I’m just over the top excited about my “New “ 1966 Mustang, I purchased the vehicle after waiting for forty years to get it. I wanted to add a laundry list of accessories and options, but I’m unable to do the work myself. I really wanted someone who I could trust to help me with this project,so I reached out to my friend David McKeithen. Who has done work on my vehicles for decades, and now works with Todd at Compton Automotive. Although the shop normally doesn’t do the type of work that I needed done,Todd agreed to take the job and have David do the work. I couldn’t be happier with the finished project,especially with the quality of the job. I spent forty years in the industry,so I’m familiar with a job well done, and a job that’s way over the top and exceeds expectations. David’s work has always impressed me,this time it was absolutely mind blowing !! I would like to thank Todd again for taking the job in,so I could have David do the impeccable job that he did. Several problems to numerous to list including missing personal property arguments with owner concerning unauthorized work and why his prices are HIGHER THAN FIRESTONE!! Worst warranty possible and refusal to honor part manufacturer warranty. Don't use them.

I had the pleasure of having my car serviced at Compton’s Automotive last week and I’m so glad I did. My car kept stalling and they were able to get me in quickly and diagnose the issue. I was provided a loaner car to make sure I was able to and from work while my car was being working on. Stacie was wonderful and kept me up to date each day and I truly appreciated that! I would definitely come back!

About a year ago, I started to have our vehicle serviced at Compton’s. Our prior service owner retired. We now have used this business two times. Each time we have found honest and reliable staff. They acknowledge what is wrong and fully explain any problems in detail. I fully recommend this business to all who are searching for a great automotive service experience.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE This shop encourages shady practices by mechanics. My Hyundai sputtered and stalled at a stoplight (it's an automatic, so not driver error sadly). It refused to start for a few more days after this so I got it towed. Being new to Charlotte I thought this place would be good to tow the car to due to it's great reviews and how close it was to where I lived. It is not and I have absolutely no idea how it has so many good reviews. Sadly when they investigated my vehicle the following week (not concerned about how long it took, it was during the holidays so it is understandable that it took them a while to get to it) the car started. I guess because of this they decided to not investigate the issue further, note the car still has trouble starting and will likely break down again in a few more days which I assume is what they are hoping... They either did not find the issue out of laziness or chose not to disclose it in hopes my car would be back there for another $150 "Drivability Evaluation". They charge $110 to change 2 air filters that cost $10-20 each and can be changed yourself in under 5 minutes. They charge $247 for "BG Fuel System Service". This includes dumping $10-20 worth of fuel cleaner additives down into your fuel. This is so self explanatory it's easier to do than changing your cabin air filter. They charge $78 to clean rear brakes. This includes spraying your brakes with a can of $5 brake cleaner. The only thing they offered me that was priced fairly was the oil change at $66. I rejected all of these services besides sadly the fuel system service and oil change. I was under the assumption that the fuel system service actually included a full service and not just a $20 cleaning solution dumped in with my fuel. I should've asked first which is my mistake. I'm writing this review in hopes other people do not make that mistake and maybe this scam of a business can start operating fairly with the consumer in mind. UPDATE TO OWNER RESPONSE: The owner states that testing was done on my vehicle for over an hour. This is either a lie or they began testing before I signed the $155 charge to find and disclose the issue (which led to nothing). The evaluation was signed off After 8:12am (can't give exact time of signature but they could) and mechanic notes were given at 9:07am. Even though the vehicle was operating at the shop there was very clearly an issue with it if it would not start for a week. Bottom line is you charged me to find the issue and did not find the issue or chose not to disclose it, who really knows. The car had trouble starting when I picked it up, it cranked for ~5 seconds before starting, the issue was clearly there and diagnosable. The owner states that I was informed of the entire process on the fuel "service" before signing, this is incorrect as their invoicing system does not itemize item cost, labor hours, or an accurate description of the "service". The description is broad and I should've have clarified before signing. When I signed off on the fuel system service I was acting under good faith the business was going to put any effort in to servicing the fuel system rather than using cleaner that they didn't even check whether the system needed or not. There is no price or sku on the cleaner used so again who really knows the integrity of your business. Fuel system services typically include an actual inspection of the fuel system, replacing worn parts, checking for leaks, and cleaning. Not just a possibly unneccessary overpriced cleaning. Given the quality of your fuel system "service" I also highly doubt the authenticity of what you say about your brake cleaning service. In my eyes, if I see an automechanic charge $110 to change air filters and they label that as a "High Urgency" replacement, my trust for them is pretty low. After writing my review I also noticed your mechanic forgot to put the obd panel cover back on, it's not in my vehicle so I'm assuming your mechanic still has it. The shop reeks of laziness and lies.

