Avoid at All Costs. Don’t believe the Positive Reviews This was the first (and last) time taking my car here as I wanted to find a reliable mechanic closer to home and I was experiencing some issues braking with my Mazda. After dropping the car off, an employee called me casually breezing through a list of suggested repairs, totaling thousands of dollars. Though completely overpriced I proceeded with the brake repairs as I just wanted to be able to drive the car without worry. They promised I would have my car back at 5pm before the weekend. By 4.30pm, I hadn’t heard anything back and called to check on the status. No answer, and by 5pm I still had not heard. Not knowing what to do, I decided to make my way over there and was completely taken aback to suddenly see my own car driving down the street. No communication or update on the status the whole day which was incredibly unprofessional and stressful. A couple of days later, my car started running worse than before and I did not feel the brakes were as tight as they should have been for all new parts. I called to book my car in again as I was concerned about safety and they advised me to bring it in right away. However when I turned up, the manager dismissed me and turned me away, claiming they didn’t have time to investigate and I’d need to book it in another day. Having wasted considerable time already trying to have the original issue fixed, I booked the car in with my regular mechanic who diagnosed the problem right away and informed me the brake calipers had been poorly installed and since being replaced had already worn down to the metal due to their careless installation, requiring me to have new ones installed. After repeated attempts to seek compensation or come to some kind of agreement, the team at Boulevard Automotive refused to accept any responsibility, despite me physically showing them the worn down parts. To add insult to injury, one of the employees lied to my face when I stated they originally turned me away, claiming he never said that and how could I even be sure the parts came off my car. One of the worst mechanic experiences I’ve had as a female, and I regret ever taking my car here. I definitely felt taken advantage of and would rate this merchant zero stars if I could.

Best Auto Repair shop in San Diego! They provided great customer service, and are extremely efficient. Highly recommend to anyone who needs a new place to get their cars fixed or checked! I drove 25 minutes to the auto Repair shop to fix my vehicle. Thank you guys. Best customer service

Extremely overpriced. Charged me over $530 to do an inspection and replace my battery. Most of their employees were so nice to me, however, when I went to pick up my car, I got harassed. While waiting for my car in the lobby area, a man (who I presume was the owner considering he wasn't wearing mechanic clothing) walked up to me infront of the other workers and called me by my real name then asked if I was a nurse or doctor. Confused, I said no... then he said "well you look like one and sound like one and we all need you to take care of us." They all started laughing. As a single female, there is only one way to interpret this comment. I was shocked to be treated like that after I paid an outrageous price for the service. A few days later, a sweet lady from the shop called to check and see how my car was doing after the battery replacement. When I explained the situation, she mentioned the owner was her brother and he would never say anything like that. She said she'd check the cameras to see who it was and call me back. She called me back and mentioned it was a "family friend" who stopped by the shop and apologized for his inappropriate behavior. Very odd that a "family friend" who doesn't work there would know my real name. The work they did was fine, and I appreciated the courtesy transport they had, but I will never ever go back here. Hopefully nobody else gets harassed!

Had my starter replaced by Boulevard Automotive in April and they were reasonably priced and had it done within a couple of days. Fast forward 8 months and my car broke down about 15 miles away. It was clear it was an issue with the starter so I called Boulevard Auto who told me the starter was within warranty and stated it could be fixed at any shop that had a Napa Warranty Agreement and did not have to be fixed by them. Per this information I paid to tow it to a shop nearby. Upon arrival, the auto repair shop took one look at the starter repair done in April and said it had fine print which stated, "for warranty service inside a 25 mile radius from your original repairing location, please see your original location for service." I called Boulevard back and they realized they gave me incorrect information and said they'd have their guy tow it to them and have it taken care of. The following day I went to pick up the car and according to Boulevard it wasn't the starter that was faulty; it was a connector to the starter that had disconnected. Apparently this connector clips in and according to Boulevard Auto it's impossible the car would've driven for 8 months had it not originally been fully clipped when they replaced the starter in April. When asked how it was possible for this to happen they explained that the only way for it to unclip is for someone to go in, take the front apart (not easy to get to the starter in my vehicle), and physically unclip the connector by firmly pressing on it to release. To them it was unfathomable the connector wasn't properly clipped in when they installed the new starter, and instead believe that someone breaking into the vehicle, taking it apart, and then unclipping this connector was likely what occurred. Because the starter wasn't bad and wouldn't be covered under warranty that meant the additional tow to Boulevard Auto had to be covered and because Boulevard wasn't willing to take the blame for most likely an issue that occurred during their installation it meant I had to pay the additional tow fee now totally $300. After leaving, still frustrated I called two other auto mechanics who said it is possible not to fully clip the connector to the starter during installation and though it's unlikely for a car to run that long without it disconnecting completely it was obvious to them that in this case it did. For Boulevard to try and convince me it's more likely that someone broke into my car to take it apart and disconnect it was a joke and disreputable especially since I've been a loyal customer for 8+ years. Boulevard Automotive should've given me correct information regarding the Napa Warranty Policy to begin with because then there would've only been one tow charge. Then they should've taken care of the connector issue and owned up to it likely being their mess-up upon initial installation thus splitting the tow fee. Instead they gave me some outrageous scenario to cover up their error in order to dismiss liability on their end to pay tow costs. All in all very disappointed with the integrity of Boulevard Automotive while handing this matter.

