Chosen this place for the reviews but my experience was not great and the review response is revisionist history to say the least. I was told when dropping off the car that it would be garaged while awaiting service and was aware of the backlog of cars. I accepted this because I was told it would be covered and garaged. When I came by the shop 3 months later it for a progress update was still outside before work had even started. I had it garaged 20 years only to have the panels rusted at the shop. Anyone who lives in TX knows how brutal our weather can be, and to have an antique in rain, hail, and the blistering sun after setting the expectation it would be covered is extremely disheartening. Vito should have never set the expectations if he couldn't keep them, and upon not being able to have my car covered, he hould have reset expectations instead of me finding out it was sitting outside for 3-4 months in rain/hail. I even had to purchase a car cover out of pocket, to have it covered while at the shop as you guys didn't do what y'all said you would do. As per the engine preference, this is correct as I did want a Ford engine in my Ford car over a Chevy. I made this choice when I was told this could be done by Vito for about 3k extra and was told it would be 12-15k for the completion of the job from start to finish and would take an additional 3 months to find the Ford Parts After the price of 15k was agreed upon, Vito called literally when I was on vacation with my family and explained it would be more like 25k and demanded I make a 7k payment over the phone right then and there. Not sure who has an extra 7 thousand dollars sitting in their account to throw away but unfortunately I'm not one of those people. To anyone reading this, Don't make the same mistake as I did and get everything in writing. There was never a missed payment I took out a credit card that weekend and payed you guys the following week. I know that because I'm still paying for it after you guys went 15k over the agreed budget. On top of that, I was told the liquids were full and my engine oil was bone dry and my antifreeze line had a leak. I saved over 3 years to get my car running and y'all left it outside because as you said over the phone " you guys took in too many cars during covid, sorry about that" Honesty is a virtue. I've added before and after photos, as the first was taken before the loading truck. **I have all the invoice paid dates documented. Be happy to show they were all paid on time.

I have been coming here to get my car fixed over the past couple of years and always feel as though I am in good hands. I am so happy with the professionalism and work that is done. I feel like I am treated fairly and never taken advantage of. I have never been disappointed, and would give this shop my highest recommendation to anyone that is looking for a new place to bring their car, Thank you!!

When we first brought our car to Jerry we were excited my husband has a 1987 Caprice his first car he wanted to put a Efi kit on . Being that the car had sat in the Garage for 10 yrs we knew it would need more work and we were prepared for it. So our first problem was 1 we had to pay a 2500 deposit we were ok with that. No work had been done to the car. The next month he ask for 5000 car still was sitting.. We paid it so once they started working on the car he called and said the car needed something so we paid 2500 .. so mind you they have had our car for about 2 mths by then and we had done paid 10000 and no car. Every month after that till Aug we were paying for something .. the car still was not done .. In Aug we decided to pick the car after paying near 17,000 dollars .. and he was still calling us telling us they needed more money .. So I was like no .. we picking up our car .. We picked up the car and had to push it on the trailer one would think after spending 20,000$ we would have a running car .. Nope it needed a throttle cable and kick down cable which they could have put on but wanted to charge us another 1200 for parts thats cost 50$ So we picked it up and took it else where to put the cables on.. while there the car would not start .. so we Contacted Jerry and we had to take it back .. the Starter was burnt out mind you it was suppose to be a New starter that they had put on .. then we paid them also to replace the flywheel which they had suggested . After them having the car for 2 weeks once we dropped it back off I called them they said we burnt the starter out also that they told us the flywheel needed to be replaced I was like we paid you to do that. So he let it slip it was not done and thats y the starter went bad.. They ended up fixing what needed to be fixed.. UPON arrival to pick the car up they were rude . walking into the door the guy had his arm out with the keys. They didnt speak just handed me the keys .. They were Rude .. I was trying to ask what did they repair they walked away.. Being that I have paid 20000 cash to fix my car. I expected to be respected .. Its not on me you messed up and had to fix ur mess up . I have been very calm doing this whole thing . . Honestly they are a Ripe Off Overcharging for services. I will recommend that you do your research before allowing them to work on classic Car .. They come really genuine, but in the end, they end up being butt holes. And overpriced

This place is beyond amazing. Took my 76 eldorado to Pampered auto care. Check their review) They told me it would be my cam and I'm looking at over 3500 bucks. Looked online for good mechanics that work on my car. Saw Jerry's. I pull up the owner came out to admire my ride* mind you, (Pampered told me it was junk) JERRYS THE OWNER CAME OUT FIXED IT WHILE I STOOD THERE. the cable was lose from the accelerator to the carburetor. He didn't charge me a red cent. These people are genuine. Even the lady in the from was a sweet as can be. You wanna take your car where people actually care? And noy get ripped off Take it to Jerry Dixon. I even scheduled maintenance on my other car.