I had a flat tire on my morning drive and brought my truck in to get it patched and have the oil changed. The truck was ready within an hour and a half and was impressed with the quick response without a prior appointment. Highly recommend

Highly recommended. Took my Honda Civic there with a transmission leak and they were able to identify the issues, fix them, and at a reasonable rate. Constant communication with itemized charges so you know what you are actually paying for. I’m making this my go to shop moving forward.

After being rejected by a bunch of other shops for an alignment on my 2013 Smart Fortwo, I stumbled upon this shop based on its positive reviews and the way they professionally handle the negative reviews, as well. The front desk lady (Stacie I believe) was super friendly and was able to make sure that my Little-Tykes-sized car was able to fit on the lift prior to scheduling the appointment. I was in and out within a couple of hours or so (that's even considering their lunch break from 12PM - 1PM), and while they did mention that one of the rear axles had to be straightened out a bit, they did not try to upsell me an entire cow and a half and were simple and honest. Pricing for the alignment was a bit higher than average ($247 + tax compared to roughly $100 - $200ish depending on the shop/area from what I've looked up online), but for my specific scenario it's a miracle that this shop had a lift that could accomodate the little booger of a car and would agree to take it in to begin with. Overall a pretty solid experience and while I try to work on my own car usually, they may very well see this ymmud again should another repair that's out of my hands needs doing o;

Good afternoon I am a repeat customer of Comptons. They have a very wide variety of service that they can provide on your vehicle. I have had them replaced an engine in a 2001 Toyota Camry and most recently. They did some work on my 2011 Ford escape For an engine oil leak. I have also had exhaust service performed and oil changes. They are very upfront with their communication and pricing. I would definitely continue to see Compton as my service company for my automobiles.

I had a great experience eith this mechanic. After the inspection all recommended services came to me in a text with accompanying pictures to show the affected areas. I was able to deny or approve service from my phone and received a call from the tech after all the services, answering all questions I had. If you have car troubles bring it here!

I was introduced to Compton's when my former mechanic, who had serviced my GMC Acadia for 5 years, announced the closing of his shop. He made the referral without hesitation and I now understand why. I’ve left a review for Compton’s before and I think it’s important to note that I’m a repeat customer. I was looking for a mechanic that could take care of my vehicle in later years 80k plus miles on a 2014 Ford escape. They have taken great care of my vehicle and the service is just the best I’ve ever received. Stacie runs the desk and is incredible at everything she’s tasked with. I’ve met several of the mechanics and the owner. Everyone there gives me confidence that their recommendations are appropriate to extend the life of my vehicle. Also they have loaner vehicles if the car may need to be at the shop multiple days. Don’t hesitate to book service here if you’re looking for trustworthy mechanics. This was my first experience with Compton after my mechanic of 20 years retired. I took a 2017 Tundra in for the 90k miles service. The team was very professional and listened to my comments and input. Their system for showing you what is ready for replacing is wonderful - you can literally see everything they want to do and approve it easily on your phone. My mechanic met me afterwards to discuss a few items. Overall I was highly pleased.

My Winnebago Travato had an electrical issue. Mice got under the hood and chewed through the wiring insulation. Thought I'd need a new wiring harness, but Comptons was able to replace just the damaged wires. Saved me a lot of money. Thanks to all for the great work!!

Went here awhile ago and was quoted $2017 for a repair that I did myself for around $12. Went here because it was around the corner from my job. Customer service was nice. They thoroughly check everything on the vehicle so be prepared to be here for awhile or to leave the vehicle. My issue was that my car was running bad as if I was having misfire issues. It was recommended that I replace a broken vacuum elbow hose, both ignition coils, all 8 spark plugs, a 3 part fuel service. Total amount for these repairs were $2016.90 I declined. I asked the guy when I picked my car up, how can you suggest I need all those repairs if you see I have a vacuum leak? He then stated that they would start with the vacuum leak and see how it does after that. That's not what was told to me over the phone after the diagnosis. I was told I needed to do those repairs to fix the issues. He then said just to replace the vacuum hose that it would be around $450 for parts & labor. I declined because now I'm having trust issues. I replaced the broken hose myself for $11.71 and it took less than 15min. Let me add on to my original review since the owner is accusing me of going to the wrong shop or not being truthful about my experience at Compton's Automotive. No this is the correct shop & the invoices I received. So I'm assuming yal switched software and invoice format??
