This is a long overdue review but these guys are awesome! My brother has been coming here for years and finally when I moved back to AZ I have brought in each of my 4 cars - they are honest, fair, and do such a great job. The customer service was okay, Jordan was kind however the actual vehicle service was the worst I have had so far. My car wasn’t starting correctly and I also wanted the brakes to be checked. I dropped my jeep off to be serviced they kept it over night and worked on it the next day. They claimed the next day that absolutely nothing was wrong with it although it was still not starting. When I inquired about the brakes there was nothing in the notes but Jordan went to ask - the mechanic said “they were all good” (they squeak) all-in-all I paid $99 for there to be zero resolution on both of my issues. I was hoping this would be my new mechanic since it is nearby. I want to ensure anyone who comes here knows that this will probably be the case for them too. I am going to go to the dealership because my experience with Back To Basics Automotive has scared me away from local auto businesses. Lack luster, I hope the owner is notified of this experience.

I have my madres vehicle service here, two of my cars have been here. Always diagnosed and comes back mechanically sound. I have had no issues with most recent Automobile HVAC service on my mom alike her prestige vehicle. Mine will be coming up on a shake under the hood or suspension strut assembly, and even must if needed specs from insights of vetted mechanics.

Back to basic is my go to car shop. I’ve tried others who have literally tried to scam me in to paying up to $2k of unneeded repairs (which I know I did not need because I’d just done the work recently and another trusted shop confirmed it was unneeded), but every time I go to back to basic they are fair and honest. Even when I’ve brought it in with concerns they will be honest if there’s nothing needed and don’t try to upsell. They go above and beyond, even going on a ride along with me to hear the concern myself(of course it didn’t do it that day). They’re also very friendly with good customer service. I’ve tried several places in Phoenix but they are the one I trust.

Ive been a regular here for several years but after a recent experience I will not be returning. I dropped my car off for an oil change and when I called 7 hours later to see if it was ready they informed me they broke a nut on my wheel and it would cost me $400.. No one informed me they’d be doing anything to my car besides an oil change. Super disappointed in the absolute lack of communication, accountability, and service.

I’ve never been happier going to get my car fixed! Seriously so nice, fixed my car same day, lent me their shop car so I was not stuck and did not make me feel pressured in anyway for extra maintenance. 100% going back for anyone in my family’s cars and recommend. From always putting car troubles off they make me want to go overly day. Sounds extreme but that’s how amazing the experience and their work was. My AC feels better than it did when I got the car. Thank you!

Spoke with Dave on the phone about a sound we were hearing from the front wheel to ask if he could take a look. We came in and within an hour he found the problem (a loose brake caliper which could have been catastrophic) and had the car ready to go. Amazing service.

Very informative and will let you know what needs to be done on the vehicle before it's worked on. They will not force you to get things fixed and then have to pay. Love this auto shop

For the owner! I will definitely spread the word! As I was leaving today I witnessed the owner/employee almost purposely hit a nurse/student, as she left he then pulled in a parking spot and almost hit another nurse/student car door!!. He got out, started screaming at this nurse/student about how they can’t park on a public street, started screaming horrendous things, flipping her off, and started harassing them. He wouldn’t stop calling this person names I can’t even write, he then walked into the place of business, opened the garage doors blasting music and proceeded to keep flipping them off as they were driving away. I’m shocked this place of business would be so unprofessional towards people parking on a public street (opposite) of their store. To almost hit someones car on purpose, try to hit another person in their car. There are no signs that say customer parking only. Sad to say, this man was so off his rocker, and didn’t seem to hesitate to come after two people in their vehicles. Proceed with caution. If they treat people this badly for being in a parking spot, I can’t imagine what they do behind closed doors :/

I have been to Back to Basic for various tune ups for my 2005 Scion Xb and they have by far been the best auto shop I have ever been to. Absolutely incredible service. Friendly staff, very fair pricing, and quick turnaround.

Very professional establishment, they have even charged the batteries of the homeless from time to time for no charge...back to the basics indeed...
