I brought my wife's car in to have new remotes programmed, and Mike noticed I had my winter tires in the back. He offered to have them swapped, which saved me the trip to another shop. He also offered to get me to and from work so I wasn't waiting there until the shop was done with the car, very nice touch! During their inspection, they found two other things that I would not have been aware of until the parts had failed, and were able to work on and replace them the same day. I will definitely be returning here, and will refer others as well.

My car started to make a noise when the gears shifted before a trip and I worried about transmission problems which would be very expensive. Five Star found a rusted and broken clamp that was causing the problem. They got me in the same day and were honest about the problem. Highly recommended!

Had to have my car towed here on Thursday when my starter went. Have been working with Nico the whole time and he is extremely pleasant! He was very prompt to call me back with what the problem with and offer many solutions. They also work with a local non profit that helps give cars to families in need. Will definitely be giving them more business as my cars need it. Thank you Nico and 5 star auto!

They seemed to be a little expensive on labor but the techs were nice and communicative to me and my partner and they got the job done in a timely manner.

My 2015 Jeep Cherokee drives like a brand new car. The business name really does speak for it's self. Everything they've done to improve my cars performance has paid off with quality fair pricing. The staff are very friendly, knowledgeable and work super efficiently. If you need a loaner vehicle they got one, which is a huge win when you need one. The wait time to get the job done right for your vehicle is never too long.

We were passing through town on vacation with a cylinder misfire code. They got us in, did some tests, got us fixed up and on our way in just a few hours. Really appreciate the work they did for us!

I cannot say enough good things about Five Star Automotive. We were supposed to travel back home to Virginia but my truck would not start. Mike got it in that day and Matt diagnosed the problem quickly. Had to wait a few days for a fuel pump to come in (4th of July got in the way of delivery), but once it arrived, they had it installed quite quickly. The communication, compassion, and professionalism of everyone at Five Star Automotive was simply astounding. Truly apprecaite them helping us turn lemons into lemonade! Thank you!

I had an amazing experience at 5 star. The guys really saved me that day. My brakes literally failed a block away from them. It was even better when they looked into my vehicle's warranty and found that they were still covered. They did a great job on the brakes as well. I would highly recommend

Highly recommend. I needed to bring my rig in last minute to get the ac fixed before I went on a road trip. I called lots of places in Duluth and they were the only place that took me in last minute. It was on a Thursday afternoon and they called me not even two hours after I brought it in with a diagnosis of exactly what was wrong. They got the parts ordered and worked everything out with my warranty and had it over the weekend and made sure to have it done by Monday morning. The two employees I interacted were very polite and friendly. Five star automotive is very easy to work with and I am very impressed. They have very good communication and keep you updated with each step!

I brought my truck in to get my tail light fixed because the running light was out and they stated my wire harness was bad and charge me for a new one. And they replaced a single light socket on it.

My car’s check engine light started flashing the other night. I reached out to Five Star Automotive right away and they shared I could drop my car off first thing in the morning. I ended up needing to get my car towed, and towed it there the next morning. Right from the start, the service was amazing. They gave me a loaner car to use, which was a huge blessing as I had to get to work. That afternoon Mike, the shop manager, gave me a call to update me on the diagnosis they found. Then the next day (today), I get a call that the repair is completed on my car and done much faster than the original estimate. The mechanic’s definitely know their stuff! I drive an Audi and was a little worried as I understand they can be difficult cars to work on, but they did it in such a timely manner. The car drives great now and the check engine light is off, which it never has been since I’ve driven the car! In the end, it was all around great service and a GREAT experience! They were extremely transparent in explaining everything to me, completed the work in a timely manner, and did so with a fair price! I’d recommend them to anyone I know in the Northland that needs help with their car.

Exploring the north shore during spring break, the car started sounding like a train. Reluctant to drive back to Minneapolis without having it check out, I drove into 5 star and was happy to have problem assessed and repaired everything within 3 hours.

Awesome people! Received excellent service getting both of my family's cars back into shape this last week. I so appreciated how they explained everything to me with my car's power window issues, without "man-splaining" or talking down to me as a woman. Will use them again in the future!