Chose Dixon's because of the "positive reviews." I had them LS swap my 1987 Silverado V10 because I didn't, and still dont, have time or a shop or garage big enough to do it myself. I drove the truck up with a tired tbi350/700r4 combo in it, and a used "complete pullout" LM7/4L60E in the bed, ecu, pedal (dbw) and all. No issues with the original engine/trans in the truck before other than the A/C needed to be pulled down and charged, and the lack of power and fuel mileage of course. Long story short, I get it back 5 1/2 months and a small fortune later. It has a coolant leak, A FUEL LEAK, a grinding noise that turned out to be my xfer case, and an A/C that has a "chatter" when you turn it on. The xfer case had NEVER made any noise, but when I droving it home it would grind intermittently. I messaged Dixon's about it while driving home, and the days after, and just got..."check the u-joints", "try turning the a.c. off, might be the tensioner chattering". I don't even have 350 miles on the swap, the majority of which was driving home, and I've already had to go back through the fuel system, had to rebuild my xfer case, hook up my tranmission lines correctly because they ordered the wrong radiator then didnt hook up the trans lines to the radiator, only to the little factory aux cooler. The aftermarket aluminum radiator they ordered and installed has trans fittings on the drivers side, my transmission lines are on the passenger side, so they just hooked them up to the original 10"x12" aux cooler - lucky it didn't burn the damn transmission up on the way home?! Very unprofessional. They are nice over the phone, and in person for that matter, but that's the only positive. Ultimately, when it comes down to it, a nice crook - is still a crook. I highly suggest taking your repair/project somewhere else, these guys are shiesters.

Where do I start, the friendly and helpful attitude was apparent from the moment we walked in. They gave us accurate information and recommendations and we didn't feel pressured to take the service at all. Our car was treated with care, they offered warranty on labor and parts ! They took the proper time to do a job well done indeed! Thank you Jerry Dixon we will be coming back.

After bringing my vehicle to Jerry Dixon shop to get my A/C system, alternator issues repaired to my 81' Cutless, and driving it 5 x after pick up alternator belt continuously kept busting and a/c has gone out. For the cost of labor, and part you would think warranty would be extended longer than 6 months. In the process of dealing with the staff here at Jerry's was not very pleasant and welcoming. Very disappointed w/ the amount of money spent and effort they gave to assist with my vehicle issues.

Can't say enough good things about this shop. They know their stuff and they will give you an honest and transparent experience that's hard to find these days when it comes to classic car repair. Huge thanks to Kelly, Chris, Angie, and the whole crew at Jerry Dixon's

In May 2023 I flew from Burbank, CA to Austin, TX to possibly purchase a 1965 Corvair from a private seller. Prior to my trip I arranged to have Dixon's Automotive evaluate the car. The seller and I brought the car to Dixon's one morning and that afternoon I had a very thorough and detailed report. The report was mostly positive, so I bought the car. Everyone at Dixon's was both fully professional and very nice. They spent over an hour to go over the report with me. I highly recommend them. If I lived in Austin I would have them do the necessary repairs.

My husband Luis and I can’t say enough good things about Jerry Dixon’s! They’ve done tons of work on his classic cars and trucks (from basic repairs all the way to engine rebuilds) and have squeezed our daily drivers from America to European made vehicles for some standard maintenance. The quality of work is excellent, service is always wonderful and it’s really the only shop in the Austin area that we trust, hands down!

Feb 06, 2024

There’s very few reasonable, honest, and trustworthy shops in this space, and Jerry Dixon is one of them. Full restorations, which is what they worked on for me, are always going to cost more than you anticipate due mostly to uncontrollable unknown items (and a little lack of self discipline) but these guys did everything they could to keep costs down and execute in a timely manner. They’ve also stayed true to their word post build and have honored their warranty. Great people.

Took care of my '94 bronco. There was a lot wrong, and they went above and beyond to make sure everything was working smoothly for me. Several complex parts were flawlessly fabricated on site. They even took the time to make sure that my new shocks matched the paint color! I also noticed a number of other thoughtful details that were fixed just because they could. I would absolutely recommend Jerry Dixon to anyone with an older vehicle.

