random thing that has happened 3 times since we got it back. We are not rich but it seems like Midas just tried one thing then another and just bills us for it even though it did not fix the issue. Right now I am wondering if the engine going to blow, is it ok to drive? I have no idea. Not sure if I would recommend Midas to anyone. I will add that they are polite, friendly and the fact they loaned us a car while they worked on it is an A plus. But the issue with the white smoke and the idling seem to be no problem to them since they replaced the spark plugs and told us it was "GOOD TO GO" . signed "Worried my wife will be stuck on 95 with a blown engine."

Midas of Richmond goes above and beyond to give you excellent service at a reasonable price. Just as importantly, their communication is wonderful. Text messages keep you updated with your car's progress, including pictures of what is being done and why. Plus, the owner is an award winning philanthropist who gives back to the community in many creative and inspiring ways. I would recommend Midas of Richmond to anyone.

The staff here, Don and Ebony, are always friendly, understanding and helpful. They are straightforward with their assessments, recommendation, and never pressure us to have work done we cannot afford - just give their professional opinion. Prices have been fair, and service is always timely. They also provide loaner when they can & as mom with three kids I really appreciate it.

Went in to get simple state inspection on car. Told them to also check thermostat as the car was running cold. They came back with a quote for 2k stating I needed brand new tires and brand new rear brakes. Also stated the thermostat was fine because coolant was in the car?? Insisted it was a radiator problem and wanted to charge me $100+ to “run some tests” I declined. Took my car to the dealer to double check what Midas had told me. They stated I do not need new brakes, nor tires anytime soon. Also stated that there was an issue with the thermostat, like I had stated. They fixed thermostat for free since it was covered under warranty. I had also had a previous inspection at the boulevard location with a different car and they also told me I needed new tires… Avoid Midas at all costs they will try to get you to make repairs to your car that is not needed.

I went in for an inspection ($20), and walked out paying $144. They always upsell here. When they said I needed an air filter, I asked how much and the mechanic said it was $52, so I said fine. He didn’t make it clear that I needed two filters. I went online each filter is less than $25. So how did I end up paying $124 for filters? I should have known better. Came here years ago and they did the same thing - it’s why I don’t typically go to Midas or Goodyear. Sooooo mad about this!

Don is a lifesaver — and I mean that literally. I was convinced I had destroyed my moms one and only car fob (because of course, she only has one) and I was ready to plan my escape to a remote island rather than face her wrath. Enter Don, who swooped in like the hero of an action movie, calmly diagnosing the issue, and what felt like a split second, fixed it. I couldn’t believe it — what I thought was the end of the world (or at the least the car fob’s life) was no big deal for Don. He not only saved the day but also saved me from the “You broke my only fob” speech I had been dreading. Thanks, Don — you’re the reason I’m still my mom’s favorite child (for now)! Highly recommend him for any car related crisis or general heroism!

I rarely take the time to write reviews. However, this location recommended to me that i remove and replace my serpentine belt every 3-5,000 miles. After research at home, it came to light that this only needs to happen every 100,000 miles! Incredible! What a scam. this would have been a $200 service. Good thing I did my homework!

I'm a huge fan of Midas and have taken my cars to about 3 of the shops within the Richmond Area. During my recent visit, I brought my car to this location at Willow Lawn to be inspected. The best part of the experience was having access to a loaner car and receiving a prompted response regarding my car inspection. I was able to drop my car off and pick it up on the same day. Grateful for the pheneomenal service provided by the Midas team at the Willow Lawn location. - YB

Most friendly autoshop I’ve ever been to - so helpful and prompt. Let me bring my kids in the waiting area, which I know is annoying. Also so impressed that they let GRTC bus operators use their restroom. I’ll be back for sure.

I went to this place Saturday August 3 2024. With a check engine light on, they said was the canister and recommended other services to fix the issue. After $858 and one day me check engine light is on again. Not recommended. Edit: August 10,2024. I took my car back because a district manager called me during the week, she told me they let them know that I will be today. They rejected to take the car. When to other shop and they fix the issue, Different than was diagnosed on Midas.

They are fantastic! Eboni was very professional and sweet when getting paperwork and payment straight! Blake worked a miracle on my car. Aside from that, he was very understanding and explained things/ showed me evidence of things so I could make a knowledgable decision. No haggling, no pressure. Pure care and respect from the employees! I highly recommend going to this location for any of your car needs!
