For the second time in two years I had my smog test done at A Street Automotive. This time, Sean, The repair shop manager suggested I get my regular maintenance work done on my Toyota Sienna. After doing due diligence on Yahoo And finding the ratings which averaged closer to 5.0 than 4.5, I made an appointment. This turned out to be a great experience. I knew I needed it a brake job. The work was done promptly and well. All the routine things such as oil change, oil filter, and tire rotation were also handled expeditiously and at a great price. Also, it’s a real time saver not having to sit around in a waiting area for five hours, 12 miles from home. Anyone who lives or works downtown, and Little Italy, or in the Cortez area should definitely consider this as a great option!

A Street auto is the best auto repair shop in San Diego. We first went there after the dealership could not repair our Mazda Tribute hybrid. Scott and his crew solved the issue and we have been taking all our cars there since. They have serviced our Toyota Prius, Cadillac CTS and Lincoln Corsair. They are conveniently located downtown, fast and do great work.

Everytime my jeep breaks down (which happens more than I’d like to admit) I always bring it to A street Auto. They always handle it quickly, professionally and I feel like they go above and beyond to find the best solutions to the problem, they’re always incredibly transparent and I know that they’re actively looking out for my best interest. They clearly care about what they do and they do it well, I couldn’t recommend them more, they’re the best!

This is a shop for people who have enough money to not care they're getting ripped off. They wanted $800 to change spark plugs in a camry lmao. Edit in response to their comment: It took us literally less than ten minutes to find another reputable shop that charged ~60% what you quoted. And yes many of my reviews are negative re: pricing, because that's the cost of navigating downtown businesses, a great many of which charge a premium to capture the less-discriminating value available from tourists and travelers. Your prices are in line with the other downtown mechanic that, very literally, charges $900/hour for labor for some jobs.

fantastic service! very honest and reasonably priced. Sean at the front is the best, & was a great change about a year ago or so.. Idk what it is, but whenever I get my car serviced here, & I get it back, it runs really well. even with just an oil change. I’ve had brake pads replaced, and other general maintenance. I highly recommend this garage, I’ve gone here a few years now

Took my 2007 Lexus ES350 after work today to get a smog check done, and owner, Scott was able to take care of it for immediately and it passed with flying colors. They have done ALL of the service on all of my vehicles for years, so I knew it was in good hands!! I can’t recommend them enough! If you’re looking for a honest and reliable auto repair and body shop this is the place to go!!!

A Street Auto Service is the reason why auto repair shops have the reputations they do; crooked and just out to scam you. Do not give them your trust or your business when it comes to your vehicle. When taking in my vehicle I reported to them the issues I was having, but was quickly dismissed as they “do not take suggestions from customers or other body shops”. I was told I must pay a $260 test and inspection fee done by their shop in order for them to work on the vehicle. After the repairs I picked up the vehicle and the check engine light was on in the dash. As the repairs involved the fuel pump in the vehicle I naively drove off thinking the light would reset after all the air in the lines gets pushed through. Not even 24hours later I call the shop to report that my engine light was on and they tell me to bring the vehicle back in for a second look. After they do a quick scan of the vehicle they tell me it’s a separate issue and they would look at the vehicle again for another $260. When asking why it wasn’t looked at the first time I was told it was my fault as the customer and they are “in the Business of making money”. This shop does a good job at showing false customer service and false customer appreciation. I put my trust in A Street Auto Service and regret it.

Honest and reliable. They took my phone call at around 815am and I got my car back around 115pm. They were very helpful. Answered all my questions and gave me peace of mind in one of the most nerve wrecking times. You really can't live without a car now in days and I'm sure they understand that. They could've easily charged me way more than they did yet their integrity really showed up at the best time. I would definitely trust them if I needed something done on my car. You guys saved my life if you think about it. I am so grateful God led me to your shop. Thank you very much.

Outstanding service and professional staff. Had a radiator leak and they were the one of few shops open on memorial day. They gave me clear communication of what the issue was, and what was going to be done to fix. They made all the repairs in a timely manner and answered all of my questions. Highly recommend this shop to anyone.

Before making a major move across the country I brought my 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 in for routine maintenance and an overall "get it ready to haul a trailer for a few thousand miles" inspection. Scott and his team did not disappoint. They found and repaired several potentially catastrophic mechanical issues with my truck and gave me good insight into the inner workings of some long standing issues I've had with oil consumption, etc. Even after departing the shop and starting on our road trip, where we experienced another minor setback, Scott was patient and willing to answer questions and provide recommendations over the phone. Overall very impressed with the shop and it's crew.

