I waited over 3 hours for my inspection. Staff very friendly, but their operations were inexcusable. I will not return and I do not recommend this service shop.

All of the mechanics are really good, but for heaven's sakes please teach some customer service skills to the lady in the front desk, i go there everytime and hope she's not there. Sarcastic comments, passive aggressive, not sure what her problem is.

I am writing this while I am in line for inspection. They tried to make waiting in a hot summer queue for inspection more tolerable. They distributed free cold water and donuts. I liked the way they respected to the customers. And they took care of customers in line by sending customers to shade. These small things are lovely.

I have brought multiple cars/suvs here for various needs (state inspections, emissions, oil changes, brakes etc). This shop is not only convenient, but honest and fair. I recently randomly dropped by this busy location for a random favor, and Brad was super accommodating! This will always be my go to local shop.

Go somewhere else. Only appear to service one car at a time- waited 2+ hours in a 5 car line to get my inspection done. Appears to be no sense of urgency, staff walking around smoking cigarettes.

HORRIBLE. HAD AN APPOINTMENT FOR 8:30AM TO GET BRAKES INSPECTED. MADE THE APPOINTMENT WITH BRAD THE DAY BEFORE. ARRIVED EARLY FILLED OUT THE PAPERWORK FORM ON THE COUNTER (NO ONE THERE!) & THEN WAITED 30 MINUTES UNTIL 8:45 STILL NO ONE AT SERVICE COUNTER. THEN WAS TOLD BY THE OWNER “CHICK” -WE’RE VERY BUSY! AND WE DON’T MAKE APPOINTMENTS— “WE CAN’T SEE YOU TODAY. WE TELL EVERYONE TO COME AT 8:30 I’VE BEEN HERE 50 YEARS” DIDN’T EVEN OFFER TO GIVE ME A COURTESY RIDE HOME & LEAVE MY CAR. AS A DISABLED VETERAN, NEVER HAVE I BEEN TREATED WITH SO MUCH DISCOURTESY. THEIR WEBSITE “ We Strive to Keep You Satisfied at Jermantown Shell” & “help identify problems with your car, and get them fixed right away.” IS COMPLETELY FALSE. RUDE & UNPROFESSIONAL. NEVER AGAIN.

Had a flat tire on a Saturday and drove straight to Jermantown Shell in hopes of getting it fixed within a few hours. Juan saw me right away, brought the car in, and quickly fixed the flat so I could move on with my day. Great people, good price, quick service.

I absolutely love bringing my car here for my state inspection and any repairs. I've read a few of the negative reviews about being taken advantage of, especially when it comes to females, and I cannot agree. My roommates and I have brought our cars here for years. We're all female with little to no knowledge about cars and we've never been ripped off. Every mechanic here is fair, reasonable, and extremely professional. Another huge plus is I had an exhaust leak and they offered to weld it rather than replacing the whole exhaust system which would have been hugely expensive. I did recently have a small blip where I came during the allotted state inspection hours and they were closed unexpectedly, but a small price to pay for the fantastic service I've received over the years. Don't worry about the negative reviews. You're going to get a great customer experience here, guaranteed.

I had a pleasant experience at the Shell on Jermanton road. Brad the manager handled me well. They resolved my service engine soon light that had been on for over a year. Price was reasonable too. I will definitely be returning when I have car issues and recommend Shell to family and friends.

