I've been taking my vehicles here for repairs for years. I like the people, they're friendly folks. Multiple repairs, after I've had a repair done, something relevant to the repair becomes an issue, which I then had to take to get fixed somewhere else. I don't know what the problem is, but I just can't do it anymore. Update 10/28/2024: Like I said in my initial review, they're friendly people and I hate writing a negative review. Terry called me asking if there's anything he can do to help make it right. I really appreciate this gesture, so I'm upgrading my review and editing it a bit now that I have a cooler head.

I needed to get some sensors fixed to pass the emissions test. They were able to give me options to get it resolved and it was pretty quick! Definitely recommend

Had work done at this shop.Did work and did not give us a estimate charged us almost 1300 dollars on a used part.

Originally wrote a 5 star review, disappointed to have to come back to change it. Have had nothing but issues with my car after over $1200 worth of work done.

The guys are easy to work with. They do a thorough job. I never have to worry about it. When the work is finished I'm confident in my cars and trucks I've had them work on. Highly recommend 👌

Bristows is always honest and fair with any work they do. Always does a great job and treats me respectfully and never overcharges. Only place I'll take my truck to.

Complete ripoff! Performed an expensive repair without telling me any prices till the work was done. Check engine light was back on a day later. Took it to a REAL mechanic and was told the problem was something completely different and the "repairs" would have never fixed the problem. Nice job taking advantage of people in trouble and gouging them. STAY AWAY!!

Fast & friendly home town service. Management made a shop bay open when the shop was already full to take care of the service that my elderly mother needed as soon as we arrived. I highly recommend Bristow's. Great service and great home town people.

I have been using Bristows automotive for 24 years. I have gotten my entire family to use them too because of their excellent service. They are honest and actually fix anything wrong with your vehicle where you do not experience the same problem again. I will never go anywhere else. They genuinely care and they know more about recalls and your car then anyone else. They do not just fix the problem but do research to make sure the car company isn’t liable. You won’t regret switching to the family run company. the ABSOLUTE BEST in the Alton area!!!

Shop was recommended by a friend; used to take my cars there as a teen/young adult until i moved to STL. Took my car in for 90,000 mi service and couldn't be more pleased! Explained all services, costs, etc. Fair price, good communication, and the car is running like a TOP! Thank you Bristow's!!

So sad that there is not good way for people to screen garages that provide BAID/Interlock Breathalizer services. When it was time to find an installer, Bristow's Auto Repair is who our relative chose, because it was close to his home. When he called them, he was told one set of pricing over the phone. Then, when he showed up (literally hours later) the price had gone up significantly. When asked about it, Bristow's basically shrugged their shoulders. From there, the monthly fees were very high. He just had the devise removed from his car and the charge to do so was $231---For literally a few minutes worth of time! In addition, they were not polite. Do NOT trust what you are told on the phone. They will jack up the pricing once the car is there...with no explanation of why pricing changed. There should be some standardized pricing that people can count on.

This shop is absolutely wonderful. As somebody with ten years experience in the motorcycle repair industry, my expectations on pricing are realistic. 3 times now I’ve taken vehicles to this shop for repairs, and I’ve been amazed not only by the very low cost, but the over all quality and turn around time of each repair. I could not recommend this place enough. Incredible experience every time. This shop is a blessing for vehicle owners in the Alton area.

Wonderful experience with a top notch staff. They diagnosed the issue with my truck and fixed the problem quickly. I definitely recommend Bristow’s for any issue your vehicle has.

i wouldn’t recommend this place unless you want the job half way done. they fixed my issue i had with my multi functional switch, however, now the horn constantly goes off, which was not the case before. i now have to hold the horn up with a piece of rubber that they shoved under the horn in order to keep it from blaring. also, the leather underneath of my steering wheel is completely ripped, which again, was not the case before i took my car into this place. they shoved the leather in the steering column in a half made attempt to hide their mistake. after reading other negative reviews of this place, it seems they fix the main issues but break other things along they way in order to get more money. they offered to repair the horn, however i did not take it in as i had a strong feeling something else would break and i would be to blame. I personally would never come to this place again, they are lazy and unprofessional.
