Since 1929, Gateway Tire & Service Center has dedicated ourselves to our customers, employees, and communities, and we believe that our hometown, personal approach to customer service, and our fair and honest dealings are the main reasons why our business seems to thrive while others seem to fail. Our goal is to provide the best products and service at a fair price, all while being up-front and honest with each and every customer. We’ll never try to sell something that our customer doesn’t need just to make a buck. If that’s what makes us different from our competitors, well, we’re just fine with that.

I pulled up about 6 minutes before closing on Jan 25th. My back tire was a little flat. The guys told me their closing in 5 minutes. There's a sign that says air pressure checks sign in at sales counter. I did so. Grant there was 6 guys in the garage. The guy at the counter said on the intercom air pressure check between door 1! No one never came. I waited 5 more minutes and called inside to see if someone was going to help. No one did. The guy between the counter came out. He couldn't believe that no one came to help me. Very disappointing!!!! Thanks to the guy between the counter that came out to help me!!!!!

I'm a longtime customer at this location, and I keep coming back because Gateway on Poplar provides outstanding customer service. Mario, CJ and all the staff are so polite, friendly and accommodating, and they resolve my tire issues (of which there are no shortage here, with all the potholes and nails on these streets) in a timely manner and at an affordable price. I can also connect to Wifi and get some work done while I'm waiting. Five stars from a loyal customer!

Well service was great, did the job, didn't rip me off, would have been five stars but you stole my tire air caps. I bought those. I paid for your services. I don't care to get 'em back I'll pay to replace them and didn't even notice until I went to fill up my tires for a trip but it's 100 percent the principle of the thing. If they stole/lost these they will steal/lose something else, so go elsewhere. Don't care if it was worth 5 or 200 dollars stealing is stealing and one of your guys took from me that's disrespectful and shady. Have a wonderful life, guys. You seemed cooler than this, would have loved to come back. No chance now.

I trust Gateway tires for my oil changes, wheel rotation balancing, etc. They are more trusted by me than the GMC dealerships in Shelby County.

If I could leave no stars I would but I want everyone to be aware of the type of business you’re patronizing. This place is awful. I have had to come here 7 times in a 8 month period for the same issue. Every time I come I have to wait at least 5 hours. I did everything they told me to do which totals about 1500 dollars for brakes, which does not include the 500 dollars for new tires. They made my brake light come on so now they are telling me to go somewhere else because they don’t know how to fix the car. The manager Mario told me if I could prove they are the reason the light came on and the car is braking funny then maybe he can do something. Really how can I prove that when I drove away after getting serviced the brake light came on. and the car started sounding like something was dropping when I brake now? Pathetic! It’s really sad that the shade tree mechanics know more than the people who went to school. Mario and Christen are both unfit to manage themselves and most definitely a store. I literally witness them making jokes and giving eye contact and laughing at different customers. Complaining about a customer who called the phone.Very unprofessional. Don’t waste your time, RUN from this place.

One star service for me , I did not receive great service, from this company I came in to get service was not sure what was going on with my car after explaining to the worker what might be wrong he processed to keep asking me the same question over and over, as he should have pull my information up in the system as I was a returning customer ,after leaving my keys employee thought I had exit the building and proceeded to mark me and talk freely about how i explained my car issue in a negative matter, he processed to do it again to another employer I then asked him what is the problem will they know how to fix it , they provided me with corporate number which was half way helpful so for this reason along with lack of respect for me as a customer i will not be returning.

This is my go to place for any tire issues. Great service, great employees. I found them to be honest as well. Yesterday I discovered that I could get my windshield wipers replaced there as well. The only downside is lots of other people love them as well and the wait time can be lengthy, but, I guess, that's the price you have to pay for great service. Big thanks to Stevie who works there and was extremely helpful

AND the reason why I'm giving two stars is NOT because of management....IT'S because of the technicians and service counselors! LAST YEAR in 2023, I paid for an oil change, which never happened. Luckily, I know how to check my oil. Of course, I brought it to management's attention, &(Mario)...made it right!! Upon this year on 8/13/24, I asked Alfred to start a service ticket for: oil change and tire rotation, along with checking the passenger rear tire. Well... Everything was complete except tire rotation. I expressed to Christian that I was dissatisfied... Christian then says, "I don't have anything to do with that AND I can't speak for or against Alfred." WHAT DOES THAT have to do with you being willing to accommodate my dissatisfaction with customer service. Let's not forget, the service techs ramshacked the back of my vehicle looking for a tire key...no regard to placing things back like I had them. AND MY driver seatbelt is damaged. Of course, I have no way of proving when I left my car in their care. Needless to say, the only reason why I return back to this location this year is because of MARIO....!