I have an old car, nearly 20yrs old. So things are wrong with it. As with any old car, it just needs to work for another couple years. I needed an oil change. And my check engine light turned on and off. I had heard good things about 5 star so I decided to try them out. Booking through the website was smooth, quick and easy. I dropped my car off bright and early and they had looked at and figured out what was wrong before noon! My appointment wasn't till 3pm mind you. So my car needed some work in addition to the oil change. 4 things. I decided to do 2 things (both because of $ and practicality- how much $ do you put into a 20 yr old car right?) They said ok and that was it. No slaes pressure. No telling me I really should do it all. They had to get a part so I'd be able to pick my car up the next day. Great communication, fabulous people, would highly recommend to anyone, but especially another woman. And best part, they have free loaner vehicles!

I have had to bring my car in twice over the last 8 weeks due to the lovely Duluth roads. Both times I was able to get right in, repairs were done quickly, they worked directly with my extended warranty company, and charged a fair price. Best of all they stayed in regular contact with me along the way, because of that I was never left with the anxiety of what all was wrong, how long it would take, or the cost. I now know why this place is called Five Star Automotive, it definitely is a 5 Star business. I’m from Florida and needed work done on my Jeep. I was only going to be in Duluth for a couple of days so I needed an immediate appointment. I Googled several businesses in the area, called them and left messages, none of them returned my call. When I called Five Star Automotive, Cisco answered the phone, was very friendly and professional, and told me to bring in my Jeep the next day and they would fit me in. When I arrived, Mike was also very friendly and recommended a place down the street to have breakfast. Mike also went above and beyond to answer my questions about the area. I was also impressed that Cisco identified himself as having spoke to me the day before and shook my hand. My Jeep was finished in a very timely manner and the price was reasonable. I would highly recommend this company and would like to once again say thank you to Cisco and Mike for providing me with the best automobile repair experience that I have ever had!

Mike at 5 Star on 4th St in Duluth was amazing! We were here from out of town, and had a beeping inverter in our old RV. He stopped everything while he was off the clock, to help us. He was knowledgeable, kind, and friendly. Thanks Mike!!!

My car did not start yesterday, got a jump and the tester showed a weak battery. I had never been to 5 Star Automotive in Duluth before, but called and they said to drive it down and they could probably have it done the next day, if the problem is just the battery. The owner and staff in the office area were great people to deal with, they installed the new battery the next day as promised, at a MORE THAN FAIR PRICE and I picked the car up mid morning. I will definitely support their repair business in the future ---and I want to add---they had a very clean office area to do business in. I recommend them!

Really had a great experience. Squeaking breaks were driving me nuts (and probably those I was driving next to on the road). I had an appointment for another national chain service shop...but, on a Friday morning before that appointment I gave them a call. They were able to get my car in the shop, diagnose a couple of different problems and tell me that my brakes still had a bunch of life left and that the squeak should figure itself out. So not only did I get some preventative services done at like 70% of the cost of the place I was going to bring the car too but I also saved a bunch of money by not having to replace my breaks. And they were right, the brakes are sounding better already. Cisco and the crew there did an excellent job. Will absolutely be back. Thanks!

Recently had all new tires put on my rig for winter at 5 star automotive. Jason and his team are not only top notch in what they do, but also how they do it. His team (I'm looking at you Cisco!) made sure that I was aware of progress during the process, answered all of my questions, and made everything as seamless as possible. Would absolutely recommend to anyone looking to support local business that takes care of you from start to finish.

While driving home to the Twin Cities from the North Shore, my dash illuminated with three warning lights. I called a friend in Duluth and she recommended her "awesome mechanic" and called ahead for me. I made it to the shop and from the time I arrived to the shop I picked up my car, I felt like I was in capable, good and safe hands. Mike could not have taken better care of me. He clearly explained my options and gave suggestions when I asked. If you live in Duluth or, like me, experience car troubles while you're visiting, Five Star Automotive is a place you can trust! I so grateful I did!!
