My family and I have been going to Mr. Kim and his team at AK Auto Services since moving to the area in 2013. Eventhough we've moved further south (Stafford) we continue to take our vehicles to Mr. Kim for service, routine maintenance, or repairs. His work is always timely and precise and prices are always fair. It is hard to find a good mechanic that will not upsell you for servcies or repair you don't need. Recently Mr. Kim saved me and my family over $35K in repairs that Mercedes wanted to charge us. Our vehicle broke down and had to be towed to a repair shop in Fredericksburg. That repair shop was not confident in doing or looking at our vehicle since it was a diesel and recommended that we take it to the nearest dealership for repair. We then had the vehicle towed to Mercedes in Fredericksburg and after the service department completed a "diagnostics" of the issue, they stated that the engine had a "catastrophic malfunction" and quoted us over $35K for a new engine and labor. I wanted a second opinion so I asked if Mr. Kim if he would take a look at the vehicle for a second opinion. We brought the vehicle over to Mr. Kim and AK Auto Services and after about 3 days, Mr. Kim was able to bring the car back to life. The dealership (aka "stealership") did not do their due diligence during their "diagnostic" to find that my starter motor seized causing the engine to not be able to turn over and start. The dealership I went to definitely did not provide the level of service you'd expect from a "premium" car manufacturer. Mr. Kim and AK Auto Services fully explained what happened that caused the malfunction and broke down what he did to the car and parts he replaced to get us back on the road! Pricing is always fair and he stands by the work he performs! If you are looking for a fair, honest, and reliable mechanic for your vehicle, AK Auto Services is the place you need to go to!!! I’ve been driving my 2010 Saab 9-5 Aero for over 13 years, and as you can imagine, it requires regular repairs due to its age. When Jiffy Lube in Vienna, VA recommended A K Auto Services in Fairfax to me, I decided to give them a try, and I’m so glad I did. True to what other reviewers have said, A K Auto Services is both honest and reliable. Recently, I had an issue with the check engine light coming on. Mr. Ki quickly diagnosed the problem as a failed oxygen sensor, and his team took care of the repair promptly and efficiently. I wholeheartedly trust A K Auto Services and highly recommend them for anyone needing auto repair.

We've been using AK Auto for about 20 years because they're honest and do good work. Every time I walk in, they check out my vehicle on the spot and today, they even are doing the work without an appointment. I really appreciate having them in the neighborhood.

Find a good mechanic is hard… This lshop is by far, a lot better than any big name shop or car repair… If looking for an honest car repair shop… give them a call… in addition, Mr. Kim’s life is amazing! Not only repairing cars, he is also an artist… his oil-paintings are beyond amazing! Just sharing a bit of a nice short fulfilling conversation I had with him when his team was working in my car! Forgot… descent prices!

I took in my toyota corolla in knowing that it needed new tires and potentially new rear brakes as well. Two of the technicians looked over the car and informed me the brakes are fine and didn't need to be changed yet. Hard to find good honest people like them these days. Most other shops would have made me do the brakes anyway. Any problems with my car I run into in the future I will be taking it here.

Mr. Kim charged me for a starter that I did not approve, and when I asked him to remove it, he said it will be the same price, because of the labor, he knew the car did not need a starter, but he changed it anyways without prior approval. What a ripoff. Not going there again. Use the shop next to him, they are way better and honest.

The Worst place to go. The owner lies for the price. even though i changed my brakes less than six months ago, he kept insisting to change it. Kim keeps telling lie to people.

Best mechanic ever! I went in with very short notice on a very busy day and I was seen right away! They are so kind! I went due to a weird sound and check engine light and the issue was dried out oil. He changed it no problem and I told him I lost my gas cap and he gave me one for free! They truly care about their customers and not the money! 10/10 recommend!

I drop off my car for alternator and battery replacement. I got phone call after few days saying that there is a noise from drive belt and he asked another service for $300. Now, I am driving my car with a noise from drive belt that A K Auto service serviced. I feel like I am ripped off.

One of the most honest mechanics out there. Ki has 30+ years experience working as one at a dealership and now owns this shop. What I like is that he will advise against unnecessary repairs, which is refreshing. Also labor is $96 per hour, 40% less than nearby dealers - it makes a difference!