Manager (Mario IIRC) replaced my tire himself since the patch didn't hold - to be fair we had to use "fix a flat" (before we could get it to Gateway) because we had urgent child pickup & couldn't wait for a tow & our stupid car doesn't have a spare - so yeah - fix a flat turns the inside of a tire into a diaper fire and probably doesn't help with tire patching. This is the first time I've had their patch not hold. Mario knew I had a business trip that I was already behind schedule on and he went the extra mile!

Had a line to the door when they 1st opened this Fri morning. 3 behind the counter handled business. Once I made it to the desk, they girl was very professional and knowledgeable. My truck was ready by end of business, just as I was told. Thank you

I came by on Friday to ask about getting 3 new tires. They don't have any affordable ones in store, but offer to order me some that will be ready Saturday morning. Said they would call me at 7:30am to let me know if they were in. No call. I call a little later, not in yet, but if you come down we can get your car ready and out faster because they'll be here soon. I do come early to get out faster. 3 HOURS later with no updates the whole time I'm sitting waiting and finally they're done. Not so much as a "sorry for the wait" as I leave. 3 hours to put two tires on my car. You decide if that kind of speed is worth it.

I live in the residential neighborhood behind this location and am forced to deal with their employees speeding excessively back and forth using our quiet streets instead of Poplar as their personal test track daily. Seeing firsthand the way these employees recklessly handle customers’ cars, I would never trust my vehicle with these people! Edit: issue has not been addressed whatsoever. Same worst offenders still at it. Please fix before someone gets killed.

Second time I have come here within a year due to those pesky nails around Memphis that my car seems to love to hit, and once again, it's been a lovely experience. Stevie helped me last time and she is without a doubt one of the nicest most genuine people I have ever met. She's great to talk to and helped the time sitting in the main area go by so fast, which by the way wasn't a long time at all because they got my car in and out very quickly. I highly recommend you take your car here if you're having tire problems like I always seem to. Thank you Stevie and Alfred for your kindness and help today, definitely go see them. You will not be disappointed with your time here!!

These folks are wonderful. I never worry about anything going wrong with my tires when I’m in my city because I know these guys are going to take good care of me. I had a minor issue with my last visit that was probably just as much my fault as it was theirs. My windows are old and unreliable so I never use them. Never even think about them. One of the mechanics rolled my driver side down and it got stuck. I failed to mention it beforehand because my brain no longer even considers the fact that my windows could even potentially roll down, lol. They did everything and I mean everything they could to try to fix it before I left the premises. Then Stevie (who is a gem and should be making six figures up there) called me back about an hour after I left with a MORE THAN REASONABLE quote to fix it permanently so I wouldn’t even have to worry about it anymore. They actually lost money on this deal. Quite a bit of money. Just because they knew I needed help. I hope the mechanics don’t hate me. I would hate me if I were them. I’m ashamed to go back actually. lol. But they couldn’t have been nicer. Stevie was so sweet. Two men I dealt with at the front desk were SO nice and seemed genuinely stoked about taking care of me and every other person I saw them talk to. The mechanics were very patient and gentle with my dumb self. … I’ve been very sick for a long time and almost had a breakdown in their parking lot but didn’t because they were so nice and didn’t even blame me even though they could have. I could tell Stevie was kind of like “BRUH ITS TOO HOT FOR THIS WHY DIDNT YOU TELL US YOUR CAR IS SO JANKY?” and I don’t blame her. I’m a ridiculous human. Thanks guys. Thank you all.

This was my first time at this Gateway location and it was such a good experience. Having spent years going to another location, I didn’t have the best experience at the other location. From the time I walked in to Gateway at 3197 Poplar, each associate was not only friendly but also genuinely kind. As a female, it is hard sometimes to navigate car/auto repair places but the manager, assistant manager, and associate at the front desk were helpful the whole time. They patiently answered my questions and assured me they would get my car taken care of. (Even assured me they would take care of the things the other location did not properly due just a few days prior). Picking up my car today and thankful and appreciative of the team at this location. Will definitely be my new go to place!
