My compressor for my A/C (1234yf) went out (seized) and I needed to evacuate the system so I could replace all the parts. They let me come in to evacuate and then I would come back at a later day to recharge the system. Unfortunately the repairs on my car took longer then expected and I was hurting for time to travel back home. So on a Friday they squeezed me in to get the system charged. Even though the dude had other stuff going on, he did a thorough job. They couldn't confirm if it blew cold as my pressure switch wasn't working. But I put the original switch back on and the system works. Long story short Macs is a great shop with awesome friendly people. Would use again for A/C. 👍

I am a bit disappointed I took my escalade to Macs for a Cooling system Issue I was told the radiator was bad. The connections for the transmission Cooler hoses were leaking and it had failed the pressure test. So I paid them a hefty amount of money over $1k to do the Radiator, Hoses, and thermostat. I got the vehicle back with coolant all over the engine bay. Still dripping down the front of the block, A big Puddle where the extra battery goes. So a few months later. I went for an oil change at another business and the tech told me my radiator was leaking. So I went back to Macs, they had zero notes in their system about the repair and tried to argue that the original issue was not the Transmission cooler lines leaking. Then tell me that the internal O-rings where the Transmission cooler lines attach have failed and likely I need a new radiator ( This is the Radiator they Installed See Orignal Problem). I reminded them it was their radiator... it became the Quick Connect Fittings that were the issue $134 I didn't feel I should pay this but I did out of principal. I was told the fittings would likely leak and the transmission hard lines needed to be replaced. This diagnostic is all over the place. If that is the case why was it never mentioned the first time with the original radiator repair? It does not compute that if the O-rings in the connection have failed how is it the hard lines? I think they bought a cheap radiator and installed it. Likely using "universal parts" however I do not know that for a fact. This is what I know for a fact, my radiator still leaks from the transmission cooler fittings on the Radiator... Cody Matthews

What a phenomenal experience! 5+++ The night before our wheelchair van sprung a coolant leak & I couldn't see the source. I had to take our daughter to an important medical appointment in the morning. I hoped the van wouldn't overheat & seize the engine. Made it to the facility & called Mac's about 9:30. Walter answered & asked clear questions & kindly asked if I could get in before lunch time. I made it back ok & arrived at 11:40. I pulled up & within a minute 2 people were on it & found the problem. I could see they could have put me off but offered to work into the lunch hour to get us back on the road in an hour +. Reasonable price too. That was so huge, what with the weekend coming & more medical appointments the next day or two & another car could not be substituted as the van lift is essential. Their kind service saved us so much grief that would have occurred on into the next week had they not stepped up. They sure did, & I have not had such amazing service anywhere in decades! My top recommendation. I plan to go back to Mac's for service and actually will do that tomorrow about an electrical problem that just showed up. Anyone who goes should check out superb photography in the waiting room there by Walter: matted prints that would make a fine gift. I've been telling a bunch of folks about my great experience. Give them a try.

If you're looking for an honest no BS shop, this is it. I love this place so much. I pride myself on being able to do a lot of work myself, and I trust only them and my own brother to touch my car. I've had other shops make mistakes or damage things, but they have ALWAYS been amazing. They're super prompt to get appointments set, always very quick but thorough with repairs and checks, HONEST, exceptionally affordable, and when I say ALL of their staff are beyond kind - I mean ALL of them. I've had nothing but good experiences in the year I've been taking my car there, and cant recommend them enough. Thanks Mac's auto for being awesome 🤘

MAC's is awesome! They were suggested to me by folks in the Mustang club as one of the only places they would take their cars. I took my '64 Falcon for a smoke issue. Restoration Rods suggested a new motor at $14k :( MAC's was able to diagnose the issue and $4k later is running like a dream! And No smoke! I know where I'll be taking my car from now on. Always amazing service ... Second time I've used macs and it was just as great the second time... Told them the budget I was working with and when an unexpected report came up that wasn't originally seen they did their best to still keep within my budget I had for the repairs that were currently being done. Would highly recommend them to anyone needing repairs!

