PSA: STAY AWAY! PLEASE, DON'T LET COMPTON SCAM YOU. GO TO MUSTANG SERVICE CENTER. If you're introduced to a man named Robert, run. Better yet, avoid this place altogether--don't let them drain your wallet. Before they even took my car, I told Robert to ignore my broken air-intake sensor clip (I'd fix it myself since it's only $20 at AutoZone) and focus on the real issue. He assured me, "No problem, we'll get it taken care of." Two days later, he calls to say I owe $570, and all they did was replace the $20 clip I told them not to touch. Robert then had the nerve to say they'd need another $700 just to check the cylinders for the actual problem. He noted the $700 was just to check my cylinders--if they added their $175-per-hour labor fee, the total would've been close to $2,000. I told them to stop working on my car, saying they'd scammed me by doing exactly what I asked them not to do. I had to call AAA again to get my car towed out of this money-hungry place. After I paid, I asked Robert if he'd applied my $75 AAA discount. He scanned my credit card and only then told me, "I did not; nothing I can do about it after I've scanned your card." When I asked if he could void the payment and redo it, he flat-out lied, saying, "Nope, sorry." After I posted the review, Donnie, the owner, called me and promised a partial refund if I took it down, acknowledging they'd overcharged me and saying he'd make things right. But despite my attempts to reach him, he hasn't returned my calls. I tried calling from a different number, and surprise--they answered. Robert said he'd pass along my message to Donnie, who'd call me back. Crickets. A week later, I went back to the shop, and Robert said Donnie would be "back in a moment." Twenty minutes later, he told me Donnie wasn't available but offered to pass the message along. I asked, "Didn't you already pass the message along when I called last time?" Robert looked like a kid caught in a lie. I left, knowing Robert would keep running this game, and Donnie would never call me back. Now, I'm more inclined than ever to leave this review up to warn others. This place is a complete scam--avoid it at all costs. AAA towed my car to Mustang Automatic, where they fixed it in two days for $400. The team at Mustang Automatic was honest, found that it was just a piece of debris in my cylinder, put in new spark plugs, and even took the time to teach me about my engine.

Compton automotive in Dallas really helped me out in a time of need for my vehicle. It is very easy to feel skeptical about taking a beloved vehicle in for work as a female who knows nothing about cars. My mustang is older and I knew it needed much work done. I asked if I can get what needs to be fixed now and a list of additional things that can hold off but need to taken care of in the future. They did just that and also gave me a quote for something else I was curious about. Joel and his team use ethical practices and I trust them enough to recommend them to friends, family members and strangers. Thank you Compton automotive!!

As a woman going to the mechanic has always been a stressful experience. I always felt like I was being lied to and overcharged just because I’m not well versed in car mechanics. I’m so glad I found Compton!!!!! Joel and his team are AWESOME. I drive a “classic” (ie old) car and they have brought her back to life! They are honest and explain everything to me in a way I can understand and are upfront about costs and give me options. I literally drive from Frisco and won’t go anywhere else. Also shout out to the front staff too, those ladies know their stuff and they are so friendly when I ask 1000 questions!

I brought my mustang here after it was diagnosed with a gasket leak by ford, ford told me they couldn’t get me in for 6+ weeks. This was distressing as I drive for work and didnt want to let the issue grow worse - Compton automotive to the rescue! They were so quick to order in the parts needed at a super fair price. The issue was resolved and they went above and beyond to get my car back to me quickly! The staff are all so personable and friendly, I had a great experience here and would recommend to any and everyone!

I won't take my vehicles to any shop other than Compton Automotive. The staff is friendly and personable. They take the time to explain thoroughly and educate you on what's happening with your vehicle. They don't offer a Band-Aid, they offer a solution to help you in your vehicle get back on the road. I have never once worried about having to go back to the shop to have my vehicle looked at again after the original issue is fixed unless it's a part from the manufacturer. Joel the mechanic, and the attention that he takes in his work is second to none.

I’ve been taking both my vehicles here for several years now. Super pleased with the team at Compton. They do quality work at a fair price but the main thing I love about them is how honest they are. Hands down the best experience with a mechanic I’ve had in my entire life. As long as they’re open, I’ll remain a very satisfied customer. Highly recommend.

My husband and I have gone to Compton Automotive for years. We live 30-45 minutes away (without traffic) sand pass countless shops because the team at Compton is the best. I’ve never gotten a bad vibe or felt like they were pulling one over on me. First person you encounter is Martha who is so friendly and informative. She instantly feels like a confidant who will let you know if you are in the right place. She keeps you very informed through the entire process as well! Which is nice since sometimes parts being shipped can take a few days to weeks. Lastly, the mechanic team is top notch. Joel teaches future mechanics as well as help us car challenged people. He loves explaining the true cause of what’s going on with your car and why his recommendation might be different than Autozone (which who believes them blows my mind but that’s a different review). BOTTOM LINE: Through the entire process at Compton, you feel taken care of, heard, and informed. As a female, it SUCKS taking a car into a shop - this is my go to place and send everyone I can here because of their top notch service. Go here. You won’t regret it.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DON'T TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE... they are extremely dishonest. they informed me that I needed a radiator and it would cost me $2,500 I called another mechanic he charged me $500 they held my car hostage and demanding that I paid them $175 for a unauthorized diagnostic.. I don't know how they sleep at night......

Good price for quality parts and repair. Have used Compton's for years and have always been satisfied with service. Family owned business, Donny, Joel and Mary are friendly and experienced in car repair. Martha at the service desk is very knowledgeable and polite in making an appointment and giving updates on your repair.

If I could give this place 6 stars I would! The staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The front brakes work great on the car again. Price was quite reasonable. I very much appreciated the courtesy call just to let me know they would need a little more time to work on the car then what was originally thought. This shop exceeded expectations by a mile!

Took 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee in for 100k service, tire inspection,and annual state inspection. Completed tire issues in one day and rescheduled remainder of repairs two days later when parts were received. Everything completed as promised. Counter staff friendly and efficient. Pricing reasonable. Will use again.

I went to this shop because of a poping sound coming from the left side which I thought was the ball joints. They did a diagnosis and said the sound was because I needed a motor mount. So I paid for what they said it was and believe it or not the poping sound is still going on. Although I didn't take it back for repair because I feel like if they didn't fix it the first time they will not fix it the second time it's heard to find a trustworthy mechanic shop now days I give this place a 1 for me paying this place to fix a probably and didn't get it fix .

I called to make an appointment and Martha was so knowledgeable and helpful! As a woman, sometimes it can be intimidating talking about car repairs, but she was so patient with me - she ordered the part I needed and it was there waiting when I dropped off my car! They treated me to a Lyft home and my car was repaired for a reasonable price less than an hour later! Thank you Compton Automotive and Martha! I will be back!
