My son needed new tires during his winter break from college. With my busy work schedule and his we had only one day to try to get his car in for this service somewhere local to us. I called many other places and they were booked up into the next week. At a friend's recommendation I called Consumer Tire in Mentor and talked to Chris. He was very helpful and kind and we discussed several different tire options that were economical to us. He verified the tires were in stock and told us to come in for service an hour from our phone discussion. Everything went smoothly and we really appreciated Chris's customer service to us!

When in mentor, I had an issue with my car,and there was Consumer Tire. Long story short, I was in and out in under an hour and saved big time. I'm the hubber that brings the rubber.

I wanted to leave a review for an honest shop. Lived in Mentor my whole life and my father used to go to Consumer all the time. I went in for 4 tires and my dealership also told me I needed brakes. I actually set ut in motion to just do the brakes but they called me to tell me I didn't need them and I had good pad amounts left, and checked to make sure I didn't have any braking issues. It was a breath of fresh air, in this economy to have the term 'honest mechanic' really mean something. I appreciate Chris as he has been great this whole time as well and great with their communication. I would recommend you give these honest guys a chance to work on your car and know I will be back for the full brake repairs when needed. Thanks Consumer in Mentor!!

I’ve been a customer for well over a decade and have spent thousands here. They aren’t the greatest prices, but seemed like they did good work. About 2-3 months ago, I took my truck in for some issues. The estimate was going to be upwards of 2-3 grand, but some parts were backordered. They assured me they would follow up and call me back when parts were in stock. After about a month, I started making regular calls. The lady assured me she would check into it and call me back. I called no less than 10 times and each time she promised she would call me back and never did. I call a last time yesterday. She apologized and PROMISED she would call me back today. Ope, look. It’s today and I got zero calls. This review is just my first step in letting everyone know not to go here. Loyalty means nothing. Service means nothing. They will not get one penny from my family again. Oh, and my truck is still dangerous to drive and now I have to start the process all over again.

UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP. A family member of mine worked for consumer tire prior to the ownership change and for a bit afterwards. What once was a family owned shop who cared about their customers and employees, is now a money hungry business and will snake you out of ever penny and dollar. 99% of the original employees are no longer there. Dont let back yard mechanics work on your vehicle. WELCOME to corporate America!

Tried to scam me and charge me for services they did not do. Tried to feed me a line of crap saying I need over $1,000 plus worth the suspension work and they refused to do work on new tires that has nothing to do with the suspension work. Then they tried to say I had parts there that did not exist and were in such a hurry my truck rolled out of the shop with lugs loose. Here to find out one of the people that worked on my vehicle I recognized from another shop I had a patch done on a tire last year. Not only did the same guy say he did an alignment that was never done and was charged for it, but he pressurized my tires to 55psi cold on a tire that had a max pressure of 44 psi. Stay far away from the mentor store. They are going to get people seriously hurt. I can’t speak for the chardon store. To much complacency and mistakes to risk my safety or someone else’s safety and or damage to my vehicle. Stay far away….. Here I am a month later. Here are details I did not mention in my earlier review. The tire balances are so far out it’s insane. The old guy that worked on my truck said the suspension all needed replaced. That’s hogwash. He said if I didn’t replace all the suspension I was gonna vibrate and burn the tires off my truck. Well if the tire balances are as far out as they were you better bet I am gonna burn the tires off my truck. I’m seriously under the impression the mechanic at consumer is clueless. Not to mention worn rear shocks do not effect an alignment. This place is nothing but a scam to try and get you to spend more money by sabotaging vehicles to wear and fail quicker. Also a good warning sign that a shop is desperate for work is when a shop can get your vehicle in on the same day and throws 2-3 mechanics on it at the same time. That means they are hurting for business. Hurting for business means they are terrible. Go to NTB or Firestone down the street. Yes you may pay a few more bucks but the quality is there. Consumer ain’t worth the risk, the headaches or the dramatic games.