I had a problem and Kelly responded quickly. He was very polite and he resolved it quickly. I would recommend him. He takes pride in his work and company!

Jerry Dixon’s really helped me out when I was in a bind. Sorry to be mysterious, but I’m not sure they want to provide this type of service often so I don’t want to list it here. Suffice to say they took good care of my 1930 Buick and gave a newcomer to the area some very valuable advice and assistance from hundreds of miles away. Also, their rates are reasonable.

Feb 06, 2021

These guys know the classic cars. I have taken two of my cars to Dixon's and they have been honest and very fair. I would recommend them to anyone. Thanks guys. Lee Little - 72 Cutlass & 66 Mustang

Feb 06, 2020

Extremely honest, communicative, and upfront. Pricing is great and they even talked me out of unnecessary services that would've wasted my money. Definitely recommend them and will use them again for my '88 300ZX.

I took my 1995 Dodge 4X4 Ram to Jerry"s 7 years ago and had the engine rebuilt. Truck still running great. I had an issue with my 2008 Dodge Durango, the ABS/ESP/BAS lights were on. This was on the Friday before Memorial Day. I called them and just asked if they could check the codes for me. They said bring it on down. The Shop Foreman came out and had the equipment to check the codes. He spent 30 min. checking and clearing the codes. He told me what to do. He would not take any money for this service just a hand shake and have a good have a great Holiday. They made my Holiday , Just Great People....Thanks You I'll be back

After an initial misunderstanding, Kelly reached out to me and was very professional. I feel there team is extremely knowledgeable and willing to do what it takes to ensure customer satisfaction. I will continue to use them in the future.

Feb 06, 2018

i was passing through texas on a road trip in my 86 nissan 720 and couldn't find a single mechanic who would work on my truck. the people at jerry dixon told me to come on down and they would help me out. they checked out my car and fixed it in a breeze and i was on my way with a smooth running truck! everyone there was incredibly friendly and helpful, the sweetest people i've met in a while. highly recommended!

Feb 06, 2017

High quality repair work at a fair price from a a family-owned outfit. Extremely pleasant transaction all along and they provided a better diagnosis of what was causing seized brake calipers.

Feb 06, 2016

I have brought all my vehicles to Jerry for YEARS. Everything from a 40 foot diesel motor home to a Jeep. ALWAYS got the best of service. Everything got repaired right the first time. But, honesty is Dixon Automotive's biggest selling point. They charge a fair price for their repair work; you never have the feeling that you've been "taken to the cleaners." Even though Jerry has passed on, those same attributes continue with the Dixons, Kay, Kelly, and Aaron.

Feb 06, 2016

These guys are simply the best! They are the most decent, honest and reliable guys I've ever dealt with. We've done business with them for over 2 decades, and I'll never take my vehicles anywhere else. Thanks Jerry and crew!

Feb 06, 2015

Mr. Jerry Dixon and his team are truly one-of-a-kind! They are knowledgeable; recognized and respected in Austin (several auto shops around town send customers to Mr. Dixon because they know he's honestly the best at what he does); honest and genuine (I've had Mr. Dixon and Mr. Tommy both ride in my car with me on more than one occasion to hear the sound my car was making so I didn't have to imitate it and make an ass of myself; reliable (they replaced my compressor about 5 months ago at the best price possible & didn't screw me around). I replaced my battery a few months ago (after new compressor was put in), and the computer stopped "talking" to the compressor recently, so it needed to be reset. They figured that out and fixed it at no charge in about an hour today - despite the fact that they are short-handed and have a ton of cars they are working on right now. They are old-school in every way and very consistent about taking good care of their customers.

My mother and I have always used jerry and have never been done wrong and since ive moved away I still have trust issues with any other mechanics

Feb 06, 2015

This place is absolutely the best.

Feb 06, 2014

Jerry and his crew are THE BEST! True car nuts who can handle anything from routine maintenance, to collision repair, to complete classic car restorations. They're honest, frugal with the customer's money, they get it done right the first time. They're just really pleasant to deal with. They've saved me lots of money on a Dodge truck and an Acura, and have done the same for other folks I know who've taken both Japanese and domestic cars there.

Feb 06, 2012

Honesty is the most important thing about a Auto Repair Shop, besides expertise I have had experience with hundreds of places through my 40+ years and you can't find a place so honest! They have saved me and many others thousands of dollars in unnecessary repairs.
