Horrible Experience – Scam Alert! My girlfriend had a terrible experience at Discount Tire. She recently got a new car, and after hitting a curb, her tire popped. It was close to 6 pm, almost closing time (for this discount tire location), and she was near the shop, so she decided to stop in for help. The staff claimed they could only sell her two tires because the other front tire supposedly had “low tread.” There was no option offered to her, and they insisted she had to buy 2 new tires or they wouldn’t help, and they were closing soon so she didn't have a choice. Here’s the problem: her car had only 16,000 miles on it, and the tire in question had plenty of tread left. I’ve worked as an emergency vehicle technician for years and can tell you that the tires were perfectly fine. They clearly took advantage of her not knowing much about cars, pressured her into buying an extra tire that wasn’t needed, and didn’t give her a choice in the matter. It was an outright scam. The following day, I called the store, explained the situation, and requested our original tire back since it wasn’t actually damaged and was perfectly fine. The manager said they “dispose of tires at the end of everyday,” but he promised to find a similar tire to replace our new (not needed tire) with and get back to me within the week, but here we are, three weeks later, and I’ve heard nothing. I even offered to install the tire myself to prevent them from losing labor cost, but they declined. It’s clear they’re willing to take advantage of people who don’t know enough about cars. Do NOT trust this shop, especially if you’re not familiar with car maintenance. They’ll scam you if they can. Terrible service, dishonest practices, and a lack of follow-up. Stay away! Shops like this are the reason that the car industry has a bad reputation.

I’m disappointed with my recent experience at Discount Tire on November 9th. I arrived at 3:15 p.m. for a flat tire repair and didn’t leave until 5:25 p.m., even though several customers who came in after me left in under an hour without appointments. For example, a couple arrived around 4:10, requested a quote for new tires, and the advisor convinced them to buy. They were done by 4:50. It was clear that sales took priority over other services. Additionally, after I left, I noticed that all four of my tires had different pressures. Finally, my car was parked at the far end of an empty parking lot, with no reason to leave it that far from the entrance. The person who assisted me was named Phillip. Overall, I expected better organization and customer care.

Amazing service for tire change. Highly recommend using online to shop around and purchase your tires. You can enter your car and all the available tires show up. Declined insurance and received 5% discount for military. Thank you for quick service. Only downside is they didn't have the tool for my tire locks so I purchased my own socket for it for them to use. Didn't bother me because I should have that fitting anyways in case I ever get a flat.

Great for tires, terrible for TPMS. In August I had 5 new tires and 5 Dill 7007HP TPMS sensors installed in my 06 Tundra. I brought the truck back in September with a flashing TPMS light. The service advisor came out and scanned all 4 tires and said he couldn’t scan the spare (he just didn’t want to crawl under the truck) and he gave me a quote to replace the spare sensor because he assumed it must be bad. I again told him I bought these sensors from them 4 weeks prior and he now decides he can scan the spare sensor and do an ECU reprogram. As he’s scanning the tires he tries to sell me windshield wipers. Thoughtful! Before I leave he tells me if the TPMS light comes on again, I need to take it to the dealer because I may have a faulty TPMS system (very unlikely according to Dill technical support) A few weeks later the light comes on again. This time I do a ton of searching online and learn more about Toyota TPMS than I ever cared to know. I buy a cheap Autel programmer for $180, that was a waste of money. Live and learn. At this point I call Dill technical support and they are very helpful and show me the relearn procedure instructions posted on their website. Toyota’s require an ECU reset and I believe the techs were skipping this step or using an incompatible scan tool. Before I end the conversation the rep expresses his frustration that I’m the one calling, “they should be the ones calling us” On my third visit I go to the Mission Gorge location and I bring a printout of Dills relearn instructions. The tech doesn’t seem interested in reading it. Thankfully one of the regional managers (incredibly helpful) overhears our conversation and tells the tech to get the “big scanner”. This time it works and my truck finally has a functioning TPWS. If you sell a product you should stand by it. It’s not fair to throw 5 new sensors in a vehicle and then ship the customer to the dealer because we all know the dealer won’t troubleshoot aftermarket sensors. And don’t try and sell me wipers on a comeback.