Stay clear of this place, they will nickel and dime you to death. First I over paid for a set of tires, then they said I needed an alignment on my 2 year old car. The post alignment report looked worse then the original. When asked why they did it, they said because of the Ohio weather this will make it easier for future work, $100 dollars for nothing. After the dealer rotated the tires we noticed a vibration. Took the car to check the tire balance. They charged $35 dollars for a test drive and said nothing was wrong. I decided to keep my money local instead of using Discount Tire like I normally do. Never again.

Great business with reasonable price along with exceptional attention to detail. A huge shoutout to Wayne for his tolerance with my husband who was just being a cranky customer! (To say the least) In this day of front line associates being accused of bad customer service, this gentleman held his head high and gave the best service ever. I applaud you kind sir! I first went to Consumer Tire when my battery died on a Friday at 5:00 pm, and they close at 5:30. They got me in and swapped out my battery quickly and gave me a good price on the battery. For my next interaction they provided several services for my wife's car including new tires and brakes for a reasonable price and some perks that give you money back on your next service. Lastly they gave me a great price on my car’s brakes and rotors and I was able to use a courtesy car to do the things I needed to get done that day while they fixed my car. I will definitely go back.

I had previously used them to purchase tires. My husband did the research and said that they offered a fair price on a good quality tire. Today, I had a flat tire and showed up without an appointment. They were able to accommodate me pretty quickly with not much wait time. While waiting, they had a comfortable waiting area where I could do some paperwork and make some calls. I will be returning next time I need new tires.

Said their tire machine was broken, then said their low profile specialist was on vacation. Then they charge me 50 dollars per wheel because I bought my tires off tirerack. They must have city contracts because these prices are highway robbery.

They said they would align my car when I called ahead, then proceeded to say they could not align it when I arrived. THEN CHARGED ME $50 FOR A CHECKOUT FEE? AVOID THIS SHOP AT ALL COSTS!!!

Gave this place five stars 3 years ago, not sure why. If I recall I was leaving for a trip and they took me in at the last minute to fix my tires that they said were put on in the wrong order? Have since gone back for tires. Ended up getting talked into brakes, windshield, wiper blades, etc. So much upselling.

I got a flat this morning right before hopping onto 271. Instantly started calling around and Consumer was the only place that could get me in. VERY FRIENDLY PROFESSIONAL AND TIMELY. Will definitely switch to them for tires from now on.

I would highly recommend Consumer Tire. I bought tires there and have had brakes replaced by them. I always feel that Jessica and Wayne are helpful and honest. I was in today to have my tires rotated. I mentioned a few things to Wayne that were going on with my car. He listened and took care of everything. Very reasonable! I know that if I had gone to the dealership, I would have spent hundreds. Wayne even walked out with me and showed me how I could take care of one of the issues on my own if I so desire in the future. I will definitely continue to take my car to Consumer Tire. I'm confident that they do honest, good work.

Requested an alignment. I've had some misfortune with my car. 5 alignments shops since beginning of year. Out of everyone that did the procedure, consumer tire took the time to dial in every adjustment to near perfect according to spec sheet. I have confidence in the work they put out. Outstanding job!!

Stopped in to get a tire patched but unfortunately they were booked solid for the day. Thought I was going to have to wait and make an appointment for another day when one of the owners (that was actually on vacation) stepped out of an office and said he'd do it. This is going above and beyond what I would call great customer service. Would you patch a tire if you were on vacation? I wouldn't 😆 Highly recommend

The location in Chardon always took care of me so when I needed a new tire on the fly, I called the Mentor location. They squeezed me in on a packed Saturday, got me out in under an hour, and took very good care of me. They have certainly lived up to my expectations. Thanks again, Guys!

They did an alignment and killed the battery on my vehicle, said this happens more than you think. If they are going to kill your battery they should put your vehicle on a battery charge or maintainer. It makes you feel like they do this to sell batteries

Very satisfied! I had a bad tire and another company wasn't able to fix it and need to purchase a new replacement But Consumer tire was able to repair it! That saved me a lot of money!

Very honest and reliable ! The employees there are amazing and we’re so sweet to my son who had to sit there and wait for the car to be done ! Will definitely recommend to anyone who needs a tire place to go to !
