My friend took their hyundi in for a oil change. After driving back to my house, I looked underneath the car and noticed that there was a hyundi oil filter, hmmm? My friend called Gravois auto repair to ask if the have hyundi brand oil filters, the woman that answered , said "no." So my friend asked t"then why do I still have a hyundi brand oil filter that is installed ? The woman laid the phone down, and came back a few minutes later and said, "we had a few left.". I don't know, but it sounds like they didn't take the old filter off. Moral of the story, take a picture of your old filter or mark it with sharpie. Cars are too expensive and important to have to deal with this behavior.

I was in and out on a Friday night during rush hour. The place was hopping with cheerful staff. They thoroughly accommodated my hearing impairment without any mention. Highly recommend! Terrific staff and service. ✌🏻

I've been here and will go back again and again also will recommend others to go there. They were very quick with calling me to tell me everything that was wrong and what needed to be done. I had my Jeep back the next afternoon. love this place people are very nice, easy to talk to and easy to work with.

We spent almost $12,000 dollars here over the past couple years, including the installation of a remanufactured engine in one of our vehicles. I regret the money and time I have given to this establishment. It has been my experience that Gravois Auto Repair does not value me as a customer and does not seem interested in retaining my business. Trying to communicate with the staff has been an awful experience. Those who answer the phones tend to seem disinterested in customer service and disconnected from what is happening with our vehicles. It is difficult to maintain communication for ongoing projects, such as the engine replacement. Several times during that process, the date for the arrival of the engine was pushed back from the scheduled date, and nobody from the shop called to let us know. When I called to get an update, it was like pulling teeth trying to get someone on the phone who knew what was going on. After only about 6,000 miles, the engine we had installed started leaking oil. I asked the manager if this would be covered by the warranty, she said she wasn't sure and I would have to bring it in. This was not convenient at all since we had moved and were no longer as close to Gravois Auto Repair as before. I took the vehicle to a closer shop to have a look. They found the Crankshaft Oil Seal was the source of the leak. This was an affordable fix, so I had them replace it. While working on that, they discovered the Crankshaft Pulley had issues and a part was cracked. I was told "whoever built this engine was VERY rough with it." This mechanic also took a video of the issue, showing the part and how it was damaged. As it was a safety issue, they went ahead and replaced the part. They gave me the original part, and I can verify that it is cracked. I called Gravois Auto to explain. The engine had been installed the year prior and only had about 6,000 miles on it. I took the manager's email address so I could send the video and documentation of the repair. Several days went by and there was no indication that my email had been received. I called, and the manager told me that since I did not go to them for the repair, it would not be covered. Now I am stuck with an engine of questionable quality, installed by a shop that I do not trust and have continued difficulty communicating with and receiving service from, and find myself in a situation where I have to cover repairs myself even within the warranty window. I will give another example of an experience I had here. One morning, our other vehicle had trouble starting, so we brought it in. I was told that it was the battery, so they replaced it. While the vehicle was in I was told it needed new tires. The mechanic told me that it would take a while to get them, so it wouldn't be ready until later that afternoon. Not long later, I got a call saying my vehicle was ready. I was surprised, because it was still early, so I asked, "The new tires are already on?" The lady on the phone said "yes." I picked up the vehicle, after which they called again and said that they actually had NOT replaced the tires yet, so I had to bring it back. I brought it back in, they replaced the tires, and so I went to pick it up once more. A bit later, once again THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START! This was the original reason we brought it in that morning! I had to arrange a tow on my own. I was told they would get to it "first thing in the morning." The next morning, nobody from the shop had contacted me. I called to check in, and nobody I talked to was even aware of the situation. I got a hold of the manager and explained, and finally was able to speak to another mechanic who told me the starter needed to be replaced. To her credit in this particular situation, the manager did apologize and comped the labor for the starter replacement. However, I still lost two days to this extremely - and unnecessarily - frustrating process. I will not be spending any more money or time with this establishment. The frustration and inadequacy of communication and service are unacceptable.

Tried to charge me $80 for a diagnosis on a sensor. Then wanted another $200 bc their tech was too stupid to locate the problem. Then wanted $500 to fix the sensor. Just a bunch of scammers really. Got it diagnosis and repaired for $150. Bunch of highway robbers.

46 dollar fast accurate oil change no added b.s. unlike up in north st louis they charge upwards of 100 plus for an oil change. That reminds me even down here in Arnold they charge 86 dollars to change oil. Gravois auto....Best place in the city.

I use gravois auto for my oil changes for 10+ years. Never have an issue. This time I had oil on my door handle(exterior and interior), steering wheel and shifter. FYI

This place is great. No appointment necessary. You just park, go in, and tell them what you need. I always wait there because it never takes longer than an hour. My vehicle takes semi synthetic oil in my oil change was under $40. That is half the price of the drive-thru oil change places. The waiting room has a TV and snack machine so that gives you something to do while you're waiting. Definitely recommend for anyone who needs an oil change

I used to get great service at Gravois auto. I didn't mind paying the higher fees because they were fast and got the job done. Now something has changed. I had my car in several times over the past 3 months for the same problem. I kept paying them money and they kept coming up with different excuses and the problem still wasn't fixed. I finally had to take my car to a different mechanic and now it is fixed. I feel like I paid alot of money for nothing. Also left several messages for the owner Dan to call and never heard from him. My suggestion-take your car somewhere else for repairs. It doesn't seem like the mechanics that work there now know what they are doing. Very disappointing.
