Poor customer service and follow-up. I have waited to wright this review in hopes that my response to the internal customer satisfaction survey would spur some sort of action; however, to date still nothing regarding my issues with their service or lack of attention to detail. The following is a synopsis of the issues, so approach your interaction with them carefully. I was referred to Cummings in Boise, to repair my 1999 Newmar Dutch Star’s propane generator. I called and made an appointment for 7/19/23 at 9:30 am. During the initial contact Lisa advised there would be a minimum charge of 2 hours @ $188 per hour to evaluate the problem and provide an estimate. I had driven two hours with an expectation of having an estimate the same day. During the day I called to check status several times but was told they hadn't gotten to it. Around 4:30 pm I decided to make the two hour drive home without any information on when the estimate would be available. It took basically two days to get the estimate and was provided via email in the afternoon on 7/20/23 without any notification and I did not see it until approximately 4:00 pm. At this time I immediately responded with a couple of questions, as was indicated per the estimate. I did not hear anything for a couple of days and called to leave a message for the supervisor Casey Wees whom had sent the email. There was no indication that he was out of the office. On 7/26/23 I called again since not having any response and learned that Casey was out of the office until 7/27/23. I was helped by one of Casey’s coworkers who researched with the technician and told me virtually the same as the estimate that they were suggesting a level 3 maintenance since they had not been able to identify any specific issues and it was the only place to start. I advised them to put it back together and I’d bring it home and decide later what to do as the estimate to do the level 3 maintenance with no confidence it would fix the issues seemed too high. After returning home I was able to find a local technician with over 35 years of experience who would look at it for me. Within 15 minutes he had narrowed the issue down to the regulator, and suggested rebuilding it or replacing to take care of it. While making sure it was the right response he found that there was no power feeding from the generator to the motor coach and began investigating possible causes. First step was to review breakers and found them all in good working order. Then went to the shore power terminal and found the generator power leads were all disconnected and dangerously just left open, see picture below. He reconnected the leads based on the wiring diagram and returned power to the coach. This could have been extremely dangerous as there was 240 volts of live current exposed that could have caused a fire or worse yet hurt or killed someone. Not only did they provide unsatisfactory customer service, they virtually put my coach and family at risk. Choose wisely if considering Cummins for your repair needs.

Stopped by the Rocky Mountain Cummins location in Boise to ask a few questions about an Onan generator in a diesel pusher coach and to see if I could schedule an appointment to have it worked on. There was nobody at the front counter so I asked a person at the parts counter if I could speak with someone. He told me that there was no one I could talk to and directed me to the online appointment scheduler. Seemed super disinterested and did nothing to help me other than to direct me to their website. This was after attempting to contact someone on the telephone multiple times. No answer and no calls back so I stopped by there in person and didn't get much better results. They don't seem at all interested in my business. Worst customer service I have ever experienced.

Whew. A pump went out that was not Cummins related. They sourced the replacement and I think the price for it was fair. The diagnostic was eventually adjusted since I had pictures for them of the problem. The labor also was adjusted. My rating is more about communication and labor hours transparency. I still feel like I overpaid a bit. This price probably would be good if I were stranded. The manufacturer said 3 hours labor. I gave them 6 in my mind. I was quoted 14 and finally charged for 11. If a copy of the timecard with details was attached to the bill, It could have made me feel different. They did basically everything else right.

Great service .

When your the only customer in the store and the store manager makes you stop and take your temperature Ill buy my part somewhere else.

Called ,about getting my Onan checked. Matt got me in . Did best to keep me informed. Sadly lack of parts kept shop from doing complete job. Working with short staff due to covid 19, seen them working the morning customers in as the needed techs became available. So no air conditioned lounge, fresh coffee. Not true power tech shop. And it hurts to pay for incomplete job. Not the shops fault, or covid's . Lack of parts in supply, can blame some on covid, but no one what will wear out or fail. Overall thought was good experience

I thought 500.00 was excessive for sensor with a 5mm bolt. 100.00 was for shop equipment. They were great a lot getting to me in a holiday weekend. Friendly service.

We brought our RV here for it's 40,000 miles service and the people here at Cummins in Boise could not have been better !!! From Steve who was our point of contact for all of the work and advised us on certain critical decisions, to the Technicians who performed the work ( and even updated our diesel engine's software ! ), they all took great care of US and our RV !!!! We were allowed to come in the night before and plug in at one of their two RV Sites in the parking lot. That made the next morning very much more relaxed, as we didn't have to do more than unplug, hand over our keys and then grab our two dogs and head out for breakfast. Fast, accurate work and fair prices - I cannot ask for more !!! We will be BACK !!!!

Brought one of our trucks in after Having a engine installed by another mechanic In Washington State who left out a oil galley plug . The mechanic that install the engine told us he accidentally left out the plug We advised the service writer what plug was missing and where it was. The mechanic refused to listen to where the plug was .. After they ran our bill up to Over $6000 for an 89 cent plug. and kept my truck for a month they finally said oh yes It was the galley plugs that was missing . They charged me for all their diagnostic times looking For the leak everywhere that it was not.. I paid the bill, the oil leak was fixed. Less than 200 miles after their Removal of the transmission to fix the .89 cent Galley plug 5 of the bell housing bolts fell out.when the trany started shaking violently we had a mobile mechanic come and look at it. the cooler lines were leaking, the Turbo mount was hanging by one bolt never re installed and 5 of the bell housing bolts were missing.I asked them if they would repair it while we waited they refused. we would have to leave it for four or five days The truck had a $5000 load which needed to be delivered And would not have driven another 10 miles without destroying the transmission We took it to another repair shop. In 2 hours they replaced the 5 missing bolts Fix the Turbo mount that was left undone And tightened The leaking transmission cooler lines. I still had to pay $4200 to another trucking company to have the load delivered. You better be a good mechanic and know what needs to be done if you let them work on your Truck. I would suggest you find a Competent high school student that will definitely do a better job and not hold your truck hostage for over a month

Expensive parts

Feb 07, 2020

I should have looked at the negative reviews because they are right on. The sales manager is horrible and their bunch of crooks misdiagnosed my truck and didn't make it more than 200 miles in the same thing after a $2,000 repair

Service doesn’t answer the phone goes an answering machine and they don’t seem to be able to call you back

Feb 07, 2020

Terrible, They struggled even with a Cummins part on a fan belt. Said it would be 3 days to "air" freight a fan belt in from Chicago.

Feb 07, 2020

The best

These guys are awesome! Matt in Boise was extremely helpful and resolved our issue quickly and without hassle. The service was outstanding and makes me want to go out of my way to purchase Cummins products in the future. Great job Cummins!

Awsome place great service

Feb 07, 2019

I spoke with Steve in the Service Department today and he was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, polite, patient, and thorough. We have an older RV generator that is not repaired or maintained by any other shop in the area, and Steve was completely aware of that fact and explanatory as to what that might mean for us in terms of service, quotes, repairs, and pricing. I called 10 other places before landing on Cummins, and was accidently given misinformation, extending my search. However, once getting in touch with Steve, he was confident and efficient in giving me the most apt information, without issue or pause. According to what we've read on the Cummins website and Google, we are sure that our experience while at Cummins will go above and beyond in comparison to many other repair shops and look forward to working with them.