I have been coming to this place for few months now and the service has been phenomenal. Nowadays, it’s hard to find a mechanic that is honest and does not want to take advantage of you, but rest assure these guys can be trusted. They will tell it to you as is, what you need to replace now and what can wait. They care about their clients and want to see them happy. Down to earth guys and easy to talk to you. Their prices are good and willing to work with you. I highly recommend, give them a try.

As a woman who goes to mechanic shops, usually by myself, with no real knowledge about cars besides the very basics, I really appreciate Boulevard Automotive. I have been to this mechanic a few times now and as long as I am living in San Diego, I will not go to anyone else. The prices are extremely reasonable, I never feel like they are trying to push me into getting something that I don't need, and the customer service is exceptional. I honestly feel safe bringing my car here and comfortable with the staff. I recommend them to everyone I know!

I know very little about auto mechanics, Boulevard automotive, treated me well went beyond the call of duty to help me out in terms of finding parts for my car that were not readily available. They provided me with a courtesy car, they explained what was going on every step of the way.. I am so very satisfied with the service, and the knowledge, and professionalism of the people shown to me in my second experience with them. My first experience, is what led to my second experience and is what will make me a faithful customer from this point forward.. really good people...

I was just there few hours ago. I tried to fix a problem by myself days ago on the cooling system but the engine light was still coming up. I arrived there and one of the guys working there showed me that the problem was actually already fixed and after asking few questions he literally explained me in details everything. By far one of the most honest and professional repair shop I have ever been. Highly recommended!!!

Scam artists!! I could go on but all I need to say is they charged me $674 to replace a spark plug and a coil!! I'll add more after I consult the BBB!!

These guys are awesome. Took my '03 QX4 in for a needed starter replacement, I bought the part myself and figured why not save the time and have a local shop do it, know any shop generally doesn't like doing customer supplied part jobs, nevertheless, gave me a very solid quote, couldn't say no, and after expecting 24-48 hrs to have my truck back, they called about 2.5 hours later saying job was complete, truck runs great, and here's your old starter. Stand-out auto shop experience. 5 Stars+.

We were recently traveling to San Diego for Thanksgiving and started experiencing car trouble. They were open the day after Thanksgiving and were able to check over and fix our car so we could start home on Saturday. They were friendly and customer service was great! Our car died in La Jolla so we called AAA. They referred us here and we were anxious being from Tucson and needing to get home. They couldn’t have been better. Anthony called me 3 times with updates on the vehicle’s progress. If we lived here they would definitely be our mechanic of choice! They offered me a burger and hot dog for lunch; guess they do that on Fridays for their clients!! We appreciate your speed, honesty, and professionalism in what was a challenging situation for us. They replaced my rusted out tie rod, and they even showed me the rusty parts they removed after the fact. This place is extremely friendly, and to be honest, it caught me off guard at first. I wasn't sure if it was genuine or not, but they are good people. When I was deciding on the repair, they told me what their diagnosis was, so I was free to research the expected cost, the expected gain from the part replacement, etc. I didn't feel cornered at all. I plan on going here again for future repairs.