I intend to keep updating this review for as long as I'm using the service of Jermantown Shell. As of November 2023, lowered my rating to 4 stars. Please see details below. October 2021, first review: I used to go to Jermantown Shell for safety inspections until I moved to Chantilly about 8 years ago. After the move I started using a shop near my new place and it's been ok. But last year they wouldn't pass my car unless work was done to the front break. I was somewhat suspicious but just wanted to be done with it so I let them. This year before going in I was joking with my wife whether they'd pull the same trick, and I'd get a second opinion should they. Lo and behold, the report came in and the inspection failed due to rust on the rear break pads and rotors. Mind you I had put at most several hundred miles on the car since the last inspection because of the pandemic. They quoted me $440 for the work “needed”. I went to a second place and was told the same thing and handed a $380 quote. Finally decided to go back to Jermantown Shell despite the distance and having to use Uber. To be honest while I was hoping for a different verdict I didn't really expect it. Yet a few hours after I dropped off my car I got the call that it passed the inspection and was ready for pick up. When I picked up my car I let Mike know how much I appreciated their honesty. Jermantown Shell is now my go to place again. October 2022 Update: went back in October for safety along with oil change and rotation. They did exactly what’s asked, no up sell nonsense. November 2023 Update: It's pretty "eventful" this time. Brought my car in for oil change, rotation, VA state inspection, and asked for check/work on transmission fluid if necessary. Got the call several hours later, transmission fluid looked good, but a leak in the exhaust line needed to be fixed for the state inspection to pass (quote ~$550). It's expensive but since they still had my trust I said ok, but it was too late for them to get the part so I told them I'll be back next Saturday. When I paid for service already performed I was charged twice for the inspection - it's included as a line item on the large pink slip, but on the regular while receipt the charge for the inspection was added again on top of the total from the pink slip. I pointed it out and they refunded it. Next Saturday I brought the car in and they fixed it at the previously quoted price. But during the following week I noticed something weird with the car - from time to time there was the feeling of weird friction and vibration through the steering wheel and break pedal, sometimes with audible noise. It wasn't always present. I took the car back but wasn't hopeful they could find the issue since I can't always duplicate it myself. In the end, I was told the problem was caused by a flashlight a technician left on some "mount" in my car while fixing the exhaust issue. I've only driven the car once since and haven't noticed the weird thing happening yet, but if it happens again I'll update this review for future development. I'm debating with myself whether to change the rating. On the one hand, it proved that they really looked for the issue, on the other, even if both the double charge and the forgetfulness are honest mistakes, it's a bit more that I expected. I also worry exactly where the flashlight was left and what kind of damage it may have caused during my week of driving - I should probably have asked specifically, but I'd expect them to explain a little more in detail. So, I decided to take a star off my rating to reflect my experience this time, but at this point still plan on going back to them next year.

I went to this location for a safety inspection. The man working was friendly and nice. The wait was a bit long but he was very efficient for the amount of customers in the line. I would come back again.

It took 2 1/2 hours to get my car inspected today. Only three cars ahead of me so not sure what the issue is. The inspector was a grumpy guy who seemed to enjoy finding fault with my car. My car is a 1997 so I rely on inspectors to let me know it’s safe.

My 2014 Camry needed to replace one of tire pressure sensor, I asked for estimate from difference gas station, auto shop and Toyota dealer. Jermantown Shell is the one gave me the right price $130. The other shops asked for more or persuade me to replace all 4 TPMS. Brad is the one give me the estimate and he has Chick to give me a ride home because it took about 3 hours to wait for the job to complete. Both guys are very polite and honest. 👍👍and 5 ⭐️ rating.

My fiancé and I brought in his truck to get the catalytic converter shield protectors he bought on his own installed. They were able to do it for a much more affordable price than what the dealership offered and were super quick!

My wife was driving on 495 and the check engine light came with an indicator that the alternator needed attention. She drove it to Jermantown Shell, which was right off 66 and Brad did a wonderful job diagnosing and explaining the problem. The car needed a new alternator and the mechanics at Jermantown Shell fixed the car within 24 hours. Overall, the customer service was excellent, the repair was fast, and the entire process was smooth.

Please be aware of this station if you gonna done any service in your car or inspection . I did car inspection 02/23 and guy he is name Brad told me your car is not safe to drive and you have to repair your car and pay 620 dollars to get the inspection done. I believed him amd I done the repaire . In 07/23 i had issue with my emergency break same guy name is Brad told me oh I have bad news your car has issue I will do a new emergency break and it's gonna take a lot of work and you have to pay 850 dollars . And I paid this amount my friend checked the receipt he surprised He told that's so expensive you can done this repair only for 400 dollars after we found out he doesn't do a new emergency break we called him again Brad and he said just bring your car . He lied to me and stole my money because I'm female and I don't have knowledge about car repair. Please don't come over here to do car repair it's overpriced and they lie about service I'm very disappointed.

Went there at 4:00pm for safety inspection, guy said we are closed for the day. If your closing time is 5:00pm coming paying customers should get service till 4:59:59.. no questions asked😡

Chase, Jeff, Juan and Brad are all super helpful, honest and fair. If they can, they’ll get you in and out while you wait. From inspections to routine maintenance or repairs, they get it done. They even balanced tires that three other tire places couldn’t get to balance. I use them for everything that isn’t under warranty or regular maintenance.