I brought my car because of a rattling noise and because the engine was consuming oil. I told them this on the phone and in person. They charged me near a thousand dollars and said their work would fix these issues. Neither issue was fixed and they claimed I never told them about the oil consumption issue, despite that being the original issue of why I brought my car in. I asked for a refund and they refused and told me I would have to pay more money to get the issue fixed. They took near a thousand dollars from me and my car is not better at all. This is a dishonest way of conducting business.

Absolutely phenomenal. Remembered these guys from years ago when my car had to get towed and the tow guy recommended them as cheap & effective; when my car had to go through extensive body repair (an act of god blew a lamp down on the trunk), I knew where to bring it. Not only did they keep me constantly updated on progress with the insurance estimate (a nightmare), they ended up saving me money on parts, catching a separate repair that needed to be fixed urgently, and negotiated with the insurance company for a replacement of my badly-damaged quarter panel (which wasn't going to be covered initially). They give your car a full detail, top up air and fluids, it's just the way it should be. Everyone here is awesome, good people, and I'm so glad to know they're around for my car needs!

Great team and attention given to a tough situation. A followup fix was needed after a repair that wasn’t fully examined and failed 10 miles down the road. I've lived in the Little Italy/Columbia district area for almost 10 years and have always been curious about "A" Street Auto Service, which is just two blocks away from me. After frustration with my former auto repair shop, whom I had been a loyal customer, I decided to give “A” Street Auto Service a try due to their reputation and constant business. My previous repair shop always seemed to find additional issues with my car, leading to unexpected expenses. This frustration peaked when I paid almost $1000 for a checkup before a trip to Arizona, only to have my battery die the next day. It became clear that my previous shop wasn't thorough in their inspections. Feeling uncertain about my car's reliability, I had initially planned to have a friend's mechanic in South County check it out. However, due to a strong smell of burning oil, I decided to call "A" Street Auto Service instead. I dropped off my car in the morning, received a diagnosis by the afternoon, (remove and replace the brake vacuum pump) and approved the necessary repairs. They even recommended a cooling system power flush to resolve an issue caused by a previous top-off of the coolant. The service was completed promptly, and my car was running smoothly without any lingering odors. I was pleasantly surprised when the final cost was $100 less than the quoted price since they had the required part in stock. Not only did I notice a significant improvement in my car's performance, but I also appreciated the friendly and professional service from Sean. Unlike my previous shop, I didn't feel pressured into unnecessary upsells. Being a family-owned business with a longstanding presence in the community, "A" Street Auto Service has gained my trust. I regret not trying them out sooner due to my loyalty to my previous shop. As someone who has been taken advantage of in the past, finding a reliable auto repair shop is essential. I'm relieved to have found "A" Street Auto Service, a place I can trust and conveniently drop off my car. I'm so confident in their service that I even recommended them to a friend who used to go to my old shop. I highly recommend "A" Street Auto Service and will continue to be a loyal customer as long as they maintain their exceptional service.

Incredible service, can't recommend enough. Had a problem with my exhaust that was quoted at $1800 to completely replace it at another nearby place. Instead of telling me I need to pay the $1800, they fixed my exhaust issue for an hour worth of labor. Front desk staff was friendly, and they walked me through the whole issue and showed me pictures when I got in. Will definitely be taking my car here for all issues moving forward!

My driving belt blew and broke my water pump and sensor. I had to get a tow there as my car was undriveable. Sean and his team diagnosed quickly and updated me throughout the whole process. Very happy with his communication. I felt like they took great care of my car and didnt try to upsell me on anything. I drove off happily and everything has been good since.

Sean and his team are GREAT. Have 2005 Highlander in need of a new radiator. Dealer price was OUTRAGEOUS! Did a google search and picked A Street.. Dropped my car off at 8 AM was ready by noon!! Been a couple weeks since the install and happy with my new Denso radiator! Good people and good price!!

Sean was so kind and informative. My car got done at an appropriate time (a little over a day) I was able to also get a loaner car for a day which was so helpful. I had to change my brakes and rotors. The cost was about 2k I do drive a Jeep wrangle and did need one new tire also. They gave me a solid quote with all the things I needed like break fluid, balancing etc etc was on the quote with all of the cost and labor on it. I felt comfortable with the prices. Good shops with good prices are hard to find. I will be returning because the trust is absolutely there!
