Called to get an estimate for a clutch replacement for my car. They refuse to give me an estimate unless I bring the car in. My clutch is slipping. It has been professionally diagnosed. I don't need to risk driving it 80 miles to Trussville & back for them to stand & look at it & give me an estimate. I know the clutch needs replacing & they are not going to spend 12-16 hours of labor to take the car apart & confirm the clutch does indeed need replacing so this is pretty silly. Therefore I am taking the time to leave them a bad review.

I wasted a day with these people because of lack of communication and was not compensated for any of my time or the money it took me to uber back and forth to my car. I called them on a Monday to make an appointment on a Wednesday to run some diagnostics on my vehicle. No one ever communicated to me that this would be an overnight job. I am now finding out that they haven’t even looked at my car and want to hike it overnight. Well, I work in the morning and I can’t have it there overnight. So I essentially dropped my car off to these people, they didn’t quote me a time, they didn’t look at it, and now I have to pick it up without it being seen. I paid for an uber to get me home and back. I really wish someone would have communicated a quote time with me instead of wasting my time during the holiday season.

Never took my personal vehicle but we took a few of our company trucks and they still had the same issues so after a few times of that my company backed out

DO NOT GO HERE!!!! Nice fast and prices are much better than the dealership. Edit. Prices are good for oil changes and things like that. Staff are mostly nice. I changed my review to 3 stars because if you have any major repair here be prepared to wait a very long time. Like 2+ months. Having a 3rd car is the only option because a rental car would be outrageous. While I have no doubt they do things correctly it's just too much time to wait for a 20-30 hour job. Youre much better off just paying the dealership extra to get your car back a lot sooner. I will update my review on the quality of the repair once I get it back. Update. 9/23/24 The owner is extremely unprofessional. I call once a week to check on things and because I'm told something new needs replaced. My car has been there since April... April. Finalized repair prices in May. 95% of the time I'm told that I will get a call back by the end of the day. I never do. Then they get pissed off because I call back.... Owner then calls me a liar about being told I'll get a call back and then tells me he and everyone else was "annoyed and pissed off" at me because I call frequently to check on my car. As a consumer would you not check on a car you're spending $14 thousand dollars to fix that's been there half a year??? ..Literally takes 3 weeks to a month to even hear about part prices.... My wife heard the owner yelling at me while I'm being calm asking reasonable questions. Then hangs up on me. Im paying these guys $14k.... No customer deserves this. She's honestly taken a back and didn't realize how bad this man treats his customers. He's threatened to give me my car and parts back with no refund when I asked him if there was anything I could do. Will update if he does that and follow further. Update 11/4/24. After agreeing to all the repairs and they "fix" everything then then test drive the car multiple times while it's running rough and completely destroy my engine. I was told it was already like that but I have evidence video evidence as well as paper evidence that the car never had shaving in the oil before brown received it. Nor was it running rough whatsoever. They messed up the repair. And test drove it while running rough and ruined my engine. I am now having to hire a lawyer and take them to court for negligence.

I've used Brown Automotive for a few years. Everyone there is courteous and professional. Their prices are consistently better than other shops in the area, and I never feel pressured into making additional repairs.

Great pricing, friendly staff.I like how they take pictures of what they find that needs replacing/corrected. They get you in and out in the promised time frame, unless further work needs to be done.But even with that work I was out of their in 1.5 hours..I highly recommend this company for service.

I dropped my car off on a Tuesday was told it would be ready Wednesday, I went Thursday and I what was the hold up, the mechanic put his finger in my face and to me I'm knot welcome anymore

My Tahoe sat in my yard a year and had a lot of problems I brought it to them and they got it back running like brand new Ms Alex was so very helpful everyone was wonderful to work with won’t take my other cars anywhere else but them

Went in for an oil change, and was taken care of from start to finish. Professional and clean atmosphere and everyone there was great. Not to mention the prices are much better compared to other places. Great overall experience and definitely recommend them.

I called Monday the lady at the front told me Tuesday I could pick it up . That was for oil change, fuel system cleaned, dropping gas tank to replace fuel filter. Recharge air conditioning. This was all discussed in the call and dropping it off. I figured Wednesday before I got the car back at the latest. Nope took till Friday. I had to call at 5 PM everyday just to ask if I could pick up the car. I will not be going back to Browns. AC is not fixed said leaking around compressor and something else. Wants $2100.00 to replace everything so it is under warranty . WTH that is more than the blue book value of the car.

I called to get an estimate and was told by Glen that they can't give a quote over the phone. They have to look at the vehicle to give a quote. That to me is a suspicious practice. I know exactly what's wrong with my truck and I have the part to fix it. The only reason they can't quote over the phone is so they can make up prices for their labor on the fly. If I needed an oil change they could tell me how much that was however.

This place serviced the oil on my wife’s trailblazer and after a couple of days we noticed drops of oil in our garage. When returned to browns they told us that this model car has an issue with a “drain plug seal” deteriorating(they never mentioned this the first 3 times they changed the oil on this car) and it just so happened to fail right after they changed the oil on it this time. Since the mechanic said it’s a Chevrolet issue They want to charge us to replace the part and then pay for another oil change on top of it. The mechanic who I spoke to over the phone said his manager would be in contact and it’s been 3 work days now with no response. We will be finding a new local mechanic this week.

***Brown Automotive gave a canned, phoney response. IF they meant ONE WORD of their response, the owner would pick up the phone, call me, and make this right. This mechanic made promises then made excuses, THEN refused to resolve.*** If I could give less than 1 star I would. I spent over 4k at this establishment and was told by Dan that the repairs would resolve my coolant leak, oil leak, and would clear my check engine indicator. After having my car a over a week, and having it go through a QC, my car sounded horrible and was still leaking oil. I left it to be further repaired. 4 days later I get a call from Dan stating my car needed an additional 2.5k in repairs...that I still needed a new oil pan and an expansion tank for my coolant. I spoke to the owner Alex who basically stated she understood my frustration, and would discount $400. I am beyond livid. My hands are tied because had I known it would take almost $6k to repair my car, I would've sold it. This company puts forth a friendly, competent face but doesn't stand behind their word. I will never, ever give another dime to this company. This place MAY be good for oil changes and small repairs, but stay FAR AWAY for anything major. VERY frustrated and disappointed.

I had been a victim of the dealership repair rip-off scam. Feeling like I had no where to turn (most automotive repair shops do not have necessary tools etc to work on my make of vehicle) I contacted Brown. They were friendly, efficient and honest. They had my vehicle approximately 30 min and explained their inspection turned up no issues. I'm a big fan!

I took in my 2015 Ford Transit cargo van and told them I needed a torque converter I thought was wrong with it. They inform me my torque converter was fine but I needed about $6,000 worth of work on a $8,000 man. I told him to fix partially of the long list they gave me. Way overpriced compared to other automotive repair shops that I've dealt with. 1,050 for front brakes LOL $1010 for a valve cover gasket :-(? After I spent around $1,900 on repairs my torque converter is still the same although I was told there was nothing wrong with it. I would not recommend them because they price gouge.