First time getting service at this location. They were courteous and honest from the initial phone call to keeping their word on my arrival for an appointment. The manager, Brad, was straightforward with a professional attitude and demeanor. My technician was Juan. Very cordial and excellent mechanic. He did not at all have any issue with me watching the vehicle oil change and tire rotation being performed. He made sure the car did not have any hidden issues underneath in terms of leaks, suspension, and brakes. I really like that they had an extra lift to use when its busy. It was not only less expensive than Jiffy Lube but they pretty much do the same level of service plus more. I will certainly be returning here again for my regular services. Thank you!

I brought my car in to be checked out due to my check engine light being on and my car experiencing uneven acceleration. Chase was quick to assist me with dropping my car off, answering my (many) questions, and following up with me once the diagnostics were done and we had an estimate for how much the repairs would cost. He was friendly, attentive, and the shop did a great job fixing my car. I won't bring it anywhere else for service!

I have been with Germantown Shell for a good number of years since I moved to Virginia. They have serviced my past 2 cars and now will be servicing my new car. They are very honest with pricing and working with you. They take care of the customer like they were family in ways like, fully explaining the work that needs to be done, the importance of the work and the reasons for the pricing and time it will take. When they say it will be done in a certain amount of time, it is. They are knowledgable mechanics with all cars and if you need to just drive in for certain issues they will do all they can to take care of you right then. I have been very fortunate to have this kind of care and service a number of times. The people up front are very friendly and helpful as well. They will always get you the mechanic as quickly as possible when you need to have a conversation about your car. For me the mechanic and people who work at Germantown Shell in Fairfax, VA are a great comfort to know I can call and they will be available to help me in all ways pertaining to my car and its needs with honesty and in a friendly manner. I intend to be with this group for a very long time because of the good, safe work and satisfaction I have when i leave with my car all taken care of. Beth

I love this place!! Everyone is so nice and knowledgeable. I don’t know much about cars but they make sure to break down everything into terms that I will understand. They actually care for their customers & the prices are extremely affordable. As a female, it’s tough going to mechanics alone because of the fear that they will try to manipulate me out of my money but these guys have never done this. They are the best!! Would highly recommend!!

I pulled in as my tire was about to be flat. Mechanic Chase greeted me almost immediately asked if I was OK..told him what was happening and the man said give me 10 minutes. He worked me in and patched up my tire! Fast super polite, 10/10.

I've taken my cars here for years. These guys are top-notch professionals and have never upsold me anything, unlike the dealerships. They told me what was wrong, what's needed, the minimum that is needed to keep it safe and running until major things can be fixed if there's a budget issue. Recently took my car in to replace tire sensors for a Prius. Dealership quoted 500 bucks. Shell fixed it for around 250 bucks. Took a Honda Fit here for tire rotation, alignment and tune-up, ran perfect after. These guys are efficient and would call you the next day to let you know what work is needed. I basically just go here for anything car-related. I trust this team. Never had anything but an honest and informative and overall good experience. Many thanks to the whole team!

Vehicle State Safety inspection. very bad service. I called them yesterday asking about the working ours. The said 8 to 5 I arrived at 7:45 AM. only one car was ahead of me in the line. They started at 8:20 taking the cars and by the time they finished it was 8:45 AM. I had to leave because I have a meeting. When I explained that to the technician, he said that the car before me took more time because it is a truck and when I told him that they started at 8:20 he said, that he can serve me if I have the time and told me "Adios". I left and I am not going to even buy gas from this location.

Wow. These guys are so kind and truly the best! I was in a bit of a pinch and needed a few quick fixes done. I was helped by Brad yesterday and Chase today. Both were so helpful and quick to find an immediate solution to the problem! Chase even went out of his way to educate me on a few additional things he saw that I may want to look out for to avoid further problems down the road. I appreciate that these guys were straight forward and didn't give me the runaround. I'll def be back. Thank you!

My 19 year old daughter was in the area for an appointment when her car broke down at 6 AM. She had no idea where she was and pulled in here--boy am I glad she did. Not only did the staff working help her call a taxi to get her to her appointment, they fixed the car and get her back on her way at the end of the day. Chase was great to work with--as we live out of state-- he called us several times to let us know what was wrong and what needed to be done to get her rolling again. We are thankful that of all places for her to be lost and broken down, it was here.
