They were very quick in taking my vehicle in and waited patiently for Tesla to allow me to use my deductible… However they did charge me 2500$ for my vehicle to fix due to repainting and minor body damage. They also didn’t turn my headlights back on until I brought it back a week later.

My car looks great and the repair was completed faster than estimated. While I hope I never have to have body work done again, if I do, I’ll return to Carstar Chilton Auto Body in Oakland.

They worked seamlessly with my insurance to replace a stolen catalytic converter and even helped pop out an existing bumper dent for free!

Everything went super smoothly in getting my car through the estimate repair process after it was sideswiped in the wee hours of the morning on my quiet cul de sac by a hit and run idiot. The car is a Tesla Model Y and I anticipated some problems finding a good repair shop which handled Teslas and could get to the job quickly AND obtain the needed parts in a reasonable time (which was a problem reported by my neighbors a couple of years ago.) Chilton's checked all the boxes in this regard.k They provided an estimate in a timely fashion (it was pricey, but my car is a Tesla and labor rates are high throughout the Bay Area) and they handled all the details with both my insurance company and the car rental company for a loaner while my baby was being repaired. Throughout the process they kept me closely informed of what was going on and the progress being made. And a week after I dropped the car off it was ready for me to pick (they handled the return of my rental car). The work was top notch AAA+++. My car is beautiful once again. The people at Chilton were all personable and professional... most notably the manager who kept me up to date on everything and went the extra mile to make sure I was a happy customer. I HIGHLY recommend you choose this shop.

I wish I could give Chilton Auto Body Oakland negative stars. I brought my car in on August for an assessment to repair the headliner, and what followed was an incredibly frustrating and unprofessional experience. Upon bringing my vehicle in, I was informed that they would need to contact my insurance provider. I promptly reached out to my insurance company, who sent all the necessary paperwork to Chilton Auto Body the same day. The following day, I called to follow up and was told that the required part for the repair had been ordered. I was optimistic at that point, assuming the process would proceed smoothly from there. However, weeks passed with no updates or progress on my repair. I took the initiative to follow up regularly—every week or so—only to be met with vague responses and excuses. Despite my efforts to maintain consistent communication, it is now approaching two months since I initially brought my car in, and they have still not completed the work. The lack of professionalism, communication, and transparency has been extremely disappointing. I’ve dealt with various auto repair shops over the years, and I can confidently say this has been my worst experience by far. I would strongly advise anyone considering Chilton Auto Body Oakland to look elsewhere. The positive reviews seem to be misleading, as my experience has been the complete opposite of what was promised. I highly recommend finding another body shop where your vehicle and your time will be treated with respect. I would expect them to respond to my review with a generic copy and pasted rebuttal.

Phone service kept hanging up on me! Insane, I called to ask for a quote and I got hung up on. I figured it was a mistake so I called again, the SAME lady said they don’t give quotes over the phone and to come in person, I said to give me one second while I looked at my calendar and she hung up again! What is up with this place?

Tesla preferred repair shop that (according to what they told me and initial estimate before deciding) (I could not tell by invoice) used Tesla parts. 4 stars instead of 5 because invoice did NOT show Tesla parts or Tesla part numbers.

Even though it was a long time that the insurance company held my car when I got it that day it was immaculate Chilton auto body is just what they say they are. I think they are wonderful. This is my first time I had a claim and will be my choice for my repair from now on, excellent service