I had Max redo the top end of my Chevy. They would not guarantee any of their work they had their top tech pull it apart and then had some young kid put it back together and now my truck sits in my driveway

I have trusted Mac's Radiators with three of my vehicles. I say this because I usually do all my own mechanic work. I don't trust most mechanic shops. I decided to use Mac's because when I didn't have time to get to my vehicle I asked very specific questions on how my vehicle would be treated and I was surprisingly confident with the answers I was given. They showed me they were competent and experienced when it came to the issues my vehicle needed addressed. Because of the exemplary work they performed I have continued to use them when I don't have the time to get to my vehicles. I was not disappointed and I don't think you will be either. Give them a try. They may help take care of your vehicle and restore some confidence in the industry like they did for me.

I recently decided it was time to replace the radiator and thermostat on my 2002 Jeep Wrangler. After doing some research on repair shops and talking to a few friends I decided to give Mac’s Automotive a call. I spoke with Walter and told him what I wanted done. He quickly gave me a quote and said he could get the parts that day. I dropped off my vehicle and by 4pm the next day I got a call saying it was done and ready to be picked up. I’m always expecting the dreaded up sale call saying I need to get additional work done or that another problem was found. Not in this case, just a good, honest, repair shop doing the work I requested. I was very happy with the end result and the fair price. Plus their warranty is excellent! I highly recommend Mac’s if you’re looking for a great shop to repair and service your vehicles.

These guys fix more than radiators. They have fixed numerous problems with my older RV that other shops have either caused or didn't know what to do. Their pricing is fair. I've been going there for about 8 years. Oh, and about 4 years ago they fixed my radiator after two other reputable shops could not figure it out. It's never overheated since! New post: Several years since my last post, I still see Walter at Macs in Garden City every so often. Every repair is well done and priced right. Best of all, Walter is about as honest as they come-- he'll tell you what needs to be done and what could be done. I've probably used 15 mechanics in the Boise area over the past 40 years. Macs is not only the best overall experience, they are a well-run business that works hard for its customers. I can't say enough good about this place. (I don't know them personally, and this is really just a regular customer with a lot of old cars that need TLC).

Great work, power steering hose rubbed against the low pressure line of AC and wore a hole on it, they were able to braze shut the hole since no parts available locally, even pressure wash clean the engine bay, other shops would probably have to wait for parts to arrive and replace the hose.

I feel so lucky to find Mac's Radiator in Boise, I have a 2007 motorhome and needed a new fan clutch. It's not an easy part to match up and Walter knew exactly the part to order. They allowed me to arrive the night prior and park there and at 8:00am they were working on my rig. Efficient, knowledgeable and kind is how I would describe them all. I was on the road in a few short hours and the repair was perfect. It's always a gift when you find a great small shop with smart mechanics. I highly recommend them. Walter has some amazing photography displayed in the shop also, be sure to take a look.

A couple of months ago I got a Groupon for two oil changes at Macs. They went absolutely above and beyond. I am a single mom, two babies and all within 2 weeks prior to receiving my last oil change I lost my job and received a three day eviction notice. I was completely broke and grateful to have gotten that Groupon when I did because my car was starting to ride real rough. When receiving my oil change, they informed me that my brakes and rotors were all bad and They were not comfortable, letting me drive my car off. Feeling completely overwhelmed And hopeless, I explained a little bit about my circumstances at the moment And they decided to bless me by replacing all of my brakes and rotors for free. I really have no words that could express What a huge impact that made in my life. I knew that my brakes were bad, but I was drowning and Didn’t have any Chance of fixing them. There, Gen Asa towards me very well could’ve saved mine and my children’s lives and other drivers lives as well. I Felt like everything was crashing down all at the same time and at that point, I was just so desperate for one thing to go right. I felt so defeated and I was so ready to give up. They Instilled hope in my spirit and similar to the chain reaction of hardships id been experiencing, the hope they gifted me with gave me an optimistic outlook and filled me with such gratitude that I became open to a chain reaction of blessings. More than words, thank you. ** To make my car safe to drive the cost was over $800 and they did it free of charge. I am so very grateful and blessed. Thank you :)

I found Mac’s 5 years ago by chance, and it is the only place I’d ever take my car. They are super helpful and nice and, unlike every other place I've ever taken my car, they never suggest work that doesn't need to be done. As a woman this feels like gold to have found a place you can actually TRUST is going to not take advantage of you. They are reasonably priced and have integrity. I recommend this place to everyone I talk to.
