I have been very pleased with the help I have gotten every time I went to Barnhill Automotive. They go overboard to make sure they are giving you the best level of quality thattheycan. They also give honest advice about whether it's worth fixing your car or should you get a new one. The prices are reasonable and you can trust them to stand behind their work. I've been working with them for over ten years and I still go back for Honda work when I need it.

After purchasing a used Honda for my teen daughter, I wanted to have it checked out and was referred to Barnhill Automotive by Honda of Columbia due to the age of the vehicle. Tommy answered my call and was very friendly, open and honest. I appreciate how thorough and detailed he was when explaining what was found in the inspection. They care about their customers and the cars they service. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

I've been very pleased with the service and the scheduling for getting regular maintenance as well as unscheduled repairs that need to be done. The owner, Tommy, is very personable and explains as well shows you what work needs to be done and gives you an option on when you need or want to pay for it to be done or if you want to wait until it really has to be done. He's very knowledgeable and tries to work with you on getting the best prices for your parts as well as overly considerable about service prices. I was recommended by my cousin and I was pleased, so I recommend him to others as well for Honda especially vehicles. He does have a lot of work, because he is very dependable. Sometimes I wish he would get a little more rest. 😊

I’ve been going to Tommy since I bought my first Honda Odyssey minivan. I later bought my wife a CRV and all 3 of my children Honda’s. I’ve trusted him to keep their cars safe traveling back and forth from high school through college. Tommy and Ryan keeps me up to date on scheduled maintenance and tells me details on the health of my vehicle. He’s upfront on all of the costs. He’s very friendly and personable. If there were more people in the world like Tommy, the world would be a better place.

I have taking my vehicle here for about a year and a half. I love this place because I get great, honest, fair service. Mr Tommy( the owner), never tries to over sell me, but always informs me of what is a priority to keep Harriet (my CR-V) running smoothly. Also, Ryan does exceptional work! He takes his time with each vehicle. You can tell he takes pride in what he does. As a bonus, Mr Tommy always has a funny story to share 😄

I have had my Hondas serviced by Barnhill Automotive for several years off and on and have always been very satisfied with their knowledge and expertise. The owner and staff have always been very accommodating with scheduling appointments and promptly called to explain any necessary work. I would highly recommend getting a second opinion from Barnhill before any major service from a dealership.

Tried to get an estimate on replacing a clutch in my Honda Fit. It seemed like they didn’t believe me when I told them exactly what service I needed. They instead wanted to perform a full diagnostic of my vehicle which it did not need. I felt that was unnecessary and went elsewhere.

First of all, let me say that I have decided this will be my permanent mechanic shop from now on. Tommy and Ryan are the most honest and sincere people ever. They will not tell you what you want to hear, they will tell you the honest truth so you do not waste any money. Tommy is very understanding and his shop is one of a kind. I'm a college student and does not know anything about cars but they broke everything down to me. I learned more about cars in two hours then anything and it was great to have someone to talk to me about this. If you're looking for a great shop, I would totally recommend this one because you will get your moneys work and the customer service is amazing!

I didn't think places like this existed anymore. Tommy and Ryan are the real deal. Finally took my Honda to Barnhill after years of hearing about them from friends. Not sure what I can add that hasn't already been said, but they are the most knowledgeable, straightforward, caring mechanics I have ever met. Prices are very reasonable, especially for the level of service provided.

Quality of work, knowledge and honesty about your car's needs would get 5 stars. But when it comes to communication and customer service, I'd give Tommy and Ryan less than 1 star if that were possible. When I night-dropped my Accord, I left a note of the things I wanted done, how much money I was expecting to spend, and a request that one of them call me if my bill was going to be over $350.00. After keeping my car for 3 whole days, I finally got the first call from Tommy on the afternoon of the 3rd day. No calls from either of them until the car was done at the end of the 3rd day, however I called the day before and spoke to Ryan. During my conversation with Ryan on the second day my car was there, Ryan dropped a plethora of information on me about my car. I declined most of the recommendations due to money issues. After a 23-minute phone call with Ryan, which seemed to go on for an inordinate amount of time, we determined what work they were going to do. I was provided with cost information for some of the individual repairs/service I requested but no total estimate for all the work I was requesting was provided to me. You can imagine then my shock when Tommy called the next day to say my car was ready and my total was approx $100.00 more than I noted in my letter that I was expecting to spend. I questioned the bill and also questioned why I was not called with the total estimate before the work was done. I was frustrated by that. Well my frustration over not having been called and sticker shock over the bill made Tommy very angry to the point that he angrily discounted my bill and hung up the phone on me. When I arrived to pay him and get my car, he finally admitted that he spoke to Ryan and now acknowledges that there was a mis-communication. But I received no apology for that mis-communication nor any apology for not calling me with the total estimate. In fact, quite the opposite. He told my I should have known what I was going to have to pay based on the a la carte pricing of the services I requested and discussed with Ryan, and the one previous visit I had to Barnhill Auto for another vehicle I used to own. Who tells their customer they should have known? Does he expect me to do the math to get the total? What mechanic operates this way? In the end I paid the amount Tommy angrily discounted and he told me not to bring my car back there again. Classy. My advice: consumer beware.

This place is not what everyone claims it to be. Called multiple times about bring my car in but was unable to get a hold of the guy that does the scheduling. Once I did get ahold of him and explained my situation with my car. Tommy states I WOULD RATHER NOT WORK ON YOUR CAR WE ONLY HANDLE ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. They refused to work on my accord, but your supposed to be a Honda specialist. The owner truly sucks how can you legitimately chase get $100/hr and refuse a big job. This shop is a joke!

Tommy and Ryan were fantastic. I brought in my civic that needed extensive break work as a result of owner neglect on my part (whoops). They got it running again for me and even helped with some other maintenance I've been meaning to get done. The best part was Tommy explained everything they did in detail so I could understand the work. I would recommend anyone with a Honda give Barnhill Automotive a visit. They have a customer for life from me!