Worst discount tire location ever! I came in at 10 am and the gentleman informed me that the car would be ready in 1 h and 30 min as 7 customers were ahead. Came back at 12 pm and my car was still outside and I was surprised to see new cars and new customers getting served before me. Very frustrating especially since I missed an important appointment.

[UPDATE - See original below] Discount Tire responded to my review and they offered a solution. Their customer service team is really good and efficient. At the store, they also handled the situation very well. I upgraded my review because of how good the experience was after the incident. I've never had a bad experience with any Discount Tire before (tried in three different states) and I can't believe the poor level of customer service and honesty of this place. I bought four tires here and when they were removing the old ones, they found that the wheel lock was not compatible with the key I brought on that day. I agreed with them breaking the locks and paid $60 in addition for this service. To this point, nothing is wrong. However, when they broke the locks, they never told me that there was a risk involved in the process. One of the studs ended inside the wheel rotor and they didn't say anything! When I came back with new locks so they could put them, the same technician that changed my tires noticed a missing stud and pointed out that it was "probably inside the wheel"; it surely was. I asked if they'd respond for this because it was a mistake during their work and he sent me across the street. The business across the street said they'd charge around $200 to fix it. I came back to Discount Tire and a salesman (different from the one I bought from) treated me like this was all my fault. I explained how I wasn't informed of the risk nor that this happened during the change, and he just told me I should've known and assumed the cost of the fixing. Eventually, after insistent arguing, he agreed that Discount Tire would pay half of the work, which ended up being $288 and I paid $144. This was completely unfair considering how dishonest the technician was. The salesman wasn't interested in caring for me as a client, he just wanted to protect his business. Overall, a very poor experience in communication and customer service. Enough said I won't come back here for rotations.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! Recently took my car in to get new tires. Lost 2 lug nuts, on the same tire. Recieved no phone call informing me that there would be an issue taking them off. A little while after driving the new tire had a flat. LIKE WHAT!!!

Hello, my name is Maxwell Macedo. Recently, I purchased four tires at Discount Tire in Point Loma on Midway Drive – three new tires from them and one I brought on my own. They sold me four warranties, including for the tire I brought in. However, I am extremely dissatisfied with their service and do not recommend this place to anyone. My car has a system that indicates when tire rotation is needed, and I followed this indication. When I brought the car in for the rotation, I was informed by Carl that I should have brought the car in every five thousand miles, which was never communicated to me before. Moreover, the paper they showed me indicated six to eight thousand miles, not five. Even so, they refused to perform the tire rotation, claiming the front two tires were extremely worn out and charged me $381 to replace them. These tires were replaced on January 22, 2024, and have only six months of use. The tires I purchased were top-of-the-line Continental tires. Discount Tire's advertising promises a complete warranty, but this was not honored. They said the warranty only covers factory defects or bubbles, which I find misleading. To make matters worse, my car has the tire pressure light on, indicating the need for air in the tires. I was told I would have to wait in a line of cars to get this service, showing the lack of adequate support. My experience with Discount Tire in Point Loma was terrible. They are excellent at selling, but their post-sale support is non-existent. I do not recommend this place at all. Avoid this place and do not be fooled by their warranty promises. Rating: 0.0

These guys are the best!! If you buy tires here, you can get tire related issues fixed for free. I bought 2 tires in Yuma. Drywall screw removed and tire fixed in El Centro, low air issue addressed in Mission Hills, San Diego. Good, reliable folks.

They were able to get me in same day of for a set of performance tires that no one else in town had. Luis was awesome and got me taken care of quickly. Used to be a Costco loyalist but I’m going to be coming here from now on out.
